Title: Hogs vs UAPB——Baseball
Post by: Son of Spam on Apr 22, 2024, 09:48 AM
Your Arkansas Razorbacks take on the UAPB Golden Showers (Lions?) in Little Rock tomorrow at 6:00PM. The game will be on SECN+. Let's see if we can run rule these guys and get ready for Florida. As usual, GO HOGS!

And, your Bob Uecker quote for the game:

People don't know this, but I helped the Cardinals win the pennant. I came down with hepatitis. The trainer injected me with it!

Isn't that unusual for the LR game to be televised?

Didn't Dickey-Stephens have some issues with not being equipped for ESPN+/SECN+ telecasts the last few years?

In the case of their baseball team, UPAB means "You are probably bad."

Yes. However, that is what is showing on the schedule. So I guess it may or may not be seen there. We will have to see tomorrow. I will check then and see if it is showing on the app.

Perhaps ESPN saw the high school-level production value and announcing team of the South Carolina broadcast and thought LR couldn't be any worse.

LOL! I don't think anything could be as bad as the SC broadcasting team.

I thought that was the Alltel/Verizon/Simmons/WhateverNameItIs Arena with the subpar television connections.

I'm pretty sure DVH mentioned that it would be streamed a while back.

The arena has/had those issues, but there were games in DSP in years prior that couldn't be streamed.

Just so long as the announcers from this past weekend aren't working it, I'm good.

I'd rather listen to Gilbert Gottfried and Bobcat Goldthwait read the phone book than listen to those two chuckelheads call a baseball game ever again.

Next up flies out to left center. Runner holds. 1 away.

Next up swings and misses. Runner thrown out by Helfrick trying to take second. 2 away. Hitter goes down swinging.

Diggs was lauded for having a great plate approach his first two years, but his approach this year has been terrible.

He's always been patient at the plate, but it's almost like the book is out that he's not going to swing early in the count, so pitchers who can even remotely locate can groove 2 fastballs right down Broadway to get him 0-2 and then he'll chase high or in the dirt.

It's one of the key reasons he has a nearly 3:1 strikeout to walk ratio in SEC play this year.

It was both, and as stated on here at the time, it was a lie being used to cover for the fact that the university didn't want to spend a relatively small amount on production costs.  Both venues have had other events streamed for years, yet for some reason they can't do U of A games.

We hit the ball a lot better than the stats indicated in this game.  There was a pretty strong wind blowing in off the river (as is usually the case at DSP).  The park plays big even by MiLB standards.  We hit probably 4-5 balls that would have been out of Baum on normal day, including the SAC fly from Stovall to walk it off.

Speaking of the last SAC fly, it shocked me that UAPB didn't bring their infield and outfield in with the winning run at third and fewer than two outs.  I guess they were just ready to get the hell out of there.  It did cost Stovall a hit though, although the SAC fly doesn't hurt his batting average.
