They were incredible in 2021. Just every single week they were killing it, and they introduced Hope as a plot line (which was a very issue for Georgia fans until they finally won it all that season), the loss claims department, the mustard stuff with Tennessee, and even us moving out of the basement, topped off by the bowl dance which was probably their best episode ever.
Last year they started out good with the hospital sketch, but it went downhill from that. Every week just felt off and not that funny.

With this, people will always bring the "you'll make the games matter less" or "you're watering down the regular season" points. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the NFL regular season still gets plenty of eyeballs. It's not like people will just stop watching their teams. There may be less on the line just because one noncon loss likely won't completely derail your postseason chances, but I would take that "watering down" if it meant a clearer path than the nebulous and completely subjective inconsistencies we have now. This idea that this uncertainty somehow makes the college game different and thereby more thrilling is just illogical.

We all had criticisms of the BCS formula, but at least it was an objective number that was difficult to impossible for the TV rights holders and the conference commissioners to manipulate. If we still had some sort of formula instead of a committee full of stakeholders and their inherent biases then there would still be bitching, but it would have less merit. Whether intentional or otherwise, those choosing the teams consider tradition, conference affiliation, and TV viewership. None of those should be valid criteria for picking the four best or most deserving teams.

Re: Texas, there was an old precedent that could've been used to leave them out. There were times in the past where a "big win" early in the season was discounted because it was so early in the season.

But it's not a real playoff. It's a made for TV event, a reality show based on college football. ESPN paid for it and wants the four teams they believe will deliver the most eyeballs for these three games. They do have to sell the teams in as part of the "story", so there is no way in hell they would exclude the SEC unless the best teams both had 2 losses. No way they exclude Michigan despite the cheating thing. They had no plausible way to exclude Washington though they like to; they have zero audience. Texas rings the bell. And there you go. Sorry your number didn't pull up FSU, it's show business.
The future eventually will set for the SEC/big superconference. Divisions that play thru a structured playoff like the nfl. Where shitty division winners get in ahead of teams with better records but that's the structure.

I realize our upset was definitely in second place on the day, but we barely got a mention.
I thought we got a deserved amount of attention.
Recreating the Predator handshake was a nice touch. And our photo on the wall of escaped basement dwellers was appropriate as well. Plus the most attractive female in the entire clip was wearing a Hog jersey the whole time.
I mean, we SHOULD beat Tennessee at night game at home. It's nice and I expected them to beat the crap out of us, but my expectations for Arkansas are that no one is ever hugely surprised when we beat a good team a home. That's the way it should be.
Our game was a much bigger deal to us than it was to the rest of the country.
Vandy knocked out a Bama team that just beat Georgia. Vandy. On the magnitude of awesomeness we don't really come close to that.

It's amazing what these guys come up with each week in basically 36 hours to write, shoot, and produce each episode. This was awesome. Great tie-ins to so many previous themes with hospital, board room, goalposts, casket, cellar dwellers, Regina, etc. massive production deserving of the magnitude of toppling the Bama dynasty by Vandy. I wanted to go to Vanderbilt for school and I can't remember why I went to Rhodes instead.

I thought the whole ending with them cheering MSU's win was weak. They could have done something funny or clever.
With that said, SEC Shorts is fantastic. Football ends on Saturday night and they have Sunday to put these together, which is amazing considering the time constraints.

Hell the frickin bootleg I watched of the game had a better picture than what I usually get from YTTV :stache:
But they joked that pirating it comes with ads and so forth...I did but I could have watched it on my browser and it would have filtered a lot of that out.
I took it as celebrating the REAL SEC team getting the win.

So hoping we can pull it off...that would also be so Arkansas for a coach to beat Texas and immediately get that 11 year contract.

We want to take a moment to celebrate our very own Chelsi Davis. Two months ago, she was notified that she was a bone marrow match for a patient in the United States fighting Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Chelsi has been on the NMDP (formerly Be The Match) registry since 2017, when she signed up in memory of her grandmother, who passed away from leukemia in her 40s. Her grandmother wasn't able to find a matching donor, so when Chelsi learned she could help someone else, she didn't hesitate for a second.
Last week, she flew to Houston, where she donated stem cells from her blood over the course of two straight days. Those stem cells were immediately shipped to the patient's hospital, where they're now providing life-giving support in that patient's fight against cancer.
Chelsi didn't do any of this for praise or attention. In fact, the only reason she's allowing us to share her story is the hope that it might encourage someone else to join the registry.
