Is anyone even going to watch?
For me, I have officially entered the "record it and maybe watch later if something interesting happened" phase of the season.
Probably delete.
Why would I watch a Georgia game? This is Razorback board.
For a second I thought this was a new tv show. I thought, "who in the hell starts a thread for a TV show, when we have at least two topics for tv shows."

Tonight's the night we have a break out player meet the moment, win the game, and turn the season around. Then we go to the final four...
...if this was a make believe 90s youth sports movie and not the cold cruel hard real life of an Arkansas fan.
Razorback sports has turned into background noise at my house. I'll have it on while I post on the Woopigs about J6 pardons and how outside the circle of trust some players are.

We lose yet?
South Carolina just did us a solid
Does anyone else hear Jimmy Dykes talk and think "shut the fuck up!"?
Aidoo already playing soft in the lane. Love it.
Announcers just said Georgia only makes 5 threes a game.
They will hit 10 tonight.
Once again, layups are hard
Three pointers too
There is the first 3 for Georgia.
We are a team that is very hard to watch.
Aidoo running the point is a bold strategy.
Great pass though
We never seem to get a guy open underneath while other teams have a guy standing there with no one around them.

That's because we are trying to hit them where they aint. Duh
Three pointer #2
We literally refuse to guard the whitest motherfucker on the court that's not 8 foot tall
Our offense is to literally dribble outside the arc, attempt to go inside, pass it back and throw up a shit three.

This feels like another game where we can't get over the hump.
I don't see anything resembling anger by anyone on the team about what's happening tonight or this season. That pisses me off as much as anything. Start a fight for Christ sakes.
No emotion from the bench either.
I wanted to believe in Cal but he isn't making it easy, realistic, or justifiable.
it sure looks from the body language that everyone - players and coaches are just cashing checks.
I haven't seen Boogie on the bench and assume he has left for NY and surgery.
I Wonder how that works with classes. Then I started wondering if the NCAA still have gpa requirements. There is never any talk about the classroom aspect anymore.

This is among the worst hog basketball teams in my lifetime. They are that fucking bad at all phases. I'm not sure what they did to prepare for the season but this whole not having a team of players to practice against might have backfired. Just sayin
We're playing Aidoo and Z together
The good news. I said if we were down double digits at the half I was going to bed.

I think Stan Heath had a team after Nolan that won 9 games. That was the worst Razorback team I ever saw other than this one. That's where we sit.
Heath basically had nobody and had to scrounge for players though. Our program was in the middle of destruction with the Nolan debacle.
Calipari did not have that and this one is competing with that team for worst in the modern era. As someone said somewhere, these are the guys he would've had at Kentucky.
We picked him to come here to blow up his career. Think about how glorious it would've been to watch Kentucky implode like this.
But no. Arkansas Arkansas'd again. We paid millions of dollars to save Kentucky.

Pathetic. I'm giving up football and basketball. Dont watch baseball. Fuck it all.
This team is Duddy Waller bad.
What exactly was the strategy in only recruiting 9 players?
What is the possible upside? I think we can see the downside.
At this point, we have to hope we keep losing in order to embarrass Cal into retirement.
Thiero juat passed it to Rick B.
John Tyson didn't appreciate that pass, he looked pissed
Brazile has played well.
Georgia looked like us on that possession

yesterday after i got the news about boogie i was trying to think of a way that we wouldn't be dog shit on the court. i had a thought that maybe it would be addition by subtraction, the other 7 guys step up, magic chemistry, whatever. but i didn't believe it.
then we came back from 15 down in the 2nd half. maybe it was a fluke.
I think the Boogie injury may have forced this team into an identity. Make the game as ugly and grimy as possible and hope to grind out some wins.
When they show Boogie's highlights last night I noticed he had a wrap on his hand in the FL and LSU games. He's obviously been injured. I still think the team is better with him.
It was the 2nd half last night that won me over. I saw guys diving on the floor. I saw guys fighting against bigger guys for rebounds. I saw laser focus at the free throw line. I saw better help defense.
Basically, they fought like wild Hogs. That's who we are. And when I see it, I know it.
Are we the most talented? No. Never have been and never will be. But do we have more heart? Last night we did, especially in the 2nd half.
I agree with the trigger guy about an identity. Thiero and Knox exemplify who we are now. They became the mens we needed last night.

Maybe so. But also maybe, having a PG who is your leading scorer and most frequent shooter isn't a recipe for winning basketball. Certainly it wasn't getting us anywhere, either offensively or in Ws.
Corey Beck remains the best PG model. Team leader, tough guy, and distributor.

That's because he's the best shooter as well. Boogie can play PnR and get to spots to score or distribute. No one else on our team can do that. Despite his shooting woes lately (likely due to injury), he has had a really good assist to TO ratio.
Corey Beck benefited from Uber talent all around him. He was probably the 10th best scoring option on that team. Boogie is 1 or 2.

I agree with all this. I am just saying, perhaps a team make-up that you accurately describe is not the best formula for a winning college basketball team.

Beck was, by the slimmest of technical margins, our 4th leading scorer at 8.8 points per game. Dillard was 3rd at 8.9. So really Beck was tied for 3rd.
Corliss 20.4
Thurman 15.9
Dillard 8.9
Beck 8.8
McDaniel 8.1
Stewart 8
Seems like half of Beck's points came at the line.
Beck is the one you want fighting with you in a dark alley. He didn't have to score, unless he had to, but he ran the offense and team. We need a Corey Beck. Corliss would probably say the same.

Beck definitely played twice as many minutes as Dillard did though. I'd say Barton's ranking of 6th best scoring option is about right.
Beck had two daughters who played for FHS. The oldest one was a tall post player, didn't play anything like him. The youngest daughter is exactly like her dad. Just a mean point guard who ran the whole show. When she was a little kid I would see her dribbling a basketball from her house to the Boys and Girls Club and back sometimes.

I still don't get how Arkansas can shoot so awful each season and the other team is out there doing the river dance and making circus from deep and everything goes in. And we'll always always always leave the white guy open in the corner.
When we needed it most, the national championship game, Beck had 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists.
He carried us all game. Beck was definitely one of our top scorers. Without his offense, we don't have the greatest moment of our Razorback lives.

other than the Missouri game we're playing teams "close" but aren't making what I like to call....winning plays. Exhibit A was in this last game where Big Z passed on a open(ish) shot with the clock running down. Exhibit B is Big Z passed the ball to Davis who then was too deep under the basket to make a real play so other than tossing it to a wide open teammate in the corner of the court he instead goes for the hip check salesmanship which in turned failed badly.
There are those little plays like that that happen thru out the game. Missed opportunities, missed free throws. Not getting to the line enough..whatever it is we just aren't doing it. Moreover we don't seem like a heady enough bunch to figure out what is or isn't working. Cal looks like he's planning his retirement there at courtside.
Also I'd be down for the A-State coach whenever Cal goes...or at least kick the tires.
