Your Arkansas Razorbacks take on the Missouri State Bears in a 2 game mid week series starting tomorrow night at 6:30. Second game will be Wednesday at 4:00. Both games will be on SECN+. This is a team that usually gives us trouble. Our home winning streak ended last weekend. Let's hope we don't start a losing streak now. As we all know, our pitching and defense is great but our bats (and if I could think of a stronger word) suck. Anyway, let's get back on a winning streak. As usual, GO HOGS!
And, your Bob Uecker quote for the games:
When I played baseball I got death threats all the time--from my mother.

Was literally my first thought when I saw we were playing Mo. State as our midweek this week. This series is always a tough one and we always get their best.
We lost to them last year there, lost in 2022, and were rained out in 2021. We actually haven't beaten these guys since 2019.

They do play us well normally, but this year they pretty well suck ass.

Which means we likely get run ruled.

Maybe, but we've done a lot more run ruling that getting run ruled against those types of teams this year.

We are 1 of 2 of Auburn's SEC wins this year. Anything can happen. Especially against our hitting. (Or lack thereof)
Midweek scoring this year.
21 vs. Grambling (7 innings)
9 vs. UCA
4 vs. ORU
11 vs. UALR (7 innings)
13 vs ASU (7 innings)
5 vs. SJSU
8 vs. SJSU
9 vs TTech
5 vs. TTech
11 vs. UAPB (7)
Averaging 9.6 runs, with four of the games being 7 innings, against midweek opposition.
We'll be fine.
Saw something online about Gage Wood being tonight's starter.
If it's legit, I think it's a good move to try to get him back on track.
Agree. But I think this signals we have no plans to use him on the weekends unless desperate.
Quote from: BleedinRed on Apr 30, 2024, 09:05 AMAgree. But I think this signals we have no plans to use him on the weekends unless desperate.
Probably depends on how many innings he pitches. Dave wouldn't be afraid to throw him 2-3 tonight and then 1-2 innings on Saturday or Sunday if needed.
Wood's stuff looked pretty good on Saturday. His velocity was higher than it's been...but like before he doesn't really have an "out" pitch that finishes hitters off. Without the stupid decision to throw to third on the bunt he probably still gets out of that inning unscathed in spite of the traffic.
@DirkPiggler ...can you take PBP tonight?

FWIW, DVH has been extremely complimentary of Rowland as of late. Said he's been hitting the ball really well in practice, hence why he's started to see more weekend action.
I can legitimately envision a scenario where we play 3 different catchers in a weekend series down the stretch.
