Anyone going to Las Vegas? Where are you staying? Best way to get tickets, etc.
Staying at the Rio. Wife got a pretty good deal (they rape you on out of state resort fees though). Still trying to get tickets. Don't want nosebleeds, but also don't want to donate towards a scalper's tuition fund drug habit.
Booked at Horseshoe (formally Ballys). Seatgeek tickets are really high. Looking for a better option.

How does anyone even scalp a ticket any more when everything is on the phone?

They might not be standing outside with a sign, but they'll definitely buy out tickets from any avenue they can and flip them on sites like vivd seats for 10x what they got them for.

If you go to the T-Mobile venue page, the tickets are sold out. So theoretically, all tickets will have juice on them.

If it was like it was 15 years ago it has lots of womens dancing on the casino machines. Probably lots of trans womens now though.
I have a distant cousin, 4th or something Idk, who was the corporate lawyer for Holiday Inn when they owned Harrah's and Rio. When I was in high school we went out to visit and that dude got us hooked up with top-level room at Harrah's for nothing. Friday night we go to meet him and his wife at the restaurant at Rio (Voodoo's?) and when we walk up to the front of the hotel I'm noticing this Saleen Mustang convertible with the top down and keys in the ignition. While we're eating he says something to me about his new car and I have to ask. Of course in his midlife crisis he had stopped and bought that Mustang on the spur of the moment, and had the habit of parking at the front doors and letting security watch his stuff for him.
Csb and all but corporate lawyers are awesome tour guides in a place like Vegas. Want to see security rooms, vaults, or where bodies in cornfields are buried? Knowing a guy like him is one of the ways.

Yeah, our last team's trip to Vegas didn't go so well.
Most of our O line on the blackjack tables at 2 AM less than 48 hours before game time was kind of a clue that we weren't exactly locked in on that trip.

Obviously depends on what type of view you're looking for, but near as I can tell, just to get in the door is a little under $350 per if you're buying for both sessions and about $230 for just the first day. Of course that will get you somewhere on top of the arena.
Looks like we will be at Park MGM.

It will be when the owner transfers it. They haven't done that yet. I called customer care last night and was told that they reached out to the owner, but it may take up to minutes before the game before it's released. So I get to drive to Vegas, wait in line twiddling my thumbs while hoping it magically arrives before tip.

the axs app is notoriously terrible. If you buy tickets via the site they'll charge you $20 per ticket which blows then if you wanna sell them, you enter them for sale, they take another $20 per ticket to sell and then they won't give you the money from the sale till the day after the concert or event. Hell, stubhub charged me $630 for "processing and handling" fees. Not sure how handling comes into play for a digital ticket, but that is some expensive processing. They must triple distill their tickets and store them in the finest digital oak barrels before passing them along.

About 4.5 hours. I'll be calling them soon to see what's what.
Well this blows. Just called and was told that they are trying to find replacement tickets, but are having trouble (you don't say!?). When voicing my displeasure at the whole situation, I was told:
1. "This rarely happens"( what does that matter? It's happening now)
2. "Well sir, you tried buying them 3 days before the event"(what does that matter and are you saying it's my fault?)
3.*and this one is the kicker* "No one forced you to use stubhub, sir" (I replied, "you're right about that and can be damn sure I won't be using them again")
Nearly lost it on that last one. So now I have a deadline of 9:00 for them to find the replacement tickets. 1 hour after I was supposed to leave. Anybody need a room? Doesn't look I'll be using it.
I think you have to start driving. A few wasted hours and some gas are worth it if by some miracle they get you a ticket, even if you end up turning around.
It sucks, but you could buy a cheap seat. I'm sure those sections will be full of Arkansas fans and you'll still have a good time.

They did something similar to me when the Hogs played Hofstra in NLR year before last.
I found a pretty good deal on sideline seats. Bought them. Seller realized he priced them too low and pulled them back. StubHub's offer of "comparable" seats were either in the end zone high up, or on the sideline in the upper deck.
My response was, "How about these seats two rows up in the same section? (that were about $50 per seat more).
StubHub: "Those are out of the price range for comparable seats."
Me: "Not my problem. Charge the difference to the credit card of the guy who fucked me over."
StubHub: "We aren't able to do that."
Me: "So you're saying that someone can list tickets, pull them back after they've sold, and not face any reprisals?"
StubHub: "No. If we catch them doing this, they will be banned from using our service."
A few hours later...
Me: "The seats that I originally bought are listed again, for a much higher price. I thought the seller was going to be banned for pulling back tickets that had already been sold."
StubHub: "We are still investigating."
Me: "Do you need my confirmation of the ticket purchase, which shows the seats I bought and the price I paid?"
StubHub: "That won't be necessary."
Me: "The game is tomorrow night. What are you planning to do to make this right?"
StubHub: "We have offered you comparable seats."
Me: "No, you haven't. You have offered me terrible seats that happen to be priced in the same range as the ones I originally bought."
StubHub: "I'm sorry. That is the best we can do."
Me: "OK. Just refund my money then."
StubHub: "We can issue you a credit for future purchases."
Me: "Fuck you. Refund my money."
StubHub: "I'm sorry. We can't do that."
Me: "Never mind. I'll report it to AmEx as a fraudulent charge. Fuck off."
They did end up refunding my money after this.
Two lessons:
1) use SeatGeek. They haven't fucked me over (yet).
2) use AmEx for online purchases. They lean towards the side of the cardholder rather than the merchant in disputes unless evidence is obviously favoring the latter.
Two THREE things that FUCKING SUCK but that doesn't change the fact that this is simply how it's going to be:
1) Online/virtual tickets vs. paper
2) Retail store self checkout
3) Cell phone call quality vs. land line

The problem isn't as much with virtual tickets as it is StubHub's failure to adjust to acquiring those tickets.
They need to come up with a way to immediately acquire the tickets once someone lists them and invalidate the originals. They are able to do this with venues and/or teams with whom they have partnerships.
And self checkout is a fabulous invention. I can get in and out much faster checking out my own stuff than I can waiting on someone else to do it for me. I don't like it being the only option, as some people just don't move fast enough to avoid creating bottlenecks.
There should be a pre release of tickets each school gets for season ticket holders. Those that pick the site initially will automatically get tickets. Still gives a window for those that change their mind and want to go. Of course the tickets we got through the UofA for the SEC tourney you needed binoculars to see the game.
The ticket industry is as corrupt as they come.
Why are we paying $20 convenience fees per ticket to buy or sell tickets online? Why? How is this legal? The convenience fee for axs is 33% now. There is now a petition in Denver to cancel its contract with axs over insane fees. If you live in Denver then you know how annoying axs is...90% of the time you try to buy tickets it goes down and won't allow. The site is riddled with bugs. Wanna buy red rocks tickets...good luck. I've had success with only non sold out shows. Almost every time I get into a queue when open, wait 30 mins for the tickets to go on sale and when my turn to purchase the site goes down
The older I get, the nicer it is to watch it on my big screen and drink cheap beer. StubHub is a pile of shit.

My time is more valuable than any perceived benefit I gain from someone else checking out my groceries.
If I save 2-3 minutes, I won...even if I had to scan and bag my own stuff. And I always save at least that long...usually a lot more given the standard lines at the human checkouts.

But you actually have to compare a world with an adequate number of checkers (Walmart has like 24 lanes) versus the world where they only keep 2 lines open.
Done right, employee check out should not be any longer.

My thoughts are based on the world we actually live in, versus the one from 1994. If our minimum wage was even remotely in line with the actual cost of living here instead of being based on the standard on the coasts, we probably would still have a lot of checkers. Blame the feel good idiots who lack even a kindergarten level of economic understanding...at least here in Arkansas.
I don't work at the horse track either, but I've always preferred entering my own bets on a terminal rather than waiting on a teller who expects a tip if I'm cashing a ticket. One, I'm infinitely faster at entering what I want. Two, if I fuck up the ticket it's on me and not the little old lady who was trying to listen to and comprehend what I was telling her which horses to put on the bet slip.

my Walmart, target and Kroger are all insufficiently staffed...however Walmart is the worst. At any given time there are only two lanes open. The self checkout at all is typically longer than check out because nobody is ever on the checkout lanes

Nice move. Same seat, less money.

Upon further review should have cut them loose last night, wouldn't have mattered.

Judging by the results, I'm not sure they didnt.
Ok this is the last thing I'll say about this before I burn it from my hippocampus for all eternity (drunk off my ass if it isn't obvious). It wasn't as easy as just taking my seat. There was a lounge security entrance thing at the front of sectionbl 5 and 6 (looked like a damn nightclub). Lady at the entrance asked to see my ticket and I showed her the receipt for the original ticket that started this whole $h1t*0w. Played dumb when the said that wouldn't work and she needed a qr code (which I never got). She called the manager over and he told me he needed to see the code that let me through the gate (it was a qr code for an upper deck ticket I bought just to get in, but I wasn't about to show them that). Played dumb and pissed, while showing them the screenshot of my $3k receipt. Guy asked how did you get in, that won't clear you through the gate. I told him that's what I got because I can't seem to pull up the Axs app with the reception here. He said "screw it, I'll let you in to the bar area till you find the qr code." I said thank you and made my way to my seat when he wasn't looking. Made a quick wardrobe change (took off my glasses and hat,l and put on a facemask) and sat there till somebody came.
Turns out the guy that had the ticket was a scout for the warriors (more on that later). He showed me his axs app, I showed him my screenshot of a receipt for a ticket that was now defunct. He told me we could clear it up with the ushers, but I told him I would just slide down to an open seat and see if anybody shows up. Turns out nobody did. So I sat in a $3k seat for $100 and talked it up with an NBA scout while we both watched the most craptastic game in the ncaa tournament to date. */csb* Screw stubhub. I'm passing out now.

This afternoon when you wake up you'll have to tell us what you remember about his draft thoughts on our players.
When I watched the game there were sections completely empty. We're these the seats you tickets that got tickets through axs or stub hug had but didn't get the seats?

Gonzaga and UCLA fans may have been still out to dinner or at the tables.

did y'all not think it was weird or were all the sections empty just too expensive? It was odd

I was too traumatized from the violence and bloodshed on the court to notice the stands.

Those seats were the allotment to the other two schools. When you buy a ticket for all sessions, that's literally what it means. You're buying for all 3 games that weekend. Obviously Gonzaga and ucla didn't care to watch our game and very few sold to people that did. Can't really blame them after the performance we put on.

So I asked him who he was there to see primarily and he said there were a few prospects, but mentioned AB specifically. Said he really liked his game. I asked him if the TO's were concerning (that he was good for at least one wtf play every game). He said that he wasn't because that stuff can get ironed out, but his size is something you rarely see in a pg and that he just makes other people around him better. I told him that he also has about as much heart and toughness as anybody, playing with several nagging injuries throughout the year. He said "really?" and looked surprised like he didn't know that (which was surprising to me for a scout not to know that about a guy that's high up on their board supposedly). I told him that it's seemed to hamper his penetration lately. He loved how he finishes at the rim and isn't afraid to compete for boards amongst the trees. I pointed out how active his hands are on the defensive side (then he went on to make several steals throughout the game).
For the other players I asked him about:
NSJr- Lukewarm. Haven't seen enough of him
Davis-undrafted. Maybe a shot to prove himself in G league
Walsh- definitely needs another year
Council- Too inconsistent and jittery on offense. Needs to settle in and work on his shot. Makes too few to be shooting that much.
He didn't want to say it, but outside of AB, he was much more impressed with the uconn guys.

Even "inside" of AB, I was much more impressed with the UConn guys.
