Got in an argument with Vandy fans last year on Wednesday night. It was general admission seating as well. We came in during warmups and found a seat in a corner just below the SEC network setup but off camera. Right at tip a bunch of Vandy fans came in and said they had our seat tickets. Honestly I really didn't care where we sat but the timing and the Vandy douchebag's general attitude didn't sit well with me. I nicely informed him that evening was general admission and he got taken by an online seller who didn't point that out to him. He marched off in a huff and sat a section over and a lot higher up. He comes back at halftime with an usher trying to make us move. The usher agreed with me especially when I showed him a picture of the scoreboard announcement that all seats that night were general admission.
We came back to beat Vandy and Mr Vandy Douchebag was taken for nice tickets online and had to watch me celebrate a win sitting way above me. Nice evening.

Just out of curiosity, how did we get Jay Bilas on our call today? He doesn't really seem like a guy who would do an early round game on SECN.
As opposed to our own Jimmy Dykes, who is currently on LSU-Mississippi St. Which isn't turning out to be much of a game.

They also have a lot of money. Between the 5 or 6 or them, they made over $28,000 today on my shit and instead of saying one goddamn "thank you"...it's so what do you have for tomorrow?

USCe has some really good players. Calamari Boyles is really physical and they have a couple of guards that can score and play really good D. I can't believe how bad their SEC record was.

I think it goes to show that there is a very narrow margin between Great, Good, Meh, and Bad. The teams from Good to Bad can beat each other on a given night. Only the good stand a chance against Great. Florida and a couple others are capable of beating Auburn. I don't really see anyone else doing it in our league. Once NCAAT gets going all bets are off, games are called differently. There's a different energy and big teams tend to get stupid all the sudden or tighten up too much.

Was just thinking the same thing. They'll at least have some 2nd round match ups that would potentially match up the SEC but then again it's almost unavoidable if you put 13 or 14 in the dance. I think that happened last year or the year before and the SEC was pretty wiped out except for us and Tenn if I recall correctly.

They could spread them out among the pods of 4 and have a shot at 14 out of the Sweet 16. The seedings probably won't let that happen

1995 Missouri's inability to slow down Tyus Edney would like a word.
Tyus Edney was just fast as fuck.
This clip just shows some lazy fucking defense. You got to get down the court and cut off those angles of approach. All they had to do is buy time make that kid hesitate and then it becomes a shooting situation and not a drive to the basket.
Nobody seems to be able to stop guard penetration anymore. And as someone said the way the games are called the guy with the ball can do about anything including take 3 or 4 steps and there's no call. Hell we had a kid drive, slide from the foul line down about 5 feet nearly to the halo and there's no call for a walk. For years players have been able to jump into defenders and get calls. For a while they were allowed to stiff arm but I think that's been somewhat eliminated. No amount of text book defense seems to matter so I think coaches just aren't stressing it like they once did.
I'm not sure how it is in these other leagues but the SEC officiating seems to get worse year to year. I think that's why we've seen SEC teams tank in the dance...the games are officiated way differently and guys don't know how to adjust.

Missouri was every bit as lazy. It was like they didn't believe he could make it the length of the court in that time frame, so they just stood around and watched while mentally celebrating their win. Like OU last night, they never made even a half assed attempt to stop the ball or make him change directions.
I'm still bitter about that. If Missouri stops Edney and wins, the Hogs likely win a second title. Nobody knows who Ed O'Bannon is. 1995 UCLA doesn't make it onto a video game as an all-time team prompting Ed O to sue the NCAA or EA Sports. That one game essentially started all the NIL bullshit. So basically Missouri's inability to keep a midget from going 94 feet in four seconds ruined college athletics.

Blame the refs for this. It used to be a defender would learn how to move his feet, stay between the guard and the basket, establish ground, and be rewarded. Over time, the refs threw that all out the windown and began calling fouls on the defender the second his body touched the offensive driver. Now, defenders do all they can to stay between the guard and the basket but their biggest concern is not touching the offensive player. The offense has way to much protection and defensive position is no longer a thing.
You see the same thing happnening on rebounds. You used to see guys boxing out with great technique. Now, the other player can jump through the guy boxing out and no foul is called.

What you said applies for the other 99%+ of college basketball though.
I'd add one more thing that the offense is allowed to do that is rarely if ever called. Watch whenever a ball handler is being closely guarded. He's almost always allowed to use his arm to clear space. In the past, if the offensive player extended his arm and shoved off the defender he was called with an offensive foul. That happens probably 20-30 times per game now and is never whistled.
College basketball officiating should return to the pre no hand checking era.
Too many teams (ours included) don't make the inbounds receiver work to get down the court, thus running time off the clock. They all drop back and let the guy just come into the front court and set up the play. Make that fucker work to get to the front court and with little time left, they will usually throw up a prayer.

I think the coaches' instruction
DON'T FOUL, which is a real concern in a one-point game given how they call defensive fouls nowadays, is a significant contributor to backing off anyone with the ball.
