Florida/Kentucky will probably go into triple OT.
Go Hogs
Going to be a battle inside. I hope our bigs are prepared
Nice start dj
looks like they are going to let them play.
We haven't spotted them an early 10 point lead yet, so that's good
Just keep doing what we are, play within your game, stay under control.

that TO is on you
Our first and only missed shot was a dunk attempt.
What a move by thiero
Richmond in over Brazile is strange.
Fouls not going our way early
I have not missed Jabbering Jimmy to this point.
He is living on Knoxville now, over/under on mentions of his daughter being on the vols dance team?
Thiero is a beast.

Pics?
Richmond is struggling at the rim.
Wow. Good to.
Holy fuck what a shitty line up. What kind of bullshit rotation is on the floor?
Awful. We're -7 with Z in the game.
On that last tie up in the corner a ref came in and switched it to a foul after the ref right there called jump ball. Possession arrow didn't change.
TOs killing us
We've been 12ing for a while.
We're rushing on offense. Exact opposite of what I said.
We just can't score now
Holy shit what a block
Clean block
We seem to have hit that point in the game where we won't make a basket for 10 minutes.

You're not far off, and it's still in range. The last made field goal was at 14:23.
Brazile was tossed in there with maybe the worse rotation of the season and hasn't seen the floor since. He's played as well as anyone on the team this season. He's played in the dog house or something because something isn't adding up.
Woof
Quote from: BASS on Jan 04, 2025, 12:33 PMWe're rushing on offense. Exact opposite of what I said.
They went on a 16-1 run after your advice.
I like thiero's aggression on offense. We need two more guys playing like that.
Our rebounding is ass.
Rebound the god damn ball. Come on.
Boogie!
New drinking game when Jimmy says "line of scrimmage."
Douchecanoe.
Have we considered maybe contesting a shot?
Just ran into Brazile and took the ball. No whistle. Typical SEC road day.
Candy ass soft group on the floor now. No interest in rebounding
Quote from: buff2.0 on Jan 04, 2025, 12:45 PMHave we considered maybe contesting a shot?
They need to put that in at half time and consider it at least.

Hello alcohol poisoning.
Well at least we're not a one trick pony.
This time we waited until the END of the half to get down by double digits.
Rebounds 25-10.
they are just better than us.
getting out ass kicked in every stat.
Looks like we are in a three point shooting contest and we are losing badly.
Our cracker is awkward with the ball
Quote from: Gambler on Jan 04, 2025, 12:50 PMRebounds 25-10.
And 1-6 on free throws.
Those two stats are where lack of effort glows like a beacon.
The difference is three point shooters and three point makers.
Dang, Knox. That was a showstopper of a block.

They're 5-14 and we're 4-12.
It's not that. Just piss poor effort.

Was gone until about 5 minutes left in the half. All I saw was three point shots by both teams. It looked like we had no inside game at all.
aiddo, davis, fland, and thiero have combined for 11 points. they are 14th in rebound margin, we are tied for 80th.
of course it can't be their defense or size advantage, just shitty effort.
Their defense and size advantage have exactly zero impact at the free throw line.
We are missing rebounds that are right in our hands.
Out of control shots raining when they're not falling.
They've taken 13 more shots than we have.

Epitomy of having basketball players and guys that can actually play basketball. Or something...
Yep, they had 14 offensive rebounds. We had 12 TOTAL. That will do it.
We've had chances to make a run here and haven't capitalized.
Lanier >>> Davis.
We did not win in the portal. Davis and Aidoo have both not played nearly as well as they did last year.
There just isn't a lot of Hogs on the floor that think it's there job to go get that rebound. Tenn's kids are always rushing to go get it sometimes coming from further away and still manage to get it.
Before jumping off a bridge, hopefully we can get it under 10 and then see what happens.
We've had chances this half. Shots just aren't falling.

We sure have.
The Defense has been much better in the second half.
Quote from: TorcFiadhein on Jan 04, 2025, 01:49 PMThe Defense has been much better in the second half.
Yes, just not much better rebounding and just can't shoot.
Now 4-11 on free throws.
Every fucking bounce is going their way. Can't say shit about the refs in this one. They hit 3s and rebounded better.
I haven't started a game thread in years. It will be years before I start another...if ever.
Tenn is just better.
This may be true of about 10 other teams in the SEC - just better than the hogs.
We knew that a lot of these guys would have to recalibrate for conference physicality. I think we'll learn a lot. Film study will be painful.
Should have hired Barnes when Texass let him go years ago.
The good news is the anal cleansing we got today should be good for the rest of the year.
Flush it and move on
We could've beat Kentucky today.
If they counted points for only one half.
Tenn is fricking good.
I know Davis has been battling injury, but he has been such a disappointment so far. 25 minutes today with 0 points, 2 rebounds, 1 turnover and 1 foul. That's an awful stat line for anyone, but especially bad for someone with the hype he came in with.

Yeah I think I was his last supporter but today convinced me. He's just not ready to play at this level. It was too big of a jump from FAU. He might get a little better as conference play goes on but likely would be like a 6 to 8 point guy rather than 12-14.
I think he got a million bucks too.
Davis is a huge bust to this point. Probably the biggest in school history considering what we spent.
My 7 y/o learned the term "fucking rebound" today. Tenn is really damn good. Conference play is gonna be fun every night.
All in all 8 wins in conference gets us in.
Getting back in the tourney in Cal's first year is sufficient after last year.
I think we will.
Inside play is the one thing that has worried me about this roster. We could use a guy like Justin Smith that is physical and lives on the glass. Aidoo is a good rim protector but he has struggled with more physical teams.
There aren't many teams like TN.

I don't know. I think we come up against several teams that are stronger than us inside and may hit a lot threes. From what I have watched (and not a lot) Richmond(?) seems to go after rebounds and clean up shit down low, but doesn't seem to play much. And if we don't establish an inside game soon, we may not win many, at least not on the road.

Wasn't too big of a jump for Chaz Lanier from North Florida.

Yes. And he's clearly a different player.
Davis took FAU to the FF and followed that up with a solid year last year. I remember him beat Arizona last year almost single handedly.
A wrist injury on your shooting hand is a tough injury to play through. He is the 1 guy that can completely change the ceiling for this team if he gets going.
All things considered, that feels like a big if.
