Title: Arthur Hawgarelli
Post by: FNG on Sep 29, 2023, 05:40 AM
Three years ago today we lost one of my favorite Woopig posters, someone who always seemed to be posting with a smile.

RIP Jody.

They killed a good one. Losing Jody was a sad day for sure.

One of the most likable woopiggers.

RIP Jody.

I thought it was Author also but decided I imagined it since it's spelled Arthur down on the P&R board.

He was always Author. Way, way back we had a back-and-forth making fun of each other's names.

Seems like it was a play on how Randy Rainwater said Arthur.

I really miss Author.  He didn't deserve a horrible too young death and I pray his family is doing ok in life.

He really defined for me how a Christian man should carry himself in this world.  I generally fail at this as much as I aspire to live in one's faith like Author did.

About nine years ago my life was a complete shitshow.  My stellar career had collapsed as the electronics industry and retail cratered.  At 55 I found out all about ageism and was just finding gig work and short term contracting gigs.  Author had posted a profound statement over in the religion thread and I reached out to him.  We had several conversations and he really gave me great counsel.  He went out of his way to help someone he'd never met when he could have given me the same lame general platitudes my minister gave me.

Author you are missed, and I appreciate what you brought to your community and world; you brought a lot a left a big hole when you left.  I'd love to see his commentaries in the old religion thread as he calmly said takes his positions in the face of blistering attacks from assholes like muzzy.

If anyone has any Arthur stories or have writings from him, it's much appreciated if they're shared.

Shame much of it appears gone with the death of the .net woopig.

I had some pm's from him on the old site and wish I could access them.  He gave a much younger, more stubborn me a head full of council when I didn't think I needed it and damn sure didn't deserve it.

The three things I remember most about Jody were his (often touching) anecdotes about his students, his self-deprecating humor and his gentle strength in defending his faith down in the old Woopig P&R board.

The P&R was not an easy place to be for anyone who professed to be a believer but Jody always seemed to handle any scorn or derision with a resolute but kind response.

That part right there...that's a measure of true character and how I knew he was a far better man than me.

That's the kind of man I'd want to be.
