I read an article today that she isn't even currently attending gymnastics meets.

Big Z doing work. Looks like he is trying to grow a porn stash.
We just got robbed a basket. They waived off the put back with the wrong goal tending call.
I was glad to hear about the call out of Aidoo and Brazile. Mostly they spend their games wandering onto the floor and standing around watching everyone else play basketball.
2 missed dunks, gotta clean that shit up.

Was hoping for a blow out by 8:45. 4 am comes early each morning. These 8 pm games are killer.
When all our guys play with urgency and are active we are pretty good.
"Great officiating crew" they say just after they miss a call of us kicking the ball, and award the ball to us.

Disagree about Brazile. He has put out the effort this year in his limited minutes.
As far as Aidoo, when Cal asked people to raise their hand I would have been the one guy sitting there with his arms crossed.

Yeah that game still pisses me off. We beat them in every category you need to beat a team in except for FTs.
Some ugly basketball by everyone on both teams right now
We generally kinda look like crap.
Can probably still pull it out.
Twice LSU has put a shoulder into the defender to get a basket. The rules book really needs to address that.
Need to clean up that shoulder and define moving screens better.

It shouldn't be this close right now. We have missed a lot of close/layups and turned the ball over.
We'd be up 15 if we'd stop turning it over. Sloppy ball.
The Davis we have now reminds me of the Davis we used to have.
Layups are hard
Knox
Brazile has left his man twice, completely lost him on defense, and both resulted in a massive dunk for LSU.
Coaching must be frustrating.
I guess Theiro is still sick?
We also are at our best when we attack the paint with our guards. We haven't done that tonight. Not sure why as LsU can't stay with us off the dribble.
Right on cue we give a triple going into half.
We are going to lose aint we?
Cal just turned and walked out after LSU's last three lol. We did just enough to end the half down 1.

they attacked, they just missed 10 layups
Brazil is worthless on defense. He cheats in toward the paint and leaves his man open for 3 over and over. Our offense doesn't have the movement to it. Hope this half is better.

Arkansas basketball players over the last 20 years are legendary at dribble driving and blown bunny layups. They've made it into an art...most of the time it's either too much seeking contact and too little worrying about making a shot and other times it's too much avoiding contact or getting too cute when just an old fashion be a bucket would have done just fine.
We have missed too many layups and turned the ball over way too much. If we don't clean that up in the second half, we will be LSU's second SEC win.

We're gonna win by 10
Typical Arkansas, beat Kentucky and Texas on the road and losing to LSU at home.
Took Hogs -5.5 2nd half. Don't even care if I lose as long as we win.
"I don't know where the foul is" as they show a slo-mo of LSU crashing into Knox and knocking him to the ground.

He absolutely looks lost out there.
Aidoo is just another name in a long line of Arkansas slow "white" bigs. In the first half he was "guarding" some guy out at the arc and the guy got to the rim 5 feet past him. When you're that tall a couple steps should have you challenging the shot at the rim.
Might as well let him take a couple more mid-range jumpers like he did in the Bama game.
Quote from: Son of Spam on Feb 12, 2025, 09:32 PMI don't think Aidoo adds much. Has he had a decent game so far this year?
No, unless you count against NCAT when he scored 17. 11 against Michigan and Florida, but no real production like we've needed from him.
Richmond might be pretty good
Do I want our 7'2" center to be our best shooter?
No, but it's better than the alternative, having no shooters at all.
Nelly Davis is completely perplexing.
Nice seeing the big skinny starting to figure it out.
Who would have thought Big Z would become this good at the beginning of the season? He gets beaten off the dribble a lot, but follows to the rim for the block. And is starting to rebound pretty well.

it's also interesting seeing him do a lot of coaching out there. I wonder if the other players listen or are just annoyed by it.

He reminds me of Devo a bit for some reason. Very streaky.
He's made some clutch jumpers tonight from around the key/elbow. Missed some layups and 3's.
Thiero's fat little girlfriend must have broken up w/ him right before the game. He doesn't have it tonight.

Davis had at least 4.
Aidoo is frustrating. He's shown flashes so he has the talent. I'm not sure why it's not consistent but if we could get him going that would be optimal. Good had-to-have win while not getting much out of Thiero and not playing our best.
After doing a little research last night (aka asking HogStats.com on X), it seems like this game might have been the first time in our SEC history where we didn't put the other team into the one-and-one in either half. HogStats suggested a 2007 win over LSU where we only had nine fouls for the game, but upon further review seven of those came in the second half of that one.

Not sure what his stat line was last night but he seemed to grab some rebounds and make a few defensive things happen. Offensively he's just lost as a goose. Not sure if it's a system thing or what. He just looks like the "I"m new I'm new I don't know what to do" guy. The injury had him out of shape from the summer on into camp. I'm also going to guess whatever Rick Barnes was doing with this guy we aren't doing it or he had the right mix of guys around him to showcase what he does well.
Where we seem to struggle the most is on 2nd chance for us and 2nd chance giving ups to them otherwise known as offensive and defensive rebounding. This was an area of concern coming into the season and that concern hasn't went away.
I'd offer Richmond is blossoming into one of those kids that could fill up a stat sheet. Long and wiry enough to get boards, steals, and buckets...handles enough to make some nice assists. Wearing that #24 and taking point on some possessions sure does bring back some ques of Joe Johnson. I think Muss would have had that kid doing a lot of ISO stuff already.
I love Richmond and wish he would get more minutes. He seems like the prototypical 6th man and just a ball of energy.

Last night was Aidoo's best performance in a long time. Miller for LSU was abusing Z on the block. Aidoo put a stop to that when he was in the game. I liked how in the last few minutes Cal subbed him in for defense whenever there was a play stoppage and LSU was about to get the ball.

On defense, Aidoo seems fine enough. On offense....????
I hate, hate hate hate, putting him at the high point. It seems to happen 50% of the possessions he is in there. What's he going to do from there? Not shoot. Not handle. Not make a nice pass. It completely bogs down and wastes time in the possession. He should keep his ass on either block or in the lane.
As opposed to our other center, Z, who of course is going to shoot 3s as much as anyone.
Z plays some really good help side defense. His positioning on picks is really top notch.
Richmond is our best on ball defender. And he didn't do bad running point. He needs to be a little more selfish and shoot more.

With you on Aidoo starting at the top of the key.
The idea is to run the pick and roll, but Aidoo either rarely rolls, or doesn't catch the ball when he gets a pass thrown to him.
When he's in the game he needs to be playing a traditional post spot while we're on offense. Clear him out and let him crash the boards if the situation calls for it, but don't run plays for him facing the basket.
What was Aidoo's injury? If back and legs, I can see why he is struggling. I was telling my workout buddy this morning that it amazes me how much my lifting and basketball ability is effected by my lower back and knee pains. Aidoo may still be suffereing from the injury.
My opinion is Aidoo seems lost on D too. Trying to guard out on the perimeter and leaving the post vacant. He still gets his blocks and boards with his size but I would be curious to see a D metric with him on the court.
They all get lost on defense...usually some kind of rotation issue. Always some son of a bitch that doesn't get over in time. Last night was a bit alarming that we were letting a 1-9 team run plays on us and they were getting good looks for the most part. We won and were also better than them at their place but the blind mice had other ideas.
This team is capable of beating mid-tier SEC teams which means we're roughly capable of playing with TOP 10 to 25 competition. Anything above that and we're probably taking an L. Then you'll have the hot teams that just smoke your ass.
Brazile needs to ride pine until he learns how to play defense and actually does it

he's 2nd in rebounds, 2nd in blocks, and 5th in steals.
he's not a true 5, never has been one. he's a stretch 4 that's been playing out of position because aidoo has been a bust so far.
