These were great times to be a fan.
Which of these legends got you the most excite when the ball was in their hand?
Jones (https://x.com/WarMachine2013/status/1949099802144235941)
DMac (https://x.com/WarMachine2013/status/1945169410798264597)
McFadden, and it isn't close. I loved Jones too but #5 was a different animal.
Did Matt Jones' 50 yard run from third and goal on the three yard line make it?
Opponents chasing him around like old silent movie cops.
Jones was a lot more likely to do something jaw dropping and it isn't even close.

Awful take

Meh...McFadden was just a running back...a great one no doubt. But great running backs come and go. I've never seen a player like Jones.
DMac for me but Jones was fun to watch too. Jones was elusive, DMac would truck a mf'er while still being elusive. Can't even imagine what Jones and DMac would be together. Option would be unstoppable.

Jones got away with a lot of defenders misjudging his speed. McFadden was running between, thru, and away from dudes from Georgia and other big programs on the reg.

Says someone who apparently never watched Jones pull away from SEC corners.
Jones had speed no doubt but I don't remember him running thru contact too often. He had more long stride speed, DMac got to hi speed in a step or two. Different speed types
Jones. He'd do things I'd never seen or could predict.
My vote is Matt Jones because he had the ball on every snap, and there was never any guessing what he was going to do with it. McFadden was hampered by the general lack of a QB and an offense with the most obvious giveaway in football history when it was going to be a running play. He's GOATed in Arkansas sports history for what he was able to accomplish despite that.
DMac is the greatest football Hog.
Jones got me on the edge of my seat with every snap.
I give Jones a small lean as my favorite Hog. DMac is right there though.
I can't pick.

Lol. McFadden revolutioned football with the Wildcat. Faced 8 man boxes and still did work. Two time Heisman finalist and should've won at least one. Hell, he was probably an equivalent passer to Jones. Gave his all every snap. Knocked himself damn near unconscious against Alabama. Jones didn't give a fuck about football or getting better. The league was also not the same as what McFadden faced.

If I had a favorite it may be Ken Hamlin.
I loved watching Jones befuddle DB's, but it's DMac all the way. He was built different.

DMac would run around and hit every defender on the field before scoring. He hit the hole quicker than anyone I have ever seen. He would be on your backfield in a split second. Jones, as they say, looked like a cow running on ice, but was still electric. They are equal in my eyes.

This is by far the least terrible post you've ever made
Imagine if the UofA had actually pushed a DMac Housman campaign, if game day wasn't in town for the South Carolina game he probably doesn't go to NYC.
Jones was a freak but DMac made some very talented SEC defenses his bitch.

Gameday wasn't in town for South Carolina. So was he really in NYC?

I was wrong, it was Tennessee. Fowler herbsrret amd Corso were on the sideline amd he went off and they were like holy shot this guy is awesome and the hype began. It was like. Week 8 maybe?

I was at that one. DMac had a great game that night.
I still refuse to listen to anything from Spurrier after the 321 yard game.

Fuck every Florida Heisman winner including Spurrier, and every one of their beat writers. They all left DMac completely off their ballots so that Tebow would have an easier path to the Heisman.
And before someone chimes in that Tebow deserved to win, he had a worthy season but all the excuses used the year before to keep from giving it to McFadden applied to Timmy as well.
Team didn't win enough games: Tebow's Heisman year Florida went 9-4, 2006 Hogs went 10-4.
Can't give it to a sophomore: Tebow won it as a sophomore.
As for the initial question, McFadden was undoubtedly the far superior player, but the oh shit factor was higher when Jones got the ball in his hands. Part of it was because no one expected this giant white dude who looked like a baby foal when running to leave everyone on the field in the dust. You had to watch and realize that each of his strides was at least five yards where all the guys chasing him were at 2-3 yard steps at best. No one could figure out how to get an angle on him because he looked slow.
Tebow winning it that year is straight up racist elitest shit.

Tebow had historic numbers. While it sucked, Tebow did deserve the Heisman that year. McFadden was robbed the year prior when Troy Smith won it.

As I said, he had a worthy season.
That does not excuse all the Florida douchebags going out of their way to rig the vote in his favor. It probably didn't make a difference, but fuck them anyway for their intent. Nor does it excuse all the people who refused to vote DMac the year before because he was a sophomore when he was clearly the best player in the country.

This.
McFadden was the greatest Razorback I ever saw play, but Jones was a freak. I was in Austin and I couldn't believe what was seeing when he was running by guys. Some gangly looking white dude and they just couldn't stop him. He became a legend that day. That it was against Texas in Austin just made it sweeter.
Both were excellent runners, no doubt.
I'd have to give McFadden the edge as a passer though.
I'm glad we don't really have to choose - they are both superheroes in Razorback red.
I feel like Tom Crowder is greatly under appreciated in this thread.
You really miss a Thomas Crowder from Camden, Arkansas, Chuck.

Not really. He scored like 30 1-yard touchdowns. And threw for another dozen or so 2-yard jump pass touchdowns.
He was a good fullback.
