So here is where all things negative on Sam Pittman can be posted all in one easy to find place.
Every bad decision, stupid moment, and program cratering can be here.
I believe a 5 win season if it has one good win will get Sam another year. Hence I can only hope for a horrific embarrassing loss like to AState or 3 or fewer wins will shitcan him.
Who else we gonna get? Who cares? A fucking cowpie can outcoach this moron.
Can't help myself, I still hold on to a glimmer of hope on this day every year that we may go on a run and shock everyone.
I just hate how needlessly cocky he is for having such a below average record.
We've had exactly one good year under him, 8-4 in 2021. Everything else has been mediocre or worse.
He's the best at identifying what went wrong after they go wrong, which makes him as valuable to the program as every woopigger with an IQ above a potato.
He does nothing to excite or inspire. He's a poor in game decision maker. He plays scared when we have a lead. He plays reckless and dumb when we're behind.
He's fat.
Given that Hootie is on the campaign trail for a reason I'm inclined to hold on to the rope that at least we can be consistently mediocre under Titt Boss. The alternative may break all of us.

if he can somehow make the liberty bowl this year, he'll probably be allowed to ride the contract out.
next season the extra sec game plus another p4 opponent will give him a pass unless it's a chad morris type year. hopefully that will be enough time for houston to fade away again.

The idea of Dale becoming AD is so mindbreakingly stupid I can't even fathom it.
It was a plausible but bad idea in 2005 or whatever, back when it still wasn't unheard of for an AD to be an ex coach.
Today? It's implausible. College sports is a humongous business and demands an AD with a business mind. Dale is too dumb to be anything more than a motivational speaker.
Then again, history is filled with people who "fail up" and achieve undeserved success far beyond their capacity.

Absolutely but one of the principal reasons people are a little nervous about this is that we are literally Arkansas.

I agree, however, Nutt would be like Yurachek, a yes man for the PTB, but a familiar face that some people still love as a coach. He is a Ra Ra guy that can go around and stir up excitement with his used car salesman attitude.
ADs are a thing of the past. They have no control anymore and as everything unfolds will be an AD in name only, if college sports survive at all.

This is my main thing, apart from him just not being a good HC. It's wild watching these other programs with younger, smarter head coaches than us, and Pittman has somehow fucked Yurachek into a corner and is untouchable as long as he wins 6 fucking games a year.
This athletic department is an embarrassment.

agreed. I honestly don't think he even wants to coach. I think he sees staying a bit longer as just getting more money and that's what he's doing. He's not truly vested in this program. He's more vested in being fat and drinking beer at the lake
He is a fat piece of shit who lied about "going home" if thjngs didn't work well. He is holding us up for more money like we owe him something instead of being the ONLY program that would have ever given him a chance to be a HC.
He's in his sixth year and so far he's only produced one season of above average results, his second year where he went 8-4. That's it. That's what all of this is hanging on. That's the new ceiling for him.
And even in that year, we still lost at home to a horrible Auburn team.
He's basically Bert 2.0, only instead of brash in your face cockiness with subpar results, he has quiet presumptuous arrogance with the same subpar results.
Kind of sad where the program is. My apathy is apathetic. I have no despair like I had with Chaggy. I am not angry like I was with Bert. I just don't care in the slightest. I didn't even watch the game. I caught about ten minutes of it and did something else. I may get around to watching it eventually or I may not. It makes no difference.

Blame Yurachek for Sam being able to hold us for money. I went and played golf Sat afternoon so didn't see any of the game. Didn't even check the score until we were done. I do think Yurachek has done well in some aspects but football hasn't been one of them.

Sort of like hiring Suzie what's her nuts because Pat Summitt thought we should? 🤥
We have administrator(s) that make like million(s) of dollars to make high value decisions and yet they've ultimately put in the hands of a who's who of Razorback royalty that rendered us Pitt, Chad, Jimmy Dykes, Suzy Lesbo, among others in recent memory. That in addition to being sure to run it by Jerry Jones first if we're talking football and maybe even basketball. Oh and lets not forget the "search committees"...that we paid a lot of money to give us top candidates like Al Groh and Al Groh.
Discovering somebody had a buddy named John Tyson may have ultimately been a damn good decision if nothing else it probably saved everything built back by Muss and might even result in buying a natty at some point.
Let's not forget we ended up with Sam because nobody, and I mean nobody, wanted this job. We were at rock bottom.

Since Sam's hiring we've gone from people thinking NIL equaled "free bbq and catfish" to quickly realizing we're no longer running a college football program...we're running a professional football team. Or should be treating it like that.
I think the biggest reason Sam was hired wasn't entirely because "Nobody else wanted it"...more likely the UA wasn't prepared to pay 7+ million to get the attention of a coach with real credibility. Now it'll take 10. Anyway they needed a name with some SEC recognition that they could get the mouthpiece media to suck off and sell it to the fans. They basically did it too. Our yokel fan base got in line.
In fairness there was some degree of belief that they could put a good surrounding cast around him and let him recruit his way out but the landscape has changed dramatically in 5 or 6 years. That might have gotten us a respectable 8 to 9 win season or two in this time span and maybe more of a upward trajectory. Instead we appear to be stuck thinking maybe 6-6 at best for like the 3rd year in a row. Basically it's Bert all over again.
I can agree to that. What we were willing to pay no one wanted it. Although, after Morris it would've taken more than market value to being in a top tier coach. It still may.
NIL balloned into something no one imagined. We could've taken advantage of that, but didn't. Better talent on the DL and secondary last night sure would've made a difference in the outcome.

We have hired one Chad Morris since 1952. Jack Crowe was the next closest thing, and he was a Jason Allen knee injury away from a SWC title.
Odds of hiring another one that bad are far lower than 50/50. The most likely result is another Pittman/Burt/Nutt type who maintains status quo. At some point it becomes worth the small risk of getting worse for the equally tiny risk of finding BMFP 2.0. Whether we are there yet, I don't know. Last night's result didn't change things one way or the other, except to put us one game closer to the reduced buyout which is the only thing that will trigger a firing.
We might as well let it play out and see what happens. This offense will allow us to have a chance against damn near anyone.
Quote from: Barton Fink on Sep 14, 2025, 06:44 PMLet's not forget we ended up with Sam because nobody, and I mean nobody, wanted this job. We were at rock bottom.
We won't be at rock bottom if we hire after this year. Chad Morris made our program toxic all by himself.
The hire before that we attracted a sitting Big Ten HC with three straight conference titles. Before that, a sitting NFL coach two years removed from a BCS bowl win at a lesser program.
You're assuming we are what we were at our program's historical low point. That may be true, but history doesn't back you up.
Quote from: Barton Fink on Sep 14, 2025, 07:41 PMI can agree to that. What we were willing to pay no one wanted it. Although, after Morris it would've taken more than market value to being in a top tier coach. It still may.

I mean, there is a point where you can assemble enough talent to overcome poor scheme. Les Miles, Larry Coker, and Ed O won titles as proof. We have never been the kind of school that could do that even when we were a top ten program in the sport.
Our defensive scheme last night was more of a problem than our talent, although the latter could definitely stand to be better.
I'm kind of the opinion that BP likes right where he is now, and doesn't really want the head coaching job. He's making what, $1 million a year? Much less pressure. And surely by now he has plenty of money.
The bad part-- from his standpoint-- is that if we fire Sam, the new Head Coach will probably want to clean house.
The defense is obviously the problem this year. Not sure they will get any better. We have no pass rush and no run stoppers on the DL. Secondary is a sort of "give up 10 yards, and celebrate" group.
Let bmfp coach the offense and defense. That's how we kicked Kansas state's ass in the cotton bowl.
The man knows offense better than anyone in the game. I guarandamntee you he knows a good defensive coach when he sees one on film. He's studied them so much and seen his own offensive genius shut down by them, he probably has all their plays committed to memory.
Remember the Bobby Petrino Show after the Georgia game? Mallett had thrown an interception to a linebacker, and bmfp says "that guy got lucky, he blew his assignment and was way out of position on that play, but right in the passing lane."
The motherfucker knew where Georgia defender was supposed to be. Because he knows their plays and can recognize them on film in a split second.

The biggest WTF for me is how little care do we have around our athletic department that Chad was able to happen?
The absolute BEST case scenario with Chad Morris was he was moderately good and then takes a "gig" in Faggieland.
For something that makes so much money and has such an impact on the image of the school, it's like our athletic department is run by the same academic numbskulls as the sociology department.

Honest question-- in this day of the transfer portal, will a "grade A asshole" really work? Yes, I know you will just say "if you pay them enough", but I really wonder if that is true. Kids have so many options as to where they can go, and lotsa schools will pay as much as we can.
In my opinion the PTB wanted more control of football and probably the other two big sports and didn't not want another AD like Long. They wanted to be Jerry Jones and run things out right. Hunter is just an errand boy for them.

You're essentially changing out rosters every year anyway. So it probably would work...especially on offense.

Fair point
I don't know that there really is a archetype coach you can just spin up and say ok go get it now days. What worked in the past doesn't necessarily mean shit now. I guess maybe I'd still prefer to take my chances with a highly focused Type A personality.
Here's some paradox shit for you:
does anyone really think Ryan Day is as great as his record says he is? I don't...he may be really decent to good but I'm not convinced he's great. I think Ohio State's success mostly comes from an institution of pissing excellence for decades and probably sits in a hot bed of recruiting. They likely have a lot of really quality administrative people in the building that know how to make shit happen. Also they play in a much softer pasty white Big 10 and are fresh as a daisy come playoffs and really should give programs a run for their money.
There's an obvious counterargument to this being Alabama in the wake of Nick Saban's exit. It's been less than optimal. So the notion that you can just plug in a new chicken into a highly squared away football factory doesn't always render the results you would think. Coaches still matter and right now as it sits there's still plenty of hard ass types still out there having success.
saban was the definition of a grade asshole and nil plus the portal kicked his ass. and it wasn't like he didn't have money to pay the players.

See, that's where I differ with you. Yes, we change out rosters every year, but the Ohio States, Texas, ND , etc don't have nearly as much turnover as we do. I think the ones we will see go far in the playoffs are the schools we will see hold on to bigger percentages of their rosters every year.
Even Petrino needs a couple of years with them
Those schools still have more/better depth. They are able keep more kids to develop than schools like Arkansas. Kid doesn't play here, he's gone.
Quote from: DirkPiggler on Sep 15, 2025, 06:01 PMYou're essentially changing out rosters every year anyway. So it probably would work...especially on offense.
That's what I think. Not having to recruit would help with one of Petrino weaknesses. The ability to put players in the pros will continue to be a big part of where kids go. Surely they'll fix the transfer portal eventually to stop the hurt feelings transfers.
The portal is the bigger issue.

The new chicken has to have the connections to put together the right staff.
It could be that Sam's connections were all mostly his age or older so most are retired. Never having been an HC he doesn't know as many keed coaches. A lot of rising assistants are 30 years younger than he is.

No way they do it before he hits .500 imo, which the earliest that could happen is Oct 18th after A&M.
It was 2nd and 2 and Memphis still had two timeouts to stop the clock. Getting the first down there would have let us run the clock out before kicking the last FG.
I'm guessing instead of that he said something along the lines of "I don't know what you want me to say we just have to do a better job of holding on to the ball than we have these last couple of weeks."

Precisely why people need to stop saying Gruden's name and never mention it again.
The GOAT NFL coach is getting absolutely rinsed at UNC. This is a completely different football environment with innovative offenses, unrestricted transfers and NIL. Gruden would be nothing more than a showy hire to win the press conference and publicity, which does not matter on the field.
We need a young, offensive-minded coach who can recruit the portal.

I understood your early optimism on this team. However, after 4 games, I understand how you now feel. This year is already over. All we can hope for is better times yet to come. But, not his year.
One thing I don't think HY and those guys understand is that you can't be a 6 or 7 win team in the SEC. If you shoot for that, you're gonna be a three or four win team. In the SEC the 6 or 7 are good teams that suffered injuries or underachieved.
You can't put a program on cruise control and expect anything but disaster. Saying stupid shit like HY said last week is a recipe for a two win season if actually put into practice.
The only, and I mean ONLY way I would feel any optimism for this year is they fire Sam and install Petrino as interim for the rest of the year assuming he would take it. That is the only way I think we could make anything of the year. He knows the players on offense obviously and likely knows the players on defense better than Sam does as well. You think he doesn't take note of who is playing hard and who isn't while he is up in the booth? He likely knows what we SHOULD do on defense, whether they welcome or take his input or not right now.
Bringing in someone new mid-year unless it is the long-term coach would be a disaster. Promote him and see what he can do. If it looks like 2009, give the man a shot to have his 2010/2011 again. If it doesn't look like has what it takes to be a HC, then start the prep to hire a permanent coach in the offseason and thank him for his contributions while allowing him to apply for the OC position with the new staff if he wants.
No joke, with him as HC this year and the same exact defensive players running a slightly different scheme (not the same shit that got roasted against Ole Miss last year too) but playing HARD instead of loafing and we are 4-0 and likely ranked coming out of this week. Same players. No NIL excuses, nothing, and we are 4-0 and you all know it with the same players.
I don't think keeping or firing Sam does anything for this season. We are not hiring BP again and honestly I don't think I want him as the head coach. Keeping Sam until the end of the season doesn't hurt the program any more than what has already been done. We are literally rock bottom in the SEC. We can't sink any lower.

You guys know though that while that it is the right answer, Arkansas football never takes the right answer. They will screw this up in epic fashion.
There are two things needed to lift the curse
1. Build the fucking Nolan Statue
2. Give BP his redemption arc as HC if he still has the fire and has "IT" and he wants to.
We all know the last time we didn't have every fucking bounce go against us and the last time we didn't lose every close game. That was under BP. Since then, NOTHING has gone right.
No better way to find out than to let him finish out this year as interim. If it works out, great, if not, you gave him a shot. Either way, the second part of the curse is lifted. Just need the statue.

Quote from: BleedinRed on Sep 21, 2025, 10:21 AMYou guys know though that while that it is the right answer, Arkansas football never takes the right answer. They will screw this up in epic fashion.
We fumble every opportunity.
I agree about Petrino. It's just about got to be him and the sooner the better but we are living in a world where if 4 weeks saves you 10 million or whatever the number is and you can bet we're taking 4 weeks to make that call. I don't know that we're fixing this shit this season anyway but I'd love to see Petrino get a crack at it while there's time to possibly salvage it. What's the real cost of NOT DOING SOMETHING?
I think Petrino is already making chicken salad with this offense but more on that in a bit. Like all old guru play callers their time to shine is fleeting. Yesterday I could easily see the run vs pass plays and if I can see it surely a D1 DC can. To me our RPO game and a lot of that shit that was working last year isn't working very well this season. It looks disjointed and weird. It's getting blown up fairly often which makes me thing there's a tell that defenses are keying in on. Well that and Carmona is a Spanish bullfighter. We also have weird shit happening like we forget we had TE's that were getting open and making plays early in the game. In the later part of the game we were running plays that were exactly what the defense was prepared for. It's like they read our god damn book. Like Green didn't understand what they were showing him and couldn't adjust and you know he's been coached up on that shit. And what happened to getting a timeout and talking things over? I think that sequence of throwing two near interceptions on consecutive passes would have been a dandy time to get a blow and talk things over. But we opted for the 3rd throw being a easy int on what was EXACTLY the same play call. What concept we were going for up in the box and what KJ Jefferson Taylen Green was seeing I don't have a clue. Like what are you not fucking seeing there kid? They are jumping the crossing routes so you need to be looking for XYZ to happen. Petrino knows what he wanted out of that play and Green wasn't delivering. I'd bet money you could look at the tape and see something that the kid wasn't seeing.
Aside from Blake, Russell, Williams, and a couple TE's the rest are iffy head cases and edge P5 talent at best. How cliche of me but I do really believe if you put in the new KJ model in a QB we're probably winning one or both of these last couple games. That KJ kid to me looks like a quick decision maker and probably less prone to mistakes. Taylen is all about big plays and his focus and mechanics go to shit fairly often. I admit there are a ot of SEC teams (with defenses) that would love to have him but if you have a team with no defense you cannot afford mistakes on offense. That goes for the QB and the other ball carriers who've killed us on totally preventable fumbles. Those fumbles and the way the defense plays to me suggest that we were soft as fuck in fall camp trying to "stay fresh" because "we're a really good football team". Yes that's what we were hearing. This coach is fucking clueless.
So anyway what may happen is a change at DC. We have two titled DC's and both are basically Auburn/FSU guys that have been up and down in their careers. We're rounded out with Deke Adams who has done nothing in his career of note other than manage to keep DL coaching jobs for reasons that escape me. The other guy is Nick Perry or something and he's a NFL guy that also worked under Saban so probably the smartest one there...and probably also the one that's going to get fired.
Notwithstanding all the factors that make it different now, I recall when Jack Crowe got fired we came out and shit stomped South Carolina the next week. Got smoked by Alabama the next week, but they were national champs that year.
Quote from: The Whyte Boar on Sep 21, 2025, 09:44 AMOne thing I don't think HY and those guys understand is that you can't be a 6 or 7 win team in the SEC.
This needs to be put on a billboard for Yuracheck to see every morning.
Quote from: BleedinRed on Sep 21, 2025, 10:11 AMUnless we change the AD, I'm not sure even a new coach can help.
This cannot be said enough. I do not want Yurachek hiring the next coach. He totally fucked up the last football hire and his negotiating skills are terrible. Add to that he ain't worth a shit at fundraising and he has no idea how to implement a successful NIL program. He needs to go right fucking now so that we can have a new AD in place to hire the next football coach.
I am firmly on the BMFP bandwagon. He has been the one constant positive on this staff since his arrival.
During his tenure as OC, Kendall Briles' best year was a 470 ypg average. Petrino averaged 459.5 ypg last year and is currently averaging 552.0 ypg after 4 games. He has molded TG into the #8 national (#2 SEC) in passing yards and the leading QB rusher in the nation. Mike Washington is the #5 rusher in the SEC (TG is #3) and Blake is #4 in receiving yds.
People speak of a "kinder, gentler" BMFP but I guarandamntee you that not one single player will be seen loafing on either side of the ball if he becomes HC. We might be playing true freshmen and scout teamers but they will be hustling.
I just don't know if he wants to deal with the cast of idiots overseeing the Athletic Department anymore.
You want to send the PTB a message? You want change? Stay home. Spend your money elsewhere. That will fix everything. A serious AD will be found. A competent head coach will be hired.
They want YOUR money. More than anything. 30,000 empty seats against the biggest opponent in the stadiums history will send a message that won't be ignored.

I love Bobby and offense is great, but the last 2 weeks has shown that it doesn't matter if you average a gazzilion yds a game, all it takes is 1 mistake and you lose. You have to have defense that can stop someone, that at least is middle of the pack in the conference, not rock bottom worst. We have today and we're sitting at 4-0. A over-rated 4-0 but that's ok. Defense is about effort and there was none yesterday. It was glaring and embarrassing.

I doubt there's anyone out there in the college game that could break down film the way Bobby can. If he doesn't want the HC role again you kidnap his family and tell him to have his pick of a young OC and DC and their support/position staffs, and then get on your knees and beg him to teach them and let them do their jobs. Pay him to do that until he's 70, and see if he can manage to step back and only be the timeout caller and lead ass chewer during the games. Hell, bring back Paul, put him in the booth, and let him be the eyes in the sky.
Also let him publicly castrate Sowders if he wants.
As bad as the defense has been we were in a position to win these games (or take the lead) thru offense and shit the bed each time. Both very preventable fumbles by better execution. Giving them a td to end the half basically killed us. The early INT ended up being a score for them I believe so with a clean offense and no DPI we're cruising into half probably up 35-3 or some shit.
Defensively I feel like we are using poor technique in each position group which in turn is getting us into a lot of penalty situations. Lazy fuckers reaching and grabbing. In truth yesterday we were often times there to make the play but it would be 1 guy at a time and very little to no pursuit to the ball. I noted this as a concern after the Bama Aggie game. Evidently there's not a swinging dick on the roster that can make a fucking open field tackle.
Everyone seems to be focusing on offense which really isn't the problem right now. We need somebody to come in and fix the shitty defense we have. I don't know if BMFP can fix that.

We also failed to capitalize on a gifted onside kick that we recovered after the first series.
First ray of hope I've had.
I'll add one more thing that might push BP over the top. He will be cheap. First, they won't have to buy him out and presumably much of the offensive staff. Second, he will probably take the job for the same money or even less than Sam is currently making.
Fans leaving en masse at halftime this Saturday against ND will be the final nail in Sam's coffin. He won't be let go until next weekend.

Trey Biddy (citing a "lawyer" source) expects Sam to be fired during the bye week despite the $3 million difference in payout due to two reasons: the automatic 30-day portal exception after a HC firing and the fact that players cannot self- redshirt after participating in more than 4 games. Any players portaling mid season would have a hard time finding a spot when most teams have full rosters and all the significant players would have 5 games under their belts after ND.

Now that Trey says he will be fired in the off week, we will. It will be an Orgeron situation again.
Can the state condemn his property on the lake and seize it, declare him and enemy of the state, and expel him and his wife.
here's what biddy actually posted:
"Ignore the other figures. Everything is right except the money.
I am told, by a lawyer, it's prorated but it would be at about $10.2 million at 75% buyout, and then would drop to about $7.3 million if he fell below .500.
But this is what is more important than $3 million difference and why UCLA and VT both made important decisions on their coaches when they did.
The day a head coach is fired, the portal automatically opens up for those players for 30 days.
Right now after a termination, transfer if you want, but there are no roster spots available on other teams' rosters because we're in the middle of the season. So if Pittman is terminated, there is no advantage for the players right now to hop in the portal during this 30-day window.
If a change happens after the season or much later in the year, the players would basically get early access to the portal that opens in January, and Arkansas would be in a very bad situation. At week 4, there is also the self-redshirt opportunity for current players."
it was another poster that brought up the bye week in regards to the portal, but it was a question.

While I agree that Petrino makes the most sense as the interim, I do NOT want him long term. For good reason, everybody is blaming the defense for Saturday, but let's not forget the offense put up THREE points in the second half.
Also, his last 4 years as a head coach, he has a 20-23 overall record and is 14-15 in conference games during that time. Grandpa Petrino is not the same BMFP that roamed the sidelines from 2008-2011.

Counterpoints:
Turnovers played a key role in the lack of points in the second half of our last two games. The plays called were still effective in moving the ball.
The offense should get a little grace due to the stress of knowing they have to score every single drive for the team to have a chance, or at least for knowing that if at any point they fall behind by more than one score the game is likely over. It's hard to play with the weight of an entire team and a 300 pound coach's future on your back.
You are cherry picking a bit. Why not stop at three years given the gap in service? Or extend it to 5-6 years? For instance, if you expand to six you find that he had two conference co-championships in that time frame, along with a Heisman trophy winner. Or if you stop at three years you leave out his one truly horrible season, one that was strongly affected by an NCAA and FBI investigation into the Louisville athletic program which was not looking into Petrino or football at all but caused the firing of the AD who hired Bobby twice.
I share some of your concern about whether Bobby still has the fire to be the same coach he was in 2010-11. But the success of his offenses so far with limited talent on hand seem to show he's got a little left in the tank. And when the options being mentioned are Sun Belt coaches and, God forbid, Gus fucking Malzahn, Bobby looks like the love child of Bear Bryant and Nick Saban by comparison.

2nd year QB and a brand new receiver group, and we're averaging 500 yards per game.
And save a bullshit holding call on Blake and a fumble on the 5 we gifted away an easy 14 -17 points in the 2nd half.

Every team plays with the coach's future on their back. While I agree scoring 35 against an SEC opponent should be enough for a win, scoring 3 in a half against a Power 5 school is very lacking. You can blame whatever you want, but at the end of the day, Petrino is responsible for scoring 3 points in a half against Memphis.

this. We need someone better suited in the AD position and it's not fucking Houston Nutt either however much he may be advertising he's available
Counterpoint to the Counterpoint to the Counterpoint.
Grandpa Petrino maybe doesn't have the say so to jerk a kid out of a game and certainly cannot get into a player's feels like he would have back in the day. It's a different world now.
#76 kept getting wrecked mostly on run blocking. I didn't notice it during the game but that explains why a lot of our mesh shit looked off...it's because he was getting his ass blasted and the mesh never had time to setup properly. Also the center and #55 were getting worked pretty good as well.
I too share the sentiments that Petrino probably doesn't "have it" and it might even end badly again if he were to be installed as head coach. On the other hand I feel like if he wants it then you got to let him take over sooner rather than later and just see how it goes...our recruiting is apparently already tanking and if NIL is something they care about then nothing says tanking like empty seats and people pulling out because the program is hammered shit. I don't think Petrino as head coach is going to necessarily get people that excited. We have to remember the bulk of the fan base is semi retarded yokels who still fawn over the days of Houston Nutt.
We're still going to be terrible on defense and will probably continue to be plagued with some iffy inconsistency on offense. Petrino's last teams at Louisville were much the same way btw. All that being said aside from a Malzahn who I've never really cared for or Petrino I'm not sure we're going to get a "name" that's going to get people excited enough to dial back into the weekly shit show.
I'll say it again, Petrino will be cheap as well. Hire Petrino and you don't have to pay buyouts for the offensive staff. There is your three million difference between firing Sam next Sunday and waiting for him to get below .500. Then Petrino will probably take the job for what Sam is making now or even less.

i agree. for an interim, he's probably the answer. you just cannot ignore the way it ended for him at louisville 2.0 and missouri st. it got ugly and the teams quit.
and the fact he hasn't shown he can go outside his comfort zone of familiar retreads and family member when hiring a staff. to get the gig next season, he'd have to do a hell of a lot of convincing to the folks that matter that he's changed.
Quote from: mde114 on Sep 22, 2025, 08:13 AMIf $3 million is an issue for Razorback athletics, they've got a bigger issue than Sam Pittman.
No kidding. A&M is still paying Jimbo $7 million per year until 2031 while also paying the current coach $7 million.
Petrino makes sense because I don't think HY even WANTS to hire the next HC. I think he is gone on his own at the end of the year. I think there is a pretty good chance that the plan was to let Sam finish out and let the new AD make his hire next year. Now, I think it is either Petrino as interim or face a booster coup that brings in Lashlee or Malzahn.
I'm lukewarm on Lashlee and don't want Malzahn. I'd take Petrino over Malzahn and probably over Lashlee. All three would be an improvement.
Quote from: Usafhawg on Sep 22, 2025, 08:25 AMCounter - counterpoints :) According to the WooPig, turnovers are due to a lack of discipline from coaching. The old Petrino wouldn't have allowed turnovers. Grandpa Petrino allows turnovers
Why not use his last year? He was 5-6 overall and 3-5 in the Missouri Valley Football Conference. I didn't go back further because I didn't believe that was Grandpa Petrino coaching back then. That was BMFP.
Counter counter counterpoint:
Grandpa Petrino is a construct that is yet unproven and, to date, there is no evidence to support it.
Bobby Petrino has a specific role as Offensive Coordinator/QB coach and he has excelled in that role. He is still just as much a maniacal stickler for perfection in every practice rep (according to players and what little video footage is allowed during practice) from every offensive player now as he was in 2011. His offense is efficient, effective and well-disciplined but is just as susceptible to mental errors by players as any other football team in America.
Were he to assume responsibility for the entire team, there is no reason to believe that he would accept anything less than perfection from the rest of his players and coaching staff.
If Grandpa Petrino
does exist the proof will be in his failure to seek the HC position.
he can demand all the shit he wants but the players can just fucking leave.
what current sec coach rawdogs his players on the sidelines like petrino used to? kirby gets a little animated but you don't see kiffin, heupel, or even drinkwitz getting in his players faces and they've been doing pretty damn good getting effort out of them. that hard ass shit not working got saban to realize it was time to go.
The season is lost. Petrino as interim and no more. Yuri is either fired or bails. Let new non Nutt AD hire the right young coach, who is hungry for opportunity. Don't care if they are successful and leave for Alabama down the road. The days of forever coaches is over. If Pittman stays there will be near 100 % departures of seniors and portals just like every year. So any sticking around for new coach is a plus.
In back of my mind if there is a hint of improvement in a loss they might not pull the pin. Never play defense with cancer, in your body or your organization

In Bobby, we trust. No need to look any further. He wants to be here. He never wanted to leave. Let bygones be bygones. Move forward. Players are more likely to follow the money than to fall in love with a coach these days.
And don't fire Yuri. He's done well with the other programs. Hire a permanent AD for football.

Agree on Bobby. We all get it. It could backfire, the BMFP may have done rowdied on down. But it's our only option to keep the fans in and avoid a complete from dirt restart again.
Worth the gamble. Tell him he can take the lead for the rest of the season on his current offensive coordinator salary. If it works, we'll work out the contract and deal this summer.
But you have to fire Hunter. He's dug a hole he can't crawl out of.

Idk. If you hire Petrino, for the rest of this year or beyond, what does Hunter really have to do that matters much other than manage? No body cares about WCBB or any of the others if he hires a dud. It's minimal repercussions.
We'd theoretically be set in all the big 3 for a few years. You can then take a little time to find and/or groom a real AD. we need a real AD, but we don't need to kneejerk hire one. Hunter is basically a pawn.
Just don't do anything stupid with Petrino and hamstring yourself to him like he did with Pitt. Of course, you can probably give Petrino a pseudo interview for the rest of this year, too, and see if a "Cal" type opportunity comes up or if he turns it around. Either way, big money is going to have their say with anyone new.
I was as pissed as everyone about Hunters comments, but they were true. Truth hurts. Regardless, they probably shouldn't have been said in public like that. Doesn't send a good message to the team or organization.

Reminds me of an old Spurrier quote about Vandy. I paraphrase...

Sam looked downright unbothered by the Memphis performance. Hell he even said we're doing things the right way (when we don't fumble or int or fail to tackle or let a 200lb backup sunbelt QB billy goat a 400lb sack of shit 8 yards for a first down) Other than that we're practically 4-0.

In reality at least 60% of the defense was loafing on EVERY play, and people should be riding the pine for that lack of effort. In his fantasy, it was just too hot. It's basically another article taking what someone else (media member) said and running with it like it's fact and of course this is what passes for sports journalism now and also all other kinds of journalism. Notice the article cites no sources to support it's claim that Petrino is "working the phones".
Again it's very possible Petrino has made it known thru certain circles that he would pick up the phone when it comes time. I doubt those kinds of conversations are all that unusual when a season looks like it's fixing to go tits up.
I know it's splitting hairs but I don't think he would be undermining Pittman. It's not like he called those fumbles to do just well enough in total yardage but just bad enough to lose

Not even close. 2011 we needed a fortunate break to beat Vandy and squeaked by Ole Miss. 2010 we went on the road to Cam's Auburn and fought the refs and went toe to toe.

Every team that ever won a title, outside of maybe 2019 LSU and 2001 Miami, needed major breaks against lesser teams. I agree that the 2010 team was better, but close escapes don't negate the success of the 2011 group.

2011 was worse across the board. Mallett was also a lot better than Wilson. No Knile and Childs wasn't as effective post injury. It wasn't close. Got absolutely smashed by the only two really good teams we played. 2010 went toe to toe with everyone and beat a damn good LSU team. Best Arkansas team in decades. Quote from: HTL on Sep 24, 2025, 07:48 AM2011 was worse across the board. Mallett was also a lot better than Wilson. No Knile and Childs wasn't as effective post injury. It wasn't close. They still won 10 games and finished 5th in the country. None of what you said is wrong, but none of it diminishes their accomplishments.
That 2010 Alabama game still sticks with me. We had them and Arkansawed the fuck out of it. Win that one and we likely beat Auburn, because the refs MIGHT have given us a fair shake had we gone in undefeated and had a chance (in the SEC office's view) at being the league's rep in the BCS championship game.

Who do you think they would prefer to be coaching Arkansas for the remainder of the year, Your buddy TitBoss or Petrino? We are 4-0 this year with Petrino as the HC from the start. There are probably 4+ games this year that would change drastically on our remaining schedule if he is the coach over titboss. You can call it what you want, but NOBODY on our remaining schedule wants Petrino as coach over Pittman. NOBODY.
You typed a whole lot to say nothing. We were REALLY good in 2011. We were also REALLY good in 2010, especially by the end of the year.

EVERY SINGLE COACH IN THE SEC wants Pittman to remain the coach of the University of Arkansas instead of Petrino taking over. Every single one.
Quote from: BleedinRed on Sep 24, 2025, 07:19 AMBasically we are a turnover factory. Color me shocked.
Turnovers and TO margin can vary wildly from year to year, but being consistently high in turnovers is
absolutely a key indicator of poor coaching and lax practice habits.
Basically, well-coached teams might turn the ball over from time to time, whereas poorly coached teams that don't practice hard (and are undisciplined) will usually always suffer from turnover issues.

Our Uber driver that took us from the airport to Golden talked nonstop about moving to Austin TX becuase they were tired of the liberals in Denver. If you think Austin Texas is a conservative paradise compared to where you live now, there are major problems.
We had dinner with family on Saturday who live in Castlerock. They are ready to move to Texas, Florida; anywhere but live in Denver. They said the same as your buddy. Denver has gone off the rails over the last 10 years.

When you sign a multimillion dollar contract, and know you are going to get paid whether you win or lose, what incentive do you have to really try? Especially when you are at or near retirement age. That is what we have dealt with and hopefully we get someone young and hungry to replace this slob. Screw hiring another older coach even if he has a good track record. Those guys are looking for a payday and a nice retirement. Put a carrot on the end of that string. Let them sign a contract but it pays in graduations. Win 5 games, you get x amount, and increase the amount for number of games won. I know coaches wouldn't go for that, but something needs to be done.

That contract was wild how it began because it was "ground breaking" performance based then Sexton got a hold of him and put HY over a barrel. I have to wonder what an AD with balls would have done when the contract was renegotiated. It's not a competition. I wasn't the first as there were many here who hated the hire from the start; I was hopeful he early humility could revive our fortunes. But his new contract and laziness turned me fast. I believe I am the most extreme darksider in that I have divorced my longterm (since 63) fandom from this cancerous program; I wish for losses to excise Sam Pittman from the state as I believe it's the only way he goes; he could stay here winning 7 games a year for eternity. No one else wished for a loss to bama A&M. HTL claims to be a darksider but he pumps the shit out of this shit squad.
I can't hate chili with beans more than Sam. Because chili doesn't exist with beans. Do I hate the bean soup a la chili con carne most of you eat. No. It's an existential construct I choose not to engage. And a secret: I was raised by my Texas mom on chili with beans, seasoned with packs of French's chili-o seasoning. I'm indifferent to what people put in it. Just be clear in what you call it.
It's not modern fries I hate. It's bad fries. I mean in n out does everything right almost but they suck. Fresh spuds, but not aged, rinsed, but not double fried. Or cardboard frozen fries. With my diabeetus I don't spend carbs on them. But there is hope. We are seeing a comeback for beef tallow and duck fat fries out there, which is gamechanging for fries over seed oils.
Also, if you're wondering about Laura's just fucked hair this morning in Athens, well yes she was, just before I sent her down to meet her driver.

The obsession with Texas has to stop. "He has deep Texas roots!"
Who fucking cares?
We need someone who understands that SEC football is a different animal than other conferences. Every weekend is a battle. No rest. And no fucking large buyouts. If we hire someone from a lesser conference, pay him more than he is making, but not a huge amount. Make him earn a raise.
Quote from: Thin Red Swine on Sep 27, 2025, 02:47 PMBut can he get five star talent across the board?
Let's shoot for getting one.

100%. Go hire a D2 coach whose teams win 10 every year. We need someone who knows what winning looks like.

Well, definitely don't need a coach who can take 4 and 3 star talent and turn them in 2 and 1 star talent.

You need to let go of the talent rope. We have enough talent to not be pathetic. This team is soft and doesn't have a winning mindset or culture. That's coaching and lack of leadership amongst the players.

No one is saying that. But it's not the sole solution.
Petrino got them to play like 5s when they weren't. Holtz did that. It can still be done.
Our history shows we're not going to get a lot of elite talent.

It's not very thin. However, we always seem to look really small compared to other teams to me.
Quote from: Thin Red Swine on Sep 27, 2025, 03:33 PMThis. The talent margin across programs is very thin anyway.
Exactly.
People see 3 star vs 5 star and think the latter is 67% better. In reality it's more like 95 vs 85 and a 10-12% difference between the worst and best rosters at this level. Coaching can either close that gap or, in our case, magnify it.
When Petrino was here first time the 85s played like 90-95s. With Pittman the 85s turn into 75s or worse.
The continued hatred for Nutt is kinda funny. I hated him too and the underachieving and the lack of discipline penalties, flirting with Nebraska, all the yokels with the "good Christian man" nonsense, and the way he left. There's still a lot to reflect on and not like. There were missed opportunities - 1999 as the most glaring example, 0-fer November, 'that was a called play', 'hello Mr Interception King.' On and on it goes.
However, looking back on his 10 years and Petrino's four, we had an overall winning record in the SEC.
I see everyone on Twatter talking about how Pittman is 'an exceptional/great human being, but...' type of bullshit. How would they even know that? He's fat so that makes him non-threatening to other fat people I guess. What does that have to do with winning? More than you'd think. It takes determined, disciplined, almost psychopathic-minded overachieving men to be good at this type of thing. Physiognomy check says it won't be a wide-bodied diabetic.
We didn't know the good years when we were in them. Our future is behind us and it feels like it's always been behind us.
Embrace the horror.
Notice every time they showed our sideline, particularly Pittman, there was no one motivating, talking to or trying to get the players up. The old saying, "a fish stinks from its head down", applies. Pittman could not motivate anyone to HY.
Never once habe I said it was the only issue. Everyone wants to fire the coach who is under contract and would have to be bought out. My point all along is if you wanted to win more games, bringing in better talent would help make that happen sooner. Rather than waiting for a buyout to drop.
You can't say we would not have won more games the last few years if we did what TT has done.
1969 Sugar Bowl. Arkansas vs Georgia. We were way smaller than they were, but our offensive/defensive plans won it for us 16-2. We shot gaps and used a different style of blocking. And we used speed to beat them. We were small, but fast. I remember a picture showing nearly every man on the defensive line in their backfield on one play. That is coaching. I think if I were a coach, I would instruct one of my defensive coaches to work up a scheme to defeat my offense. Then I would plan on that happening and scheme accordingly. Same on defense.

Yeah, I'd just like to look at the sideline and not see a head coach on our sideline with a disinterested or dumbfounded look and/or with a mouth agape catching flies.
I mean, I feel like that's a pretty low hurdle.

We may have won a couple more games over the years, but I don't think it would be much. Our biggest issue there is a culture of losing. We give up leads and collapse under pressure and lose how many by a score? Even better talent can't fix a culture issue... instead they usually collapse into it themselves.

Now what do we have? A program with a statue HC and shit for talent. Go sell that to the next guy.

This is undoubtedly true. We've gotten a few guys from Georgia in recent years, and the reality is maybe those guys were really third/fourth stringers there. Those guys' egos wanted to still say they were SEC players, so here they are.

If Pittman was ever going to be a head coach he would've been one before we hired him. I would take Petrino back if he even wanted the job. If not we need to find a Cornrows, a HC having success at a smaller school. I don't even know if the job is that attractive now. There really isn't a mid major coach that would be considered a great hire. Maybe Sumrall or Traylor, but neither of those get my piss hot.

It's not a talent problem. It's a coaching problem unless you think LSU and Ole Miss lack talent too. As pitiful as the defense is, we beat ole miss if we don't fumble. With any kind of a defense we win comfortably.

I don't see the utility in automatically rolling over contracts anymore. Used to you always wanted your coach to have at least a five year contract for recruiting. You wanted to be able to tell a kid that you would be there for all four or five years. That no longer applies in the age of unrestricted transfers and the portal.

Quote from: Hogfan58 on Sep 27, 2025, 07:35 PMI'd hire someone from the SD St, ND St, Montana St coaching tree. Those teams win, play physical and I would think the coaches are looking to move up. They would be use to the "talent" we have.
Those guys often play great football but the sec game is different for money , portal, recruiting. I'd be looking for someone that was a SEC coordinator of note and then maybe hc at a lesser p4/ g5 school with some success. Or if we got the bucks steal a coach that's capable of being on a dais with Cal and DVH.
It's all moot until we see Sam is fired.

Oh,well if he says it, sounds to me like we've recently become flush with cash.
Sam always said he'd never coach elsewhere. This was the last stop. He wouldn't have to be fired. Then he fired his lifelong agent and signed with Sexton. Regardless there was no leverage. Want more money? "Sorry, Coach out your contract. Thanks for pulling the program out of the shit. We can now attract a better coach."
Yuri bent over and gave Sam this ridiculous contract. With a goofy buyout and the .500 goal. That should have been based on SEC games not all games. Yuri set it up for a. Bama A&M to count the same as Georgia. Big raise. $42 mill is what he'll steal from the RF.
He gone yet
HY screwed over dedicated fans with unnecessary ticket realignments. He lets players from mediocre seasons choose the coach and then gets swindled after a 9 win season. And we wonder why money is now tight.

If they really are sweating it out over 3mil we aren't offering anyone close to 10mil. You just know we're going to offer Gus the keys to the program again, and when he says no we'll go after Lashlee or Odom, then we'll give Lunney Jr a call.

Lanning was the DC at Georgia when he got the job. He was born in 1986.
Scour the most successful teams, decide which they are better at, offense or defense, and get that coordinator off one of those teams.
Alternately, he was a grad assistant at Alabama in 2015. Brent Key was also there that year. Get somebody off that staff.

It's gonna be interesting to see how Petrino does the remainder of the year. This is likely his last shot at a P4 job.
Prediction.
BP wins two or three more games, well, but not well enough to get the job. But he impresses and gets another SEC job and kicks ass. We get Lashlee and he is an improved version of Chad.
I bet Petrino ends up at okie state.
in the end it's going to be whoever the big money is going to be able to convince to take the job.
someone came up with not only the cash for buyout but to pay off the staff and get the new guy. they don't do that because they're being nice guys. i'm afraid lashlee and mahlzan (if he wants it) are going to be the way up on the list.

Gus would win. Lashlee too probably. I just can't get by this.

My guess is that Petrino winds up at Okie State, but like several have said, we get stuck with Lashlee (Chad 2.0) or Gus (Chad 0). I don't know if Petrino can really win here now... what I do know is that any version of Chad is not the correct answer.

They can hire Petrino to a favorable contract. If he salvages the season, the job is his.
Comparing Lashlee to Morris is just straight up retarded. Not Forrest Gump "a little slow" either.
The only thing they really have in common is that they have both coached SMU, with the exception that only one of them actually won there. And he did so in a much tougher league where he probably had the 10th best roster.
Alex Golesh at USF is my top pick, but Lashlee wouldn't be terrible. Especially if he could motivate the Six Flags over Jesus crowd to unass some significant NIL funds.

basketball seems to do it with no problem. yes, the roster sizes are different but you don't have to give all the players on the team big money. just the ones that can really make a difference.
How much is lashlee considered a Gus lite, Gus clone anyway?

His offense is predicated on Gus's system, which makes total sense since he was taught under him from HS on up. Though he seems to focus more on passing than Gus, and I think he's actually had success with pocket passers and not just mobile QBs like Gus. His offense is a bit more watchable than say Chad's "offense". However, it's still largely that same crap you see Gus always run... just slightly changed.
May be a stupib question, but how many buyouts are we paying right now? Are we still paying Chad? Seems like that total keeps rising.
If Lashlee is on Dork at Mizzou's level in terms of being a Gus clone then I'm not a huge fan but we'll at least give him a 2 year pass. Personally I bet he passes on the job...he's got it pretty good at SMU in a soft ACC where the path to a playoff is much easier. The only way you would take the Arkansas gig is you want to retire at 55 48 and have plenty of buyout money to live off of the rest of your days.

You know... This is how you know it is bad. I hate Nutt. However, I'm not sure it's such a bad idea having him as an AD. He'd get his ego stroked, but probably could get the money rolling in. He was a motivator. His players loved him, and they said that his practices were even tougher than Petrino's. People in the area love him, I assume that he knows how to work the money folks... since that appeals to his narcissistic nature. The down side is having to hear from the bastard, and you just KNOW he'd step all in to the football program. Though, maybe it could work.
Fuck it has gotten bad. The curse is a cruel bitch!

His ego would make him be the one who would do all the post game interviews.
You would have Nutt down on the field with Chris Vaughn on the sidelines as "coach". No thanks.

You're right. Thank you for the sobering imagery. That's a dark path you saved my mind from.
It's hard to imagine Nutt's practices were more difficult than Petrino's. I get a sense of a little PTSD from DJ and crew when they speak of them.

Well, that just goes from dark side to apocalypse. That happens and I'm permanently done and I'll have to be a TCU or Tsip fan. I knew Hootie Dale in fourth grade. Fuck that cocksucker, his brain bleed brother, his homo son, his mistress.
Y'all thought I was joking with my "AD Nutt" comments? How do you know I'm not a time traveler?
If somehow we won the natty and Nutt was AD, you know he'd grab that crystal first lol.

I hate Nutt, but Yurachek is just as much of (if not moreso) a performative dipshit.
Always on the sideline and featured prominently in Hogs+ content when we win, and completely AWOL when we lose.
And like Nutt, he's become a gaffe machine who's an embarrassment in front of a microphone.
Nutt as AD would be worse than Jerry Jones and the Cowboys. He would have his own podcast, be on the radio constantly, be on the sideline next to the coach, hand out t-shirts of himself, run on the field with the team, honor himself at halftime, retire his number, put up pictures of himself all over the stadium, show himself on the big screen...
At this point I'm convinced HY has been given his last chance to make a good FB hire. I'm also betting he made it real clear to the BOT & Chancellor what THE problem is and it was probably something none of them wanted to hear. I'm just wondering if there was some kind of coming to Jesus meeting where everyone decided and got committed to this notion that we are going to have to get off some asses and pay up.
I think Woodshog made a case for this and that is how the UA is setup with the state is a limiting factor. How we are organized financially is a problem as we have funds in A that we really need in B but can't legally move it there or something. We are always 5 to 10 years behind the competition in changing with the times etc etc. That's not all on the AD as he's got to have the funding to make it work.
I'm not a HY fan but we've already shown that we can do worse with Jeff Long. Traditionally AD's will get a couple two or three football hires at most schools before they are run oft. HY is no different. If he hires another loser and it's abundantly clear after a couple years then I'd think HY will be gone and the loser coach will follow a year or two after once the new AD is firmly established.

I think it's just how bad things have gotten. Easy to not think of his shenanigans when we've been dealing with the dumpster fires we've been dealing with.
I think it's almost easier to totally suck, than it is to ask what if. Nutt personally cost us a couple of chances to contend.
Regardless of opinions about the man, Good news is Nutt has no qualifications to be an AD.

I'm certain you are right about Yurachek. He convinced them that the only choice was Pittman and now he's in a better spot to get a great coach. I think he has communicated how he's in a tight spot of having to balance projecting how awesome this job is with hinting to donors that we need money. I'm sure he has them convinced that he's the only person who can navigate that right now.
If he wasn't going to be the guy to pick the next coach, he and Sam would be splitting a U-Haul today. He better not fuck it up and end up hiring a position coach lifer.

I think that is the point. ADs seem to come up the administrative ranks now. Not sure there are many former fooseball coaches who are annointed the AD title these days.

Yeah, that would be a 1. No,
2. He'll no, and
3. ok but far from our first choice even with Arkansas fans. Can't imagine LSU being ok with that. That's is the kind of stupidity you get when you won a national championship with Coach O though. You think anyone can do it at LSU.

Homegrown overall talent, but more importantly homegrown linemen will make LSU a contender every year.
I wonder if NIL will hurt the
home state type schools with kids who used to be locks for their home team?

Time to retire this thread to the classics, I suppose.
Does the new site have a classics section? Might need to get on that.
We were between a rock and a hard space after the Morris debacle. We were competitive when Odom was (in my opinion) essentially the head coach. It started going to shit after he left. I also think that is why they brought Petrino in but he didn't have control over defensive coaching personnel.
I suspect upon his arrival Petrino saw how bad Sam really was as a head coach. He knew immediately there wasn't anything he could do to fix the situation so he decided to let the entire thing resolve itself organically.

I doubt that. Petrino hates losing. My guess is he tried repeatedly to help make things better, and it didn't work because Sam loved his coaches and players too much to be mean or hard on them.

this. I also think he was forced to deal with hiring Bobby or he would have been canned. He knew the writing was in the wall and waited till Sam just completely fell apart and knew he was next in line to step in and do as he wanted

Nope. Even for the most Type A, once you see you can't effect change you either quit or move up to the coaches box, stay out of the way, and let nature do its thing. I think things are probably unraveling just as BP thought they would. And he simply waited for his time.

I have no doubt that Bobby knew what was coming. I just think the notion of him biding his time or throwing in the towel or throwing games (not that you've suggested that - I've seen that tripe all over the internet by detractors) or playing the snake in the grass (again not suggesting you said that), is nonsense. I think he probably tried his best to help fix shit, and I'd venture a guess that it caused some rifts between he and the rest of the staff and maybe even Pittman. I'd say it's more likely that Pittman refused to change things or follow his advice. Those things may have contributed to his decision to move to the box this year. Knowing Bobby's general demeanor and attitude when it comes to losing, I have a very hard time picturing him just standing aside and letting it all fail. But maybe he did...
I also have heard rumors that since he has been here this time he has still been playing that whole protect the offense at the cost of the defense thing he used to do in practices his first time. Stuff like not tackling to the ground, etc. So that may also be a contributing factor, especially between he and TWill. (If true, that is).

Nope. Was absolutely not forced to hire him. Bobby and Sam were friendly prior to.
In this case, HTL is correct.
