We had Christmas dinner around noon today so family can escape to their homes 3hrs away. I'm glad the all left because I had to take a mad shit and didn't want to blow up the house with everybody here. Don't know about that charcuterie thingy someone brought...

My family and I were at a luau on Kona Tuesday and my oldest and I had the poke. Tasted amazing. 12 hours later, Kamehameha was having his revenge as my son and I were becoming intimately acquainted with the toilets in our timeshare. Just had my first non-explosive bowel movement last night.

I had some poke in Seattle one night at 1:00 in the morning, a few hours before I got on a plane. I was quite uncomfortable by the time we landed in OKC.

I've traded putting stuff together for kids with building shelves and storage in my shop. I'm leaving no doubt that it's all homemade.

Going to one of our daughter's houses tomorrow for Christmas lunch/dinner and seeing what the grands got. Then, we are having our Christmas on January 6th because we have so many firemen and nurses in the family and that is when we can all get together.

Since I missed Thanksgiving, I'm quite excited about the feast today.

Crusted Tenderloin, ham, Scallops,  scalloped potatoes, green beans, coleslaw, Brazilian cheese puffs, mac n cheese and some type of cake.  Not sure if there is anything else in there.

I told my kids not to wake my wife and I up before 6:30. I put an analog clock in their room before bed so they'd know when 6:30 hits. My oldest (9) wakes me up at 5:37, holds the clock up and says "look, it's 6:30. Get up." He took the back off and set it ahead an hour. I did not reward immediately him for his ingenuity, but I compromised on 6.

Nice. I remember as a kid we'd be up, gifts unwrapped, eaten breakfast by 630.

I remember my sister and I woke my parents up at 4:30 one Christmas and my dad just about strangled me. Never tried it again.

I think last year my kids woke us up around 4:45 or 5. They were losing their shit by the end of the day.

A few Christmas quotes because why not:

"Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful."
 —-Norman Vincent Peale

"Christmas, children, is not a date. It is a state of mind."
 —-Mary Ellen Chase

"I heard the bells on Christmas Day
 Their old, familiar carols play,
 And wild and sweet
 The words repeat
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!"
 —-Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

"Christmas is doing a little something extra for someone."
 —-Charles Schulz

Merry Christmas Woopig.

Some good memories on this day as a kid. Castle Grayskull. Atari. GI Joe 14F.

Never forget getting one of those gas powered Cox airplanes you controlled with a line one year. Dad was cussing that thing trying to get it started. After almost losing a finger, we finally got it going and then proceeded to fly it into the ground on the first run - destroying it into a million pieces. We laughed about it.

RIP Pops.

Wait, ole Henry wasn't through. I did not do him justice. Can't have that:

And in despair I bowed my head
"There is no peace on earth," I said;
"For hate is strong,
And mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!"

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
"God is not dead, nor doth he sleep!
The Wrong shall fail,
the Right prevail,
With peace on earth, good-will to men!
 —-Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I took my first crack at a prime rib.  I was nervous and I couldn't decide between doing it in the oven or on the Kamado Joe.  I ended up going wit the Joe because it was too nice out not to.  Wife kept the Christmas libations going and somehow it still turned out great.  She made mashed potatoes, green beans, and a pie and also bought all kinds of cookies and shit.  Way, way too much food for 2 people.  I made sure all 3 of the dogs got a few generous bites of prime rib.

A little cooking down here. The plating could be better for magazine quality, but this gets the point across.

Herb crusted rack of lamb with mixed berry shallot wine sauce
Twice baked potatoes
Roasted asparagus
2016 Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon

My wife really listens to me.

I'm about to fuck some coyotes up.

Last trip I was using a Bluetooth speaker and some "99 animal sounds" shit I downloaded on my phone.  Sounded great.  Had about 8-10 coyotes yelping and cackling and coming in.  I may have been drunk.  Hit the wrong sound, and I don't know if it was proximity to marrianna or what, but they acted like a wild screaming monkey sound was terrifying, and they left quick like.IMG_4747.jpeg

Didn't get anything, but did start looking at PSA to see if anything I would like.  The PSA Rock 5.7 is interesting and will probably get another Dagger pistol or two as house guns since they are inexpensive and really shoot well.  Like, quite well for the price.

Wife ran out of storage on her iphone while filming the boy opening presents so we will be heading to the store to get an IPhone 15pro 1Gig tomorrow for her present.  Oh well.

Thx, I thought it was a good step up from my Audio Techniqa LP120. Got it set up last night and spun a few records. The sound didn't disappoint.

You definitely scored with the PS5 and Audeze. That's a nice combo. How do those Audeze sound?

Nice!  I have the previous Debut Carbon.  The "non-EVO", if you will, and it's fantastic.  I can only imagine the EVO will be even better.  That push button speed change will be nice.  I have to remove the platter and manually change the speed on mine.  It's probably my only complaint, honestly.

My gift this year was a week long trip to NYC.  I told my wife she better not get me a damn thing because that set us back about $6k, but she got me a coffee table book of famous guitars and a Frank Reynolds "I'm gonna get real weird with it" t-shirt anyway.

The Sumiko cartridge alone was worth the upgrade. I got the walnut finish which looks awesome. Ordered a leather platter mat last night. I've got it in my office which is small and paired it with a set of Klipsch The Fives and an SVS Pro 1000 sub.

They have a pretty detailed and linear sound. I can see why they are popular choice for audio mixing. They have really good bass impact for planars. They are built like a tank but weigh quite a bit more than my other headphones.
