Thought I would go ahead and post this because I have a cancer checkup tomorrow where they put me to sleep and do a biopsy. Your Arkansas Razorbacks open SEC play this Friday with a 3 game series with the Methouri Tigers. All games will be on the SECN+ network. Friday at 6:30, Saturday at 2:0", and Sunday at 2:00. From the looks of things, Methouri has some pretty good hitters, but they haven't faced our pitching yet. So, as usual, GO HOGS!

Back from my biopsy. Groggy as hell, but wanted to bump this back up before it scrolls off. At least a young pretty nurse helped me out my underwear back on. That was the only plus....and the drugs.

Eh, we made them suffer longer.
Looking around the conference, there were only 2 other sweeps with Vandy sweeping Auburn and Kentucky sweeping Georgia.
In terms of the West:
- Bama took the series against Tennessee
- Ole Miss won their series against USCe
- A&M dropped their series to Florida
- State won their series against LSU, including run ruling them in game 3.

Good.
The SEC is a meat grinder in baseball, especially with the addition of Texas, so I'll take a gimme series every year.

It is, but baseball isn't like football where losing a game can hurt your postseason chances.
It's the only major sport where we're arguably elite. I want to see us play the best teams. Not waste a weekend playing fucking Mizzou.
Besides, just playing them hurts us as much as losing to a good team. So where's the benefit in playing them?

How bad is Missouri baseball? Well, the Hogs swept the Tigers in dominant fashion and dropped from No. 1 to No. 2 in the RPI, falling behind a Clemson team that went 2-1 at Duke.
Arkansas' overall SOS fell from No. 13 to No. 20 after the three games, too.

We play 40ish games over the course of a season.
A three game series against a team like Missouri doesn't affect the outcome of where we finish. At least not significantly.
I suppose you think we should stop playing midweek no names and instead play a schedule full of top 25 teams.
Basically, win all the games we should, most of the ones that are toss ups, and a few of the ones we shouldn't then everything will work out in our favor.

I think I've seen this exact argument from teams around the league playing Arkansas in football. :-\
and they'll call us "Arky".

There are so many holes in your logic it would take all afternoon.
I'll just leave it with... to me, the point of following sports is to be entertained, and playing Mizzou every year instead of a team like LSU or Tennessee is not nearly as entertaining to me. I don't see them on the schedule and say "I can't wait to watch that series"

It's probably why we are off Bama's fb schedule. They are tired of beating us and watching their SOS fall.

The point of the season is to win as many games as possible, host regionals and super regionals, thus making it easier to get to Omaha and hopefully win it all. Playing ten difficult SEC teams in consecutive weekends with no relative breathers makes that process harder.
Also, a series against Missouri gives our players a chance to pad stats. Better stats for them means more individual awards and possibly better draft status, which in turn helps recruiting.
I wouldn't want to play a schedule full of Missouris. Currently we are scheduled to play seven of ten SEC series against ranked teams or teams that just dropped out this week (South Carolina). Ole Miss and Kentucky are playing well and could easily be ranked when we face them. We're already playing nine tough weekends...one breather isn't going to hurt us.

I can understand that argument better. It's just not the way I see it.
We're gonna play between 50-55 games this regular season. Between half and 2/3rds of those games will be to unranked teams. We have plenty of breathers built in. Not playing a team that wears softball uniforms every year isn't going to wear our boys out.
I enjoy watching us play against the best teams in baseball, because it's the only spectator sport where we're dominant every year.
If we weren't as good as we are, I would probably take your position and want to protect our record a little more in hopes of a better postseason position. But I don't think we need that protection.

Fill the schedule up with LSUs!!!! No way that has the potential to hurt us more than a 3 game series against Missouri. LOL.
I had 50ish but didn't care to look it up so changed it to 40ish.

I went back and reread your post. The black lettered bolded part confuses me. The red lettered bolded part confuses slightly less but doesn't make sense when you say that you didn't say you want us to fill the schedule with all LSUs (You know, the best teams concept).
What exactly is your point?

My original point was that I don't like having Mizzou has our permanent opponent. It's boring and it doesn't benefit us even if we win.

 I truly don't disagree with that entirely. They are, however, a necessary evil. There are just too many good teams in the SEC. The break, as boring as it is, is needed. I would make a slight argument that beating them does benefit us in that we get to rest some guys and not have to expend so much energy. I can't imagine how difficult it would be to have to get up for an LSU or Vandy or Tennessee every single game. You lose a game or two and all the sudden you're in a free fall. I think that has to be taken into account.
It is a conference game/series vs mizzou, it is not like we have a choice so I am not sure why there is any debate since it comes from the SEC.
However playing in UCA, ASU, and UAPB we do have a choice and those 3 are on par with Missouri. Nothing wrong with an easy series as the SEC is a meat grinder.

When I said beating them doesn't benefit us, I was referring to the tweet that showed us dropping in RPI even though we beat Mizzou 23-1.
But, we all want the same thing. The Hogs hosting Regionals, Supers and finally winning it all in Omaha. We're just splitting hairs a little on the journey to get there.
At the end of the day, I freakin hate Mizzou and it pisses me off that we can beat their ass and still get punished because of how bad they suck.
 to the discussion. Now let's go fuck up Auburn!

There is debate because we don't win another baseball game until Thursday and we are tired of talking about losing sports like basketball and football.

I really hope I'm not starting this up all over again, but I'll try to clarify. I'm not blaming us for scheduling them. I simply wish the SEC had given us someone else as our permanent opponent moving forward because everything about Mizzou is garbage and even when we beat them we get punished. It seems that most people disagree with me. I'll leave it at that.

I don't disagree with you. I'd rather get the Horns as a permanent opponent going forward even though it would mean more losses. The SEC is obviously a meat grinder but being forced to play a program on par with Grambling 3 times every year does us no good.
