I can give my brief take on it. When you attempt to transfer custody of an entity like woopig, it has to be done on a more official basis than a handshake. The new custodians have to have passwords and contact info transferred. If you don't get that done, notices about the server lapsing aren't seen and then the ability to log in and fix things isnt available.

I don't want to shit on Steve because I know him in real life, did some business with him for a while, and always found him to be a stand-up guy. But he doesn't come out of this looking good from what I've seen. It sure seems like he was more interested in preserving the legacy of what he built than he let on publicly. And he did build and host Woopig, but without the rest of us (and those who used to post but moved on) the place would have been nothing.

I'm just stoked that it's back. I rarely posted anything but I have been a member since 2003 or 2004 and spent WAY too much time on the board to not be actually sad when it was gone. I always felt that it was a real connection to home and the Hogs after I had to move away for work after college. Like some of the other guys have already said, I will gladly pitch in some money to keep it around.

Let me just say this. I'm old enough to remember a lot of the admins from prior to the attempted coup. In fact I imagine a good deal of us are that old. I don't specifically know what went down, or can't remember shit...but I know what the result was. We had a great group of admins that followed and had a good run and then it was burned down without much reason given. That's been something like 7 years ago. WPFM, Cotte, Drod77, Verotik in particular largely moved on with life. Notaslibro moved on for other reasons either before or after that I can't recall. Certainly you can't run a board this long without people coming and going. People grow up, move on, lose interest, get butthurt or bigghurt, get old/sick and die.
I know in the big picture what woopig.org has managed to do in a matter of a few days is sign up what 150 members? Something like that. Clearly there was still a lot of interest in this board and certainly plenty of people here who would not have just let it die and this .org is evidence of that. A simple post a week ahead probably would have avoided the issue, it may not have prevented the site being down for a week but it would have probably given time to get a proper backup.
For the 2nd time that I've been involved in this entire board process this particular individual didn't so much as give a thanks or a pat on the back to the people have have kept it going thru the years. It's all about his ego in that

Naturally there is going to be other interests that fans are going to want to discuss and it serves that purpose as well. I think it needs the p and r board to keep it separate from the rest. I also think we can do that without 7th grade insults. I personally don't have a problem with those because it lets you know the mentality of the person that uses them.
We don't need heavy handed administrating. We don't need cliques or private boards or admins with an agenda to drive it where it needs to go. The members drive it.
I'm very happy that people have chosen to continue and hope everybody stays active to make it viable.

But woopig is not an address or beholden to any person's whims. Woopig is a collection of assholes too cool, belligerent and intelligent to be anywhere else who know their shit and love the Hogs.
I know a lot of lurkers who are terrified to post here. Smart, good people you'd like to have a beer with who would rather have a prison colonoscopy than post. Yet they depend on this board and I took calls from random rmpl woopigers that were really bummed the board was down. All from the guy who less than a year ago was here again, raising funds to keep it alive. Then shortly after, posted in P&R that he was done, and turning over ownership to someone else. Except...theres that pesky little fact that he didnt turn it over to new ownership. Yet he kept the name, and still to this day refuses to not only release it to the new owners, he rubs our face in it by announcing that its now his new blog, and comments are turned off.
I'll say this..OQ is a better man than me, because he's kept his mouth mostly shut, when I would've been dragging that asshole across the internet and back after he tossed me under the bus like that. And for all the shit Yelana got, she won, because that's when he started getting scared. That's when his attorney got in his ear about that pesky little liability he called his message board. It's no coincidence that he stopped posting shortly after she (his 'attorney') did. The change in the political climate was a friendly coincidence to blame it on. "Those mean ole republicans."

I don't know who needs to read/hear this. I don't know how many old eyeballs are on this post but if any of the old admins and old posters read this I just want to say thank you for paving the way. There have been so many thru the years, many of the names I've forgotten. A few of those guys didn't care much for me and that's ok. I'm friends with many others on facebook and twitter. The ones that hate me can fuck themselves, but thanks nonetheless. That being said the past is in the past. Many of these members are welcome to come back, some not so much.
We've lost a lot of our liberal leaning members and that is regrettable. Clearly it's the one criticism of the board that people do need to take to heart. P&R as I recall was always rough on people. As far back as I can remember it was mainly rough on whomever was deemed a dumb ass newb. It wasn't so much that you were this or that...it was that your ass was stupid and people were all too glad to let you know it. That's the tradition of woopig that will not change. Ok we may soften up a bit, certainly we need to be more accepting that not everyone thinks the same way. As I see it anyone that can bring an intelligent take to the forum will be accepted regardless of which way it hangs.
These days an administrator on woopig is not all that eventful. In olden times we needed a fairly large group monitoring and sorting out the retards. We would put up The Snorting News...I think Shoat put that together if I'm not mistaken. Twitter and the rest of social media made that basically pointless. The front page that nobody saw had a lot of content. Steve and others put a good deal of effort into that and it just wasn't seen.
I find it interesting who's signing up...who's participating. I don't know what our numbers were before .net's sunsetting...but it certainly felt like participation was falling off. I think what we are seeing is we have a lot of lurker types which we already knew but that they are coming back and getting a handle says something about this place. We want to continue to improve and build. A blank canvas gives license to things that previously probably wouldn't have been tried or paid attention to. We have posters putting together new threads that we all know are going to be mega threads in a couple years. Likewise we have a lot of nuanced threads being created filling up the board with new topics and new conversations. I was worried people wouldn't know what to do without the old shit clogging up the board.
Luckily we had some folks step in and get it handled. This stuff isn't plug and play...you have to kinda know what the heck you are doing on the back-end. It's not a couple hours and a pint of beer and damn sure isn't when things get sunsetted without anyone knowing it's coming...
I would imagine a good many of us including me have come to a point where we've lost interest in the board. Some go away for good, some take a sabbatical for a few months. Anywhere where was I...I love all you sumbitches.

One disappointment I have about losing all the old data: the "movies, books & TV" forum.
I am intentionally late on watching/binging old TV series and movies.
It was sort of a guilty pleasure to search those 8-10 year old series and read them as I took in each season for myself - a very satisfying way to learn what people were thinking as those episodes, etc. were being released.
All gone now. Too bad.

There's no grand conspiracy of posters leaving Woopig.... or message boards in general because of mean posting. I'd say it has to do more with general stupidity that gets posted simply getting old after a while. Old men and old women are the ones everyone wants to get away from at the family dinner when they go out on the porch and start ranting. Did you anxiously await your uncle's forwarded emails a decade ago?
There seems to be a sentiment that a lot of posters are gone that many people here "miss". Did you miss them because they were dullards... or because they brought good takes?
People get bored of the dumb stuff and the personal attacks. I personally grew bored when I realized how incredibly myopic the football takes here could be.... just like they were in P&R. I mean, this is a sports board and the posters are supposed to at least know something about football, right? Coincidentally, it's a lot of the same people with dumb sports takes as political takes. Also, I think message boards are a bit of a dying breed. With so much other stuff out there now...however I like it for passing the time during the work week. I only post dumb shit. I figure if I can make someone smile, I have done something good. Also, you can sometimes get good info on here. Not financial or political, but repair, or maybe if you are in the market to buy something and someone has experience with it. And sometimes, the board makes you think. I don't let anyone get under my skin, and if I don't like what somebody posts, I pass by it. In other words, this message board helps me pass time, but in no way controls my happiness, or life. I enjoy it. That is why I am here. And I have met some of the guys on here (you included) and the ones I have met, seem to be good guys, no matter their political affiliation or religion. I have my life, and I control it (along with God). I don't let others dictate my life. But,I am glad the board survived and I am here. And I am old. But I enjoy a lot of the posts on here. Woopig filters out most of the complete idiots who spew bullshit without educating themselves beyond what their preferred mainstream network tells them. I'd rather discuss issues with people who, for the most part can debate them somewhat intelligently than on a public forum like Facebook or Twitter. this. I used to post a lot in the P&R forum on here 10-15 years ago. Back then it was the opposite of how it is now. But I left all my arguments in that board. I was also a member of another board similar to this one that was destroyed because the owner would not/could not keep his and his posters politics out of other threads
I think it's important to have the p&r board to keep it out of the razorback discussions. Historically, woopiggers seem to be the type that aren't easily offended or get their feelings hurt easily. For those that struggle with that, it seems it should be very easy not to click that board.
The main way to enforce that is by the members. I think most people are on board with keeping it separate.

It depends on how regular you are/have been before the prep. Some folks can get "there" with half the prep, some folks need the whole thing. Basically...you need to chug til you're shitting stuff that looks a lot like piss just came out of your butthole. They lean on the safe side to make sure they can see what they want to see without obstruction. If you tell the average joe they can gauge how much they need to drink, they are going to fuck it up and have to go back and do the prep all over again.
I also don't know why they restricted your diet 2 days before. I have never heard of anybody having to do that. Also, recent studies have shown that you can eat the actual
day before while you are doing your prep as long as you stick to low-residue, low-color foods. Think chicken, lunch meat, eggs, white bread, rice, mac & cheese, ice cream (vanilla). Basically...anything without fiber or that is dark in color as those foods/drinks can obstruct their view and/or appear as blood in the procedure.

they told me to go all liquid the day before and my check jn was 8am today. My last meal was Saturday evening but I ate jello, broth ect yesterday. I saw where I could have eggs ect that morning but I was trying to clean it out so I didn't have to drink all that shit. I took half and it did the job. Glad I didn't eat much cause it didn't take much to clean me out. I did see the study you mention that eating the day before doesn't do much. I also ate a Mexican pizza and a taco Friday when they said to eat bland food so

It's just the culture these days. Everything is politic. You have to make a conscious effort not to veer into politics in everyday conversation. This seems like one of the biggest complaints. I think the best way to deal with it is for everybody to call the post out and tell them to take it to p&r. If you see somebody call a poster out for it, back them up. If we all stay consistent with it, it should be less and less of a problem.

I think some if not all of those left because of the tone of the board. It seems like we as a group have gotten less misogynistic over the last several years, with some exceptions obviously. I mean, we still have TOPIWLTFT, but Charlie and others participated in that in their own way, so I don't think it was the main issue.
Also, message boards are the last refuge of the old guy (or the young guys with old souls). Once Facebook became a thing for older people we lost most of the opportunity for bringing in ladies over here.

We were at a point where anytime someone posted about a women's sports event, someone chimed in with "I'd hit it." I'm sure you and I were guilty of it then at times as well, so I'm not casting stones. Losing Charlie in particular was kind of a wake up call for me to tone it down. You have to expect and accept a little bit of locker room talk when hanging out with a bunch of guys talking sports, but I agree it went over the line for a long time. Like I said above, I think it has gotten much better here in that regard, but unfortunately it's likely too late for any of those women to want to give it a second look. It's definitely an area where we need to strive to be better.

1) On my computer, it logs me out every single time I leave the board even though I check the "Always stay logged in" box. Maybe related, it thinks I am visiting an unsecure site every time I log in. Not a direct quote, but "You're going to be sending data to an unsecured site...are you sure you want to do this? Proceed anyway?" Is this a my computer program that I need to fix, or a board bug?

Not going there by bookmark. Just typing in woopig.org. Anytime I close my browser and open it again, it's like I never logged in at all.
Chrome browser but it does have a banner telling me I need to update (I think I have 7 and it wants me to have 10).

i was having a similar issue where it was sending me to the landing page to log in and I ended up book marking what the url looks like when I'm logged in and that did the trick. I used to always hit "W" and it would autofill woopig.net but now that's gone forever. For the time being I'm just using my tabbed frequently visited sites on Firefox. I'm not sure what Chrome has but probably something similar.
I'm sure it's just a matter of some bugs getting worked out of the adobes.

Same thing happens to me using chrome. I've bookmarked and saved it every which away and it still sends me to the log in screen on each revisit.
There is a laundry list of things to improve, so keep posting them here. OQ is out of the country negotiating treaties and will get back on it soon.

You have to open the topic, then hit User Actions at the bottom. If you are doing this, I have no answer.
Hit "User Actions" then "Reply". Under the text box you will see "Attachments and Other Option". Click on that. The rest should be familiar.
You can also skip all that and hit "Preview". You will end up at the text box and see "Attachments and Other Options".

well this is t the old site and we are lucky to have this shit even if it comes with all sorts of glitches. Most of the folks here don't know how to post links from twitter.
I actually think the site works pretty well. The only change I would make is to add the "Unread Posts" and "Unread Topics" buttons to the bottom of the page. I have to scroll (or hit "Go up") to the top of the page to hit those buttons. Would be nice if they were at the bottom too.
The only thing that's weird on my phone is when I click "new" on a post to read the latest it tends to go scroll back to posts further up than the next newest post but that's the only issue I find when using my phone

I've also somewhat fixed this issue. You won't see the text screen anymore, but you may have problems staying logged in if you have a VPN and/or ad blockers enabled. The only way around the latter is to whitelist woopig.org on your ad blocker.

As you said, it definitely makes you (me at least) log in every time now. It won't keep the "remember me" setting. No big deal at all.
It then sends you (or me at least) to a security screen; again not a big deal:

After checking into it, I think the spoiler tag is the best way to handle it. So, if you're going to post something gross, type NSFW, then use the spoiler tag on the gross stuff, like this:

I think people should be allowed to see photographs of, and read accounts of, things that have actually happened, whether or not those things benefit or hurt either side politically. My answer would be 15-30 minutes if the posts are well-considered or at least interesting. Maybe an hour during peak sports times.
This is what we had with woopig.net, and it's what we have now with woopig.org, and we haven't really hit peak sports times yet.
I'm envious of the lurkers who get to read your thoughts without feeling obligated to contribute. But I'm also not interested in numbers unless it means more meaningful content.
Our most online number right now is 67. That will pick up when we want everyone fired during game threads.

I think at best only about 300 to 400 people participated on the reg at the end but the official membership was much higher.
my guess is once football season gets cranked up more people will find woopig or seek out a place to drop their nuggets of HTL pay board knowledge.

I know some people who were posters on the old site still visited and just lurked. Notas was one such person because I would occasionally check his profile and see when he had last logged in. Verotik was also one, and was glad when I told him about the newpig. I'm think he told Jeremy, and maybe WPFM, so they now have the option at least.

Yeah I looked into that. I think I'd have to have access to the server side (I don't) because there is no way to upload images for message icons. You can do it all day long for smilies but they are treated differently. They have to be tied to the current default theme. It was a bit confusing but I can see the directory they should go in but can't do anything about it. They have to be uploaded to the default theme/images and basically symlinked to another file for message icons. Then bob is your uncle.
