KU is a tough draw. They have talent and a damn good coach. They have underperformed this year and will come ready to play.

Man. I don't like it. I would have rather been the 10 where New Mexico is. Marquette as the 7 and then Michigan State as the 2 I think would have given us a better shot at the 2nd weekend. The 3/6s in Iowa State and Ole Miss I think are tougher there than Texas Tech and Missouri, but it would be cool just to make it to the 2nd weekend.
Agree, the 3/6 isn't tough in the Region but it's a tough 7. SJ isn't too tough of a 2. Big East was down a little this year. They lost to UGA in non conference.

they had 7 quad1 wins, 4 against ranked opponents. also had 5 quad2 wins, against two ranked opponents.
the committee puts a lot of weight into that.

I think all but one of them had 1/2 seeds in Elite 8. I think one maybe had a 3 seed in Elite 8 but don't remember. All had Fla winning the NC. It was straight chalk which rarely happens. I second your eyeroll.

I think Greenberg had Texas Tech making the Elite 8 as a 3 and all the rest of the guys were complete chalk. I would have had Iowa State out of all the 3s but they just announced Gilbert is out for the tourney. Nelson potentially out hurts Bama. I think Duke got the best draw (like usual) and makes the Final 4 even if they don't get Flagg back.

KY is about as weak of a 3 seed as there is. That or we're not a 10. There's not that much of a difference between the 2 teams.

They used to list same-site games two hours apart. Obviously, that never happened.
In recent years they have been listing them 2 hrs 30 minutes apart. Reasonable.
This year they are listed 2 hrs 35 minutes apart. I assume that's for 5 minutes of commercials or the puff piece on the inspiring point guard from Mt. St. Mary's, in between games.
And of course you probably already knew this but we are the main CBS game at 6:10 pm on the first night, Thursday.

The one 8-9 game that doesn't feel like an 8-9 is UConn - Oklahoma. I don't see any way that Oklahomo beats 2-time defending champion UConn.
However many brackets I have will all say UConn, and I usually split the 8/9 games.

A massive lineup that I'd like to see would be Fland, Davis, and Knox in the backcourt, with Z and Aidoo in the frontcourt. This lineup maximizes size and defensive value, two things that win games in March. If Fland is going to impact the game, it will more likely be on defense than on offense.

There was definitely some screwy stuff going on. Oklahoma was not 9-seed caliber. I don't really care because it worked out for us staying on the 10 line.
The 6-seed group was stronger than the 5s as a whole and maybe even the 4s. Vegas thinks so too because I went to place a futures wager on the 6-seed group on Monday to win it all and got worse odds than the 4s and 5s.

I only did one bracket this year which I've never done only one. I started a pool with high school friends and family in the early 2000's that started with about 25-30 brackets. I was guarding the inbound just inside halfcourt and told him it was his best bet to just shoot it bc we were up 3 and there was 1 second on the clock. I figured he didn't know the rules and that if he even attempted it there was no chance it would end up where they could take a legitimate 3.
He airballed it out of bounds in the general vicinity of the goal. Ballgame, good guys.

My guess is it's a turnover to the other team like it went out of bounds.

I haven't watched Duke play in the tournament. Are their games as physical as the rest of the tournament has been? I can't see refs letting people bang around the poor little Dookies like that. I've seen a lot of folks complain, but I think this has been a fantastic tourney. You had fewer upsets in the first round but there were some. The games from the sweet sixteen on have been as good as any year.

My first bracket was also in 6th grade when I spent 2 weeks of my $5 weekly allowance to enter my neighbor's office pool. 1994. Hogs won it all and I won it all. Four hundred and twenty smackers, which for a 12-year old, was approximately 6 billion dollars. Probably spent it all w/in a week on baseball cards, posters, and Sega Genesis games.
Fast forward a year, the Sunday paper always had a blank bracket in it on Selection Sunday. I filled in the seeds as the announcements were made, folded it up, and put it in my pocket. It was time for Sunday night church, and I sat by a friend on a back pew instead of my family so I could fill out the bracket during service. I woulda gotten away w/ it too if I hadn't been too eager to show my Dad right after we got home. Bad night for me. Self-jamm.
My punishment was that I couldn't get back in my neighbor's pool that year. It sucked. My Dad secretly put mine in there anyway. I found out about this right after the 1995 game. I would have went back-to-back if it weren't for Toby fucking Bailey and the meddling O'Bannons.
It's been pretty much downhill since.

at the end almost as if the tournament hoped to manufacturer that magical moment (Bryce Drew/Cam Dollar) but you can't do something artificially that was occurring naturally on it's own merits.
This may be among the most chalk tournaments I can ever remember. Some of that breaks down to a new norm in this NIL world. To break that down further if you are good...you are going to get scooped up by a bigger club leaving far less talent to bring forth upsets. This was also one of those rare tournaments that any one of about 12 teams could have legit won the whole fuckin thing. I mean we tell ourselves that every year but deep down know it's gonna be down to whoever the 4 to 6 best teams are. This season seemed like nobody really knew who was the best. Florida seemed to be pretty consistent winning and flying just under the radar for a good deal of the season.

That's something that crossed my mind in the last minute. It was exactly the kind of game Arkansas would've needed to win. Great defense negating outside shooting.

Really well seeded tournament and a really balanced final four. Have those teams play that same mini-tournament five or six times and you probably get four different winners.

I got as high as I think tied for 9th place nationally in 2013, and finished in the 140s. It was the year Louisville beat Michigan for the title...had seven of the elite eight, three of the final four and the final two. Fuck you Wichita State by the way.
