I've thought this since Pittman assembled the fattest coaching staff in college football - how are players going to take conditioning seriously. Also, I am a native Texan. Family's been here since before the Alamo. My dad chose to embrace JFB and the Hogs when we moved to Ft Smith in 61. So I grew up a hog fan but was raised as a misplaced Texan.

he had a qb that was having a terrible day throw it 26 times (28 if you count the sacks) while the starting rb average 10.2 yards on only 14 carries. the team averaged 7 yards a carry. they also beat us in time of possession.

I didn't see most of the game because I choose to go out with family to a BBQ joint down in Magnolia...real good food. Our fans get butthurt if the dunks are exciting enough and we aren't blowing out somebody. There is so much negative waves on the football team, crowd seemed about as flat as the team at the start of the game. Not every play is gonna be a huge ripper. Things don't always go the way you want them to go and sometimes a team just comes out and thinks they are going to smoke some bitches and ends up getting in a fight.

On the first point he isn't wrong. We should have been. The follow up is "Gee, coach, then why aren't we...?" Which leads to your second point. This seems to be a real trend with Pittman, overlooking and not preparing for opponents.

Dilfer scouted us very well. Many times I saw UAB defense shift as soon as Green hand signaled an audible at the LOS. It seemed like they knew what was coming in the first half.

To be fair, over the last decade the NWW fans have consistently shown they don't show up for cupcakes. Which isnt a knock. I just don't want to hear how much more supportive they are than central Arkansas fans.

The good
Our kicker was 3/3 and a long of 51 so that's neat.
We ran the ball and they still couldn't stop it even though our passing game went full retard.
The bad
We had one sack against an inferior opponent.
Our defense looked slow and completely misaligned.
Green was like a roulette throwing never knew where it was going to end up...total meltdown as a passer. When I was watching he seemed to think Broden was Michael Qualls.

I was there and the sitting on the East side of the stadium and the West side was full. North End Zone seats are sold out, but most of those people sit inside because those seats roast in the sun the whole game for 3:00 kick offs. South EZ was full. Upper Deck on West side, full.
East side upper deck that was mostly empty was the student section. There were easily 70,000+ there, probably not the 75,000+ that was reported though.

As someone said earlier, I somehow feel worse about this win than I did about the OSU loss.
I know it's a loser's rationale, but there were some good things to take away. Having the #16 team on the ropes at home, coming out strong, defense playing well despite the offense and ST putting them in bad situations, and driving down to tie the game at the end of regulation.
This game was...different. I thought Petrino's playcalling, especially in the red zone, was a bit suspect. Granted, Green was horrid, but it felt like we should have kept the ball on the ground when it was obvious Green was washed for the day as a viable passing threat and was only locking onto Armstrong. Also, our defense was the drizzle shits most of the day, between UAB driving on us all first half and us committing stupid ass penalties, we continue to look completely undisciplined. I like Sorey, but he had a potential game-altering unnecessary roughness penalty last week, and then brained a player this week with a facemask on a negative yardage play where we the player dead to rights.
Bad news: We tried to half-ass an inferior opponent and that inferior opponent handed us our whole ass for 3 quarters.
Good news: We still half-assed out a win.
Better news: We didn't wake up as Mississippi State fans this morning.

I've been wondering this as well. We have hardly used Washington or Hasz in the passing game this year, which is uncharacteristic for a Petrino offense. We've even run quite a bit of 12 personnel, but they just aren't being targeted.
In looking at the stats, they have 6 total receptions between them.
I will say this, and this might definitely be some 20/20 hindsight wishful thinking I admit, Petrino has a habit of using these sorts of early season to games to work on things regardless of the results on the field during that game. I remember a game against Monroe in Little Rock where we rushed into a brick wall of a nine man front all night to work on the run. Mallett could pick them apart at will but we were going to get something done in the running game come hell or high water. It was ugly, but it paid dividends later.
There could be a little of that yesterday. They had no answer for the run but starting next week, Green will have to execute in the passing game for us to have a chance.
I'm a lot more concerned about the defense. I really can't think of an excuse for it.
Sounds like I dodged a bullet. Had our 2 daughters, their husbands, and all the grandkids out yesterday. Didn't get to see but maybe a snippet of the game. Glad I missed it. I would actually rather go watch my 9 YO grandson play than watch most college games now. Just not that in to it any more. Guess I have finally gotten my priorities in line. And my blood pressure....

Non-Game-Goers always show their hand when they point out the End Zone club areas being "empty". If it is hot or cold, those people have indoor areas they hang out in to get out of the elements.
Watching Pittman's press conference and other take-aways...
1. Multiple players on defense wore green jerseys in practice last week (non contact) and it slowed the defense down, not physical and we came out not playing physical.
2. DC's wife had a baby wasn't around as much last week. But we're not making excuses ::)
3. QB was utter trash (ok he didn't say that), thinks maybe he was pressing being his first time playing in RRS.
4. Kicker hit the ball better and generally in the right direction.
5. Our center has a boo boo on his high ankle and this might fuck us the entire season
6. Biddy thinks Clark is out for a while...dude is the brains on the defense.
7. Defense doesn't pressure anybody
8. We don't throw to the TE
9. Russell "has a package"
10. We got exposed bigly by OK lite and UAB...linebackers aren't good covering the flats and over the middle.
So we're less than two weeks away from Pittman trying to take some control of the offense.

Veltkamp wasn't good. All those skill guys were fast before they got here. Wingo and Hamilton were track guys. We were horrendously slow on D.

Most coaches limit access to the locker room these days. Supposedly this is not a new policy. Schools want to have exclusive content to release, coaches want to be straight talking to players vs the coachspeak for the PC, etc. I think these two got butthurt over nothing. Why do a post? Call the fucking AD. They said they could freely roam at other times and practices. Just more attention whiting. Bobby wanted us back there. Fuck off he ain't the head coach or the marketing dept.
