I'm still in the 10-2 camp but concede that the two games we gave away makes it unlikely.  Worst case is 8-4 but think 9-3 is very doable.

10/19 LSU W
10/26 at MSU W
11/2 OM L
11/16 Texas L
11/23 La Tech W
11/30 at Mizzou W

We can absolutely beat Ole Miss. Just afraid that Kiffin will get them up for that game. He hasn't won in Fayetteville since he was the Bama OC.

I don't see anyway we beat Texas either, but I also felt the same way about Tennessee.

10-2 wouldn't be incredulous, but I'm also worried that at some point we will have one of those 'WTF' games.

I actually think our WTF game will be our next one after the bye week. We seem to always come out flat after a bye. Hopefully BMFP won't let that happen.

I'm still a big believer Texas is a Missouri who hasn't played anyone good yet. (No, Michigan is not really good).

They have played Colorado State, UTSA, LA-Monroe and Miss State.

They play Oklahoma, George, Vandy, Florida and Arkansas over the next 5.  They will lose 2, if not 3, of those games.

We seem to have adequate personnel at every spot. We've been able to move the ball and get first downs, and get some stops to get the D off the field. That should make us competitive with everybody. That means we are due to get our doors blown off by 4 touchdowns.

Before the season, 7-5 was my hope so anything above that I'm happy and can't complain.

6-6 or worse, would be a big disappointment but I don't see it happening.

Basically wins are Tech and MState, then knock off one or two of Texas, Mizzou, LSU, Ole Miss.

I hope selfishly Mizzou is one of them. Those fuckers are due.

This season is like an ultimate we hate all of them schedule.

I really would like to beat A&M and Missouri.  They shouldn't have the recent success against us that they do.  I hate it.

Obviously hate Texas.

Then there's Tennessee, Ole Miss, and LSU.  Those games are always good games, and I hate all those frickers.

Okie Lite.  Easy to hate.

That leaves Auburn, State, and the rent a wins.  Not really much built in hate there anymore.

I say 9-3. JFB help me.

We were all predicting 2-10 after the A&M loss.  Now, more 8 & 9 win predictions coming in.

I love it...

It is better team this year. Better QB, OC and line. I thought the defense was good last year, they just got wore out because the offense was so bad.

They are still able to stupid themselves to a loss at any time.

7-5

6-6.  This teams inner Sam will re-emerge.  I expect a couple of usual q4 collapses from leads to crush your spirits and cut your hearts out.

Some of you would give Sam another five years over that win over the Vols.

Which coach in the SEC would you rather have at this point?

Honest question.

Lane who just lost at home to Kentucky? Drink? Heupel who we just beat? Stoops who shat the bed against Georgia at home? Napier? Beamer? The previous drunk degenerate at Texas? LSU's fist pounder?

It's a week to week meltdown of who needs to be fired, retired, or crowned.

I'm not a Pitt hugger but damn. He's not the sexy coach, but for promoting a career o line coach, he's mostly been respectable. He may shit the bed the rest of the year, or he may win 10 games.

Just crazy how 1-2 games can affect the fan sentiment of a coach.

At this point I would take Lane. Kentucky is not a bad team who beat Ole Piss.

I have been hating on Pittman since the end of 2022. People love him not for a coach, but for an aw shucks kind of guy. Someone they can have a colbeer with. Fuck that.

He has made horrible in-game decisions that have cost us a lot of games, and the players look sloppy at times.

I don't think his recruiting has gotten better, but at least he struck gold with TWilliams. I don't believe he went looking for Petrino, but told to hire him.

It is year five and still struggling with rebuilding.

He is Great Value Nutt and I don't care what our record is at the end of the year, he still needs to go. Promote TWilliams and retain the rest of the staff.

Left on the tarmac Lane. Cool. I mean. Whatever floats your boat.

I don't hate Lane but I think it's a fine line between love and hate. Fire or extend to coach for life.

This is all true. It's the inconsistency that people hate about Pittman and most of the other coaches you list may have their issues as well but typically don't have the drop off that Pittman has shown. Arguably if Pittman were at a program where talent is better/easier to acquire he'd be as good or better than those names.

Gun to head I'd still choose Sark or Kiffin over Pittman. Mark Stoops is one of those same cats like Pittman only he's had a better track record at a traditionally awful football school. Stoops is good for some good wins each season mixed in with a couple bad losses and will likely hover in that 7 to 9 win zone for much of his career. We would damn sure take it at Arkansas.

The other factor here is it's the SEC and the margin between winners and losers is very tight. How else can you account for Alabama shitting the bed against Vandy?

This Vandy/Ky game will be very interesting. Vandy players and coaches have had their dicks sucked on for a solid week. I won't be shocked if they come out with deflated balls.

What does traditionally awful mean?

Does Arkansas not get lumped into that category because of the 70s and 80s?

Since 1991 we have been traditionally awful, save for 1998 and 2011.   There have been a handful of years in between that were good.

But over the last 34 years our program hasn't really been better than Kentucky.

I wouldn't say we've been traditionally awful. I'd say we've been wildly inconsistent, with a couple years where we look great, a couple where we look awful, and everything just middling.

We're a traditionally 5-7 win team.

But, I'd say the same is true of Kentucky, too. Only difference is we've been to multiple BCS/premiere bowls and conference title games.  UK can't say that

Huh?  What change in sentiment for a coach.? Without the buyout and no budget Yuri would have fired his ass last season.  He's a terrible coach.  Stand alone situation.  It has nothing to do with another coach in a different situation. There are a ton of coaches out there that would do better, including our coordinators who pay little attention to him.  I suspect each has a GA talking in Sam's headset that chat thru a game like reading a Winnie the Pooh story and talking about col beer.

Current performance and future progress is all that matters.  Coaches really benefitted from paying penance with Saban.

So for your exercise I'd trade for Sark in a heartbeat.  Same for Lane. Clark Lea. Smart.
DaBoer.  Heupel.  Stoops. Elko.  Even Drink.  Maybe Venables.  No on freeze, Beamer, napier, lsu lawn jockey. Whoever is at klan aggy.

We know you can't stand Pittman. Wouldn't matter what he did the rest of the way, you're going to die on that hill. It's cool, whatever. I'm going to pull for the guy and the Hogs to win and to turn it around as long as he's the coach. I'd much rather him go out on a good to really good for Arkansas record.

I think it's very reasonable to think we end up 6-6, or even collapsing and missing a bowl entirely.

That said, there was a time where Dabo Sweeny was on the hotseat at Clemson, then he hired a couple of hot coordinators to turn things around, and suddenly they went on a tear and won multiple national titles.

Once upon a time Clemson was the Arkansas of the SEC.

Let's face it, he's basically Mike Anderson. Took over after several shitty hires following a great coach.

If we can parlay his mediocrity like we did in basketball and hire a solid young and hungry coach, we'd be far better off than him just shitting the bed completely and the wheels falling off like some want.

Pretty poor comparison because Frank Broyles and Lou Holtz are much further in the past than Eddie Sutton and Nolan Richardson. Plus the only SEC basketball program OBVIOUSLY better than Arkansas is Kentucky. Most SEC football programs fit that description,. especially since we've added two more that do.

I don't see any path to relevance for the football team, like the basketball team had with Musselman then Calipari.

I was referring more to Petrino.  Pittman was basically the 3rd hire after him, much like Mike was after Nolan. Granted, petrinos tenure was much shorter than Nolan's and didn't have the cherry on top, but it's more recent success indicative of what I believe we can accomplish if we make the right hire after Pittman. It certainly appears there's more parity in the sec with NIL with many of of the traditional power teams playing g close games with traditional doormats. Even vaderfuckingbilt is fielding a decent team.
