if they can do it in-house now - what's to become of the Hunt thing and what did that do anyway?

Mit Winter is a great follow for information on the ever changing NIL landscape.
Cali has a crazy new NIL law proposed, if not passed.
A patchwork of laws is going to make NIL even more confusing.
If there is going to be confusion, we might as well be leading the charge and get ahead of it for our benefit instead of sitting back and letting everyone 'cheat' while we monitor the situation and fall further behind. I have said for years we should blatantly cheat and dare the NCAA to do something about it. It has worked for other schools.
They talked about this on SEC network radio this morning. According to the hosts this law forbids the NCAA from punishing either an athlete or a school for any NIL deal that is compliant with state law.
This seems like a good move to me. Make the NCAA adapt to us instead of the other way around.
I said for years that the state should have passed a law requiring the NCAA to follow due process under the law for any investigations or punishment.
Does this mean boosters can donate to a tax deductible "charity" that passes the money on to students?
Game changer if so.

I believe so.
Quite a story here about a 19 year-old kid from Fayetteville, Arkansas named Sam Hurley.
"Of the 25 college and high school athletes with NIL valuations of $1 million or more, all except two——Hurley and LSU gymnast Olivia Dunne——play football or basketball."
"Among the 25 most highly valued athletes, only Bronny James, LeBron's son, and Dunne have more impressive social media metrics than Hurley (12.9 million followers for James, 11.4 million for Dunne, 5 million for Hurley).

Yeah, IRS won't be sitting on their hands while that goes on lol.
Yeah, IRS has already ruled no deductibility and rightfully so.
It will be a wild west for a few years before Congress steps in and does what they do best: Regulates shit.
