Your Arkansas Razorbacks get back to SEC play taking on Georgia for a three game series starting Friday at 5:00PM. Game 2 will be at 3:00PM Saturday with the series wrapping up on Sunday at 12:00. We need this series as we have a brutal schedule remaining, with games against eATMe, Florida, Texass, LSU, and Tennessee with a few non conference games scattered in between. All of the games against Georgia will be on the SECN+ and ESPN app. Georgia leads the nation in HRs with 87. The only good thing about Georgia is that years ago, one of their cheerleaders' boyfriends posted some nudes of her on the internet. As usual, GO HOGS!

So this weekend the FL vs Mizz series gets a TV slot and our series with UGA does not. Some people are idiots.

They set the TV schedule before the season starts except for the final weekend. Makes no sense that they can't flex some games by midseason.

College baseball is probably not enough of a ratings get, or that much of a differential between good games and bad games, to flex over a whole conference season. It probably doesn't matter.
If they can change course in football, they sure as hell can for baseball.
That said, FL/Mizz was an awful choice in preseason.
Our first game against Mizzou was supposed to be on SECN. I don't know why they would televise any of their games.

Oh I am sure they could. But unlike football, my point is the numbers probably aren't big enough for them to care.

That's fucking retarded.
Wonder if the contract calls for each team to be on x number of times for this sport y number of times for this sport, etc.
I think they view college baseball as a way to drive up their subscription/espn+ numbers.
So sometimes leaving the best teams on streaming may be strategic on ESPN' part.

Unless something has changed recently, you can't get SEC Conference Games (in any sport) through an ESPN+ subscription.
The only way to see SEC conference games is through SEC Network or SEC Network+ which can only be access if it is part of your cable package.
I signed up for ESPN+ two years ago for SEC games and it didn't work. I called the ESPN+ number and they confirmed what I wrote above.
Edit: Looks like that is still true.

The TV schedule comes out around January each year. I don't understand why they don't wait until the season starts to decide what games are on TV, or even do like football season and decide weekly which games to show.
Both good hitting teams so I wouldn't be surprised if neither team racks up a lot of runs this series.
Baseball is weird like that.
I'm worried we may lose this series.

I assume he would be at the top of our list to replace DVH when he retires. Hopefully he doesn't win a natty first like Vitello.

My hot take: if ESPN gave college baseball 1/100th the promotion it doesn't women's basketball, baseball would get at least five times the ratings.

We're gonna beat the crap out of them
I hope so, but I wouldn't be surprised if we lost a series or two with our stretch looming.
And you know what? It would be fine. The last few SEC champions did. The post season is what matters
don't get swept on the road, win the home series, and take care of the midweek games. that'll get a top eight national seed, right where you want to be.

If we go .500 the rest of the way in SEC play that will be plenty to get a national seed.
A national seed is the only thing that matters.

In DVH's presser yesterday, he was asked by a few of the Georgia beat guys about Wes.
He said point blank that leaving UA for the Twins was an extremely tough decision for Wes and that he was very emotional because he was deeply attached to Fayetteville, UA and the program. Said they talk a lot and Wes has called him quite a bit about career advice.
Wes was asked yesterday about his relationship with DVH and talked at length about how he basically worships him and emulates him.
Wes is undoubtedly the #1 guy when DVH retires.

Greetings fellow citizens of Woopigistan. Top 1st.
Davalan, after about 650 feet worth of 100+mph foul balls, strikes out looking. 1 out.
Aloy the Elder strikes out swinging. 2 outs.
Maxwell lines out to the track in LF. 3 outs.
(EDITOR'S NOTE: we are going to time this motherfucker by the next trip through the lineup. Three really hard hit balls that inning.)
Mid 1st. Hogs 0
Not worried. We usually don't look too good in the first.
Bottom 1st.
Alford, no known relation to the annoying as fuck Indiana guard turned mediocre coach Steve, hits a pop up to just shy of the warning track in CF. 1 out.
Zbhroudhf strikes out swinging. 2 outs.
Burnett, no known relation to Carol, walks. Runner on 1st, 2 outs.
Root balks...allegedly. Fuck this first base ump. DVH, the Georgia broadcasters, and I disagree with the call. Runner on 2nd, 2 outs.
McCarthy, older brother of actress Jenny, with another 85 mph pop up that makes it to the warning track of this 12u softball field. 3 outs.
End 1st. 0-0.
Sure looked like a strike and an offer on that first pitch bunt.
Quote from: BleedinRed on Apr 11, 2025, 05:17 PMSure looked like a strike and an offer on that first pitch bunt.
Right down the middle and he offered.
Fuck these umps.
I was worried about the away umps fucking us. Guess we will see how the game progresses.
Top 2nd.
Iredale flies out to CF. 1 out.
Kozeal flies out to the track in LF. 2 outs.
Aloy the Younger swings at strike two for a swinging strikeout. Fuck this ump (strike two was the worst frame job ever...catcher caught it two balls outside and brought it back for a called strike). 3 outs.
Mid 2nd. 0-0.
Georgia fans need to act like they have seen a baseball game before.
Booing at every check swing and balls 2 feet outside the zone not called a strike.
Hey blue, that's a fucking ball!
Wide ass strike zone.
Bottom 2nd.
Phelps strikes out swinging. 1 out.
Adams takes strike three for a 3-2 walk. Again, fuck this ump. Runner on 1st, 1 out.
Jackson doubles to LF. Runners 2nd and 3rd, 1 out. Not gonna lie...I thought that was way out of here.
Obee grounds out to 3rd. Runner, who shouldn't have been on base, scores. Fuck this ump with a rusty tire iron. 1-0 UGa. Runner on 2nd, 2 outs.
Branch hits one way the fuck out of here. 3-0 UGa. 2 outs.
Alford flies out to RF. 3 outs.
End 2nd. Hogs 0 Georgia 0 Home plate ump 3.
I hate the "open" backstop.
We aren't getting the calls they are getting,
home plate ump has no idea where the zone is.
Just gonna have to out score them
Furk
Root is inconsistent.
Their foul poles are only 20ft. tall. ??? Never seen that before.
That was ball four
This ump is calling strikes from balls framed from our ankles.
Top 3rd.
Helfrick pops the 5-1 pitch foul to the third baseman. This is Perry Costello territory. 1 out.
Souza strikes out swinging. 2 outs.
Thomas strikes out. Fuck this ump and everyone in his bloodline. Rock Hudson AIDS is too humane for him. 3 outs.
Mid 3rd. Hogs 0 UGa 0 Umps 3
This ump's mother is a whore.
We might as well hang this one up and regroup. Maybe pull Root and let him come in out of the pen on Sunday. This ump isn't letting us win shit.
Root rocked.
Three three and outs for us.
Ump a barking Dawg.
Looks like a long night.
This faggot ump is a faggot. Ball outside and he does his dramatic strike three dance. Fuck that guy.

Yep. That last called strike on Thomas was so far outside he would have had to step into the other batter's box to hit it. The fix is in.
Worst umpiring I've seen in a long time.
He's calling strikes for GA that are 3 balls off the plate.
Root is painting corners and getting nothing.
FUCK THIS UMP! That was not a strike 3
Bottom 3rd.
Zehrajerk flies out to CF...great catch by Thomas. 1 out.
Burnett flies out to CF. 2 outs.
McCarthy grounds out to Aloy. 3 outs.
End 3rd. 3-0 Umps
He thinks he's the show.
From The Rant...

Davalan flies out to CF. 1 out.
Aloy 1 hit by pitch. Good thing it hit him or it would've been a strike. Runner on 1st, 1 out.
Maxwell doubles to the LCF wall. Aloy scores. 3-1 Umps. Runner on 2nd, 1 out.
Iredale singles to CF. Maxwell scores. Umps lead 3-2. Runner on 1st, 1 out.
Kozeal hits the 4-2 pitch into a force at 2nd. The 3-0 pitch was at least four inches below Cam's knees. Return through gets into dugout, so Kozeal moves to 2nd. Runner on 2nd, 2 outs.
Aloy 2 singles to LF. Kozeal scores. Tied 3-3. Aloy called out on the throw to 2nd...looked like bullshit, unless he slid off the base because he beat the throw easily. Hopefully under review during the commercial break. Not reviewed, but he did slide off the bag. 3 outs.
Mid 4th. Hogs 3 Umps 3
Georgia's stadium is embarrassing
Here we go
Curley on the mound, Moe behind the plate.

Helfrick grounds out to 3rd. 1 out.
Souza doubles off the LF wall. Runner on 2nd, 1 out.
Thomas grounds ot 3rd. Souza tagged trying to go to third, and now he's hurt. This looks bad...shoulder maybe? Runner on 1st, 2 outs.
(EDITOR'S NOTE: What is it with us and the fucking shoulder injuries? Goodheart, Stovall, Diggs...)

The start of this inning will be delayed while the ground crew fixes the trench between the mound and the foul line that was left by Root's nuts dragging the ground.
PITCHING CHANGE: JT Quinn (RHP) in for Curley.

We should count this as one of the run rule games. 10 run lead at the end of an inning after the 7th.
We have such a solid line up. No holes, especially after Souza is injured.

Never.
The criticism was warranted. He's had multiple teams who batted 10th or worse in the league.
Agree. Souza was starting to iron it out.
Diggs is really the only player we have who can't seem to turn the corner.

Honestly, it was the players more than Thompson. We just didn't have a full lineup of good hitters the last few years. Maybe 3, then the other 6 were not consistent.
We have bad ass hitters this year.
makes no sense to shit on the guy for any past issues and not give him props for what has happened this season.
imo injuries to the pitching staff had as much to do with recent disappointing post seasons than anything else.

I think we didn't have good hitters and I think the strategy we used certainly didn't maximize what they had. Swinging for the longball with guys that aren't good hitters means you get a binary result. 0 or 1. With guys that are good at making contact, that strategy might work to maximize the run totals. With guys that struggle to even make contact, it results in just shit all around and .100 averages. I don't think it was necessarily a bad strategy. It was just a bad strategy with the team we had and was dumb to not fit the strategy to the guys you have on the roster.
That said, I give him credit for this year in both recruiting the hitters and maximizing their output.
Quote from: piglosopher on Apr 11, 2025, 08:54 PMSo do we apologize to Nate Thompson now or later?
Wait until we skip the post season meltdown at the plate.
The difference this year is even if a couple guys get cold we have others that can pick up the slack. This is the deepest lineup I remember us ever having. Kinda the same for pitching. I'm not sure we have a 1st rounder type starter but very deep. Love this team.

We have 9 guys in the lineup that can hit, draw walks, and get on base.
Haven't had that since '21 and this teams hits better than them and even the '18 team.
And we have very good and deep pitching staff. Maybe not a first rounder like previous years, but I don't worry about anyone in our pen costing us if they have a bad inning, next up.
Now if we can just avoid more injuries. We can live with Souza and Peppi.

Good afternoon Piggas! Welcome to those who just came over from the Masters golf tournament to follow a sport with a little bigger ball and a straight stick. First pitch will be a minute or two after three. Hopefully my app doesn't start going bananas. I have no ideas what the starting lineups will be yet. So, hang on, and let's take the series today.
Top of the first. Kolten Smith (RHP) on the mound.
Davalan leads off. Grounds out to second. 1 away.
Aloy the Elder singles to left.
Maxwell takes a wild pitch. Aloy moves to second. Maxwell runs the count full. Goes down swinging. 2 away.
Iredale goes down looking.
Editors note: Fuck this ump, too. He is going to give them the inside and outside pitches.
LET'S GO!
Another day, another fucktard ump.
I didn't see DVH get worked up about the strike zone last night. It looked pretty bad to me.
Bottom of the first. Gaeckle on the mound.
Black leads off. Goes down looking.
Alford runs the count full. Walks. (After a 1-2 count)
Burnett singles to right. Runners at the corners, 1 out.
McCarthy singles to left. Run scores. 1-0 Dogs. Runners at first and second.
Zamboni takes a passed ball. Runners advance. Second and third, 1 out. Zambowskidick rockets a single past Iredale at third. 2 runs score. 3-0 Shiteaters. Runner at first.
Adam's runs the count full. Flies out to right on a nice catch by Maxwell. 2 away.
Branch singles to left. Runners at first and second.
Editors note: Gaeckle doesn't have it today and may not last the second inning.
Hunter flies out to left.
Egg sucking dogs lead 3-0 after 1.
Quote from: HogglyWoggly on Apr 12, 2025, 03:12 PMAnother day, another fucktard ump.
Well he just gave Gaeckle a high inside pitch, that our catcher yanked back to the plate, for strike three.
As long as it goes both ways.
What is it with Gaeckle and early innings this year?
Hopefully Gage Wood is back next week and Jimenez can continue to work more and more innings. Gonna need them both.
Base hits on 1-2 and 0-2 counts were killers
3 runs is not enough to be the Razorbacks this season. (Still hopeful)
Quote from: HogglyWoggly on Apr 12, 2025, 03:12 PMAnother day, another fucktard ump.
Their catcher is setting up in the other batters box and if the pitcher hits it, it is called a strike.
Top of the second.
Kozeal dribbles one back to the pitcher for out number one.
Aloy the Younger goes down looking. 2 away. Pitch was at his ankles.
Helfrick GOES YARD OVER THE LEFT FIELD FENCE.! 3-1 Curs.
Fraser singles up the middle.
Thomas (who shows bunt nearly every time at the plate) shows bunt again. Goes down swinging on three pitches.
Mangy Dogs lead 3-1 mid second,
Anyone know our next best option in CF?

Bottom of the second.
Jackson goes down swinging.
Black flies out to center. 2 away.
Alford singles to left.
Burnett launches one over the left field fence. 5-1 Shiteaters.
McCarthy runs the count full after an 0-2 count. Flies out to right center.
5-1 Dogs after 2.
5 runs may be enough, though.
Gaeckle is better out of the bullpen.
The outfield seems like an adventure today to find and track a fly ball. Sun I suppose.
Top of the third.
Davalan runs the count full. Doubles off the wall in left center.
Aloy the Elder goes down swinging at low and outside again. 1 away. (Somebody read the book on the Aloy brothers.)
Maxwell takes a strike. Balk called on the pitcher and Davalan moves to third. Maxwell grounds out to first. Run scores. 5-2.
Iredale runs the count full. Goes down on a check swing at ball 4.
5-2 mid three.
Good to see Davalan break out of a mini slump.
Quote from: olive_branch_hog on Apr 12, 2025, 03:47 PM5 runs may be enough, though.
Gaeckle is better out of the bullpen.
Gaeckle has to go back to the pen. This is enough of a sample size at this point. A 6+ ERA from a Saturday starter isn't cutting it.
Bottom of the third. Bybee in to pitch for the Hogs.
Jabberwocky leads off. Crushes one over the left center field fence. 6-2.
Adams grounds out to second. 1 away.
Branch goes down swinging.
Hunter grounds out to first unassisted.
6-2 Them after 3.
can't seem to lay off of that slider.
Pitching change after 2 is not optimal. But unfortunately, necessary today.
In the first three innings Georgia has scored

2
1
The trend is positive and if they score 0 in the 4th, I'd say we're good to go to catch them.
Top of the fourth.
Kozeal walks.
Aloy the Younger goes down swinging at low and outside again. 1 away.
Helfrick beats out a single between the pitcher and first. Play at first under review. Ruled out after review. Runner at second, 2 outs.
Fraser with a bunt single. Runners at the corners, 2 outs.
Boles (PH) for Thomas goes down looking.
Hogs strand 2 and trail 6-2 mid 4.
Quote from: Son of Spam on Apr 12, 2025, 04:13 PMAloy the Younger goes down swinging at low and outside again. 1 away.
He's basically the same player at the plate his brother was last year.
Their catcher is still setting up in the other batters box and we still swing at it. However, if we don't it is still called a strike.
Bottom of the fourth.
Jackson goes down swinging.
Black flies out to right. 2 away.
Alford goes down looking,
6-2 Bad Guys after 4.
The homerism in this announcing duo is infuriating.
Georgia hits a routing fly ball to right and off the bat the announcers are "WOW!" Likes it's leaving the yard.
Top of the fifth.
Editors note: Texass goes down to Kentucky in 15 innings. We are, at the moment in first place in the conference.
Davalan lines out to first. 1 away.
Aloy the Elder runs the count full. Grounds out to short. 2 away.

He would have probably fouled it off. Odds that the pitcher got another one over were slim.
This loss is on Gaeckle, who needs to go back to the pen.
He has a team high ERA of 6.69, which is nearly double the ERA of the other starters.
Here are his last 4 starts:
- Georgia: 5 runs in 2 IP
- Mizzou: 4 runs in 4 IP
- Vandy: 2 runs in 5.2 IP (his best start of the year)
- South Carolina: 3 runs in 1.2 IP
That's 14 runs given up in his last 13.1 IP. Not to mention his non-SEC stats weren't great either.
Does anyone have any faith in game 2 of a series right now? I sure as hell don't I'm of the opinion you send him back to the pen, promote Bybee (and figure it out when Wood is back), and hope he finds it down the stretch before the regional.

The bad thing is, if they don't reach across the plate and try to hit it, it is still called a strike.

Yeah, looks like we have some chicken littling in this thread.
Before today we'd outscored them 19-10. Each game we've hit their bullpen pretty well. Losing wouldn't be an indictment of this team, but there's way too much baseball left for the complaining.
I'll be shocked if Wes lets this pitcher see the rest of the lineup again. Davalan and Maxwell smoked the ball against him.

Aloy 1.0 grounds to SS...throw gets past the first baseman. Boles scores, Davalan to 3rd, Aloy to 2nd. Scored a single and E3. 4-3 Georgia. Runners 2nd and 3rd, 1 out.
