Your Arkansas Razorbacks take on the South Cackalacky Gamecocks for a three game series starting tomorrow at 6:30PM and resuming Saturday at 2:00, and ending Sunday at 2:00. All games will be on SECN+ or the ESPN app. I will probably be doing PBP so don't expect much. Still on pain killers for about the rest of the week/weekend. As usual, GO HOGS!
Yogi Berra on Ted Williams: "He is a big clog in their machine."
And here they are:

still one of the best baseball moments of the dvh era - robert moore up to bat, cackalacky students chanting "oompa loompa!".
and he crushes one into the right field parking lot with an epic bat flip. also that series - kopps coming in and striking out the last 6 batters of the game using 2 pitches.
@BASS you may need to handle PBP on Saturday. I will let you know for sure hopefully before game time.

i've got an appt saturday at 3....i can do it for about 40 minutes before i'll have to go
OK. I am probably meeting up with Merle Hoggard for lunch Saturday. If I make it back by 2:00, I can either take over or start it.
I was going to make a crack about that speedy guy they used to have but I'll be damned if I haven't forgotten his name.

Iredale is in a bit of a slump but overall I'm happy with our offense. As great as Kuhio's start was, Davalan has been on a more impressive tear. I bet he's hitting close to .650 over the last 3-4 weeks. Having a guy constantly getting on base in front of Aloyx2, Maxwell, Kozeal, and Iredale is a huge plus.

At least for the hitting part. It's pretty clear that the issue the last few years has been the lack of guys capable of hitting. Not sure if Nate or DVH was to blame, or which one deserves credit for fixing the issue.

8-0 Hogs after 1.
We batted 14 and obviously ran their starter in the first inning.
Hog defense is coming apart in the 2nd.
Allowed 3 runs thus far with bases loaded. Should've been a routine 6-3 or 6-4 putout to end it 8-1 but Souza didn't cover 2nd and a run scored. Then a wild pitch brought home another run.
EDIT - Gaeckle pulled in the 2nd for Jimenez.
Now 8-3 in the second and SC still batting with two outs and the bases loaded.
Gaeckle just got pulled.
Jimenez came in and got a grounder to get out of the inning.

I feel like pitching and hitting are going to intersect at some point, wherein hitting will take a step back but pitching (especially starters) should get better than they've been.
But the run totals don't lie. We've scored 11+ runs in 5 of 6 conference games so far (12 in 4 games). For reference, we only scored 10 runs in a conference game once (!) all of last season.
This just might be the year Dave was talking about a few seasons ago when he said we were close.
Davalan, Ireland, and Aloy the younger are all major offensive additions this year.

Maxwell put Diggs on the bench

They are both climbing up that ladder.
It appears we have like four kjerstads.
I'd argue Maxwell's at bat (and younger Aloy) yesterday won the game. DVH mentioned it in his presser. We made their pitcher throw am additional 30 pitches after getting 2 quick outs. Probably cost him an inning or two.

They fouled off about 10 balls each. Really ran his pitch count up.

Maxwell is a great addition too. He's a professional hitter up there.

Sure. It's just that beyond those three, I wasn't sure who's a newcomer and who's not.
And I called Iredale Ireland. wtf.
When in doubt, BLAME THE PHONE

Definitely a concern for next weekend. These things tend to even themselves out.
