Florida doing their part early. Up 4-0 on Texas.

I have no idea, but it looks like 9-9:30 at the earliest. LSU has shown they will start a game late in the evening. If this were in Fayetteville, they would've already scheduled a DH for tomorrow. DVH likes to go to bed early.
We're all too old for a game to start this late.

Top 1st
Anderson (WHP) pitching for LSU.
Davalan up. Doubles down the LF line.

Why does Helfrick play so far off the line/plate? He had the guy out by a mile but was too far away to make the tag.

Quote from: Son of Spam on May 10, 2025, 12:21 AMWhy does Helfrick play so far off the line/plate? He had the guy out by a mile but was too far away to make the tag.
Had the same thought myself on that play. That run is on Helfrick for playing too far up/off the line. Davalan threw a dart, but Helfrick had to come back to swipe tag the runner and was too late.
Biggest 'what if' of the game oddly enough is Aloy's error in the 7th. They scored it a hit, but it looked to me like he could've gotten the out if he'd played it cleanly. If he makes that play, there are 2 outs and nobody on, but instead it was 1 on 1 out and all of a sudden Jiminez couldn't find the zone with a compass and Google Maps.
The good news is that it was another really good outing from Root. He only threw 91 pitches and could've gone another inning, but DVH (understandably) gets conservative with starters down the stretch.
The bad news is that we had A LOT of swing and miss last night. At one point we had 8 K's and all were swinging, many on 3 pitches. Iredale and Robinett were swinging over everything and combined for 6 K's between them. We were 1-15 with RISP...oof.
The bottom of the lineup did its job, with Helfrick and Thomas a combined 5-8 with 2 runs.
I admire you guys who stuck with it. 12 o'clock hit and my body shut completely off.
I fell asleep when we were up 3-2 and since God hates me I woke up for the Bot of 10th only to see LSU walk it off. Those are 2 really good teams and their starter is a helluva pitcher. It seemed like the game plan was to get his pitch count up. We did pretty decent against him which gives me some hope against the really good arms we'll face down the stretch.

Didn't even realize the game was on yet and we're already down 3-0.
Another homer
4-0. We may get run ruled. Wood won't last 4 innings.
This feels like one of those games it's probably best to go off and do something else on a Saturday night.

We better get a national seed because we don't play well away from Baum this year.

I was wondering the same thing. White Diggs shouldn't be taking at bats away from Robinette at this point.
Not to beat this dead horse again, but Pittman is entering his 6th year. Who would have thought that in 2020?
I figured the understanding was he's a "bridge" guy to set up the next hire, but give him the chance to prove he can coach with the big boys. In 6 years, his record doesn't reflect that.
Whoops. Wrong thread

Quote from: Cardiac Hog on May 11, 2025, 07:41 PMRighties were batting .260, lefties .170 against Evans their starter per Phil. That's why Boles and Peppi started over Maxwell and Robinett.
Right now I don't think Peppi could hit .260 off a tee.

Peppi is John Bolton 2.0. He's slugging .261 with 0 homers and 2 doubles. And he plays a non-critical position.
And while we're at it, Diggs is hitting a crisp .083 in SEC play (1-12 with 6 Ks).
Neither of those guys need to see the field again this season.
Edit: nm

Bolton could at least play defense. Similar at the plate though.
