Sandman, Final Gambit, Sovereignty.
Chunk of Gold as long shot.
I'll go for sandman as he won the Arkansas derby. No reason. I like gray horses.
Was Mike Tirico drunk? He was slurring like hell then disappeared.

Well he's like 60. Shouldn't he know that by now? Pretty sure he was drunk. If only Don Meredith and Howard Cosell were there...

I am 64, never heard of a "nut allergy" until maybe 20 years ago.
I took several swings, and pretty much missed with all of them. I didn't have the 21 in my trifectas. I had 8 and 18 in several bets, but not in the right combination.

Had a boss with a severe deadly nut allergy. Had an employee hat often brought baked goods. She made some little peanut butter cookies. He asked, "do these have nuts?" No. He ate one and his face swelled up. "You said no fucking but nuts! ". Well, peanuts are a legume! Has to run to his office to get his epi pens while calling 911. In less than a minute he was on the floor while she was saying "you should ask if things have legumes in them. Having to jab your boss with an EpiPen just starts the day off wrong. I drove him to the Er and he recovered enough to say, " Fire that stupid cuny!"
About a year ago a coworker of my wife's took one bite of a donut that was glazed with Nutella. He thought it was chocolate. He died 10 minutes later. Happened at the office. Sad.

My childhood friend and med school roommate is among, if not
the, foremost peanut allergy expert(s) in the world and I recently asked him why it seems like these allergies have just suddenly occurred.
He said that it's possible many of the cases in the past went undiagnosed but there is controversy in the academic literature regarding the etiology of the apparent increasing incidence.
Short answer: Nobody knows.
or its b/c we just never heard of every peanut allergy incident before the interwebs

Marty Makary's take is that the medical establishment panicked over a flawed study and kept peanuts away from nearly the entire toddler population, keeping them from acclimating normally to the allergens. It makes sense to my limited level of understanding.
Gotta start microdosing kids at an early age on the things that may kill them one day.
I think most modern illnesses are caused by our diet of lots of stuff we don't need and wayyy too little of essential stuff we do need. Different combinations of foods cause different inflammation.
By necessity, most of humanity lived near a coastline throughout history and until modern transportation allowed an inward migration. I think that many of the brain ailments young to old are caused by Omega 3 deficiency. I was thinking about what was different about my diet growing up and now is a lack of seafood. Canned foods were still a thing back then and mothers would work tuna salad and salmon croquettes into our diet at least once a week for convenience sake. The wife and I love tuna to this day, but don't eat enough. I bet tuna salad isn't in the menu at most assisted living places and I bet not one kid in ten has ever eaten tuna. Most of them will only eat chicken strips.

Heard this as well
Essentially there's a list of food you should try to (safely) introduce to your kids so they won't develop these severe life threatening allergies

My granddaughter has had a peanut allergy since birth-- until about 6 months ago when she was tested again and found to be ok. She's 15 and getting things with peanut butter for the first time. she no longer has to carry an epi-pen
We had the Woopig day at the races on KD day.
I read the Derby winner is skipping the Preakness.

Same here. I just wasn't about to admit it to someone from Drew County. My Jefferson County pride wouldn't allow it!
