My dad, who is one of those retired guys who knows every player on the basketball team even in transfer years and all the recruits, etc, says three of our main guys and two or three of Kansas's main guys, including Hunter Dickinson, are sitting it out tonight. So he thought it was more like a scrub scrimmage.

Anyone else know anything?

To say something crazy after one half of an exhibition game.

We may have the best set of defensive guards putting pressure on the ball, since Walker and Robertson.

To me is, so far, I haven't gotten nervous about any player combination that would ultimately mean dry spells like last year. We are deep with athletic players that can actually create their own space and shot....it feels different.

I like Z a lot.

He made that spin dunk in the post.  That's what I want to see.  He's going to be a problem.

Boogie Fland is NBA All Star trajectory.  Wagner can flat get to the hoop and finish.  Strong.

Not impressed with Davis so far.  Having a rough night.

This team plays great together and I'm impressed with the defense.

Cal is such a legend I can't believe he's coaching us.

That was fun for a meaningless game. I had no idea what to expect, and listening to Cal made it seem like it might be a repeat of the Texas exhibition a couple years ago. I know they were missing a couple of starters, but we had ~15 point lead most of the 2nd half.

The FAU player had a rough game. The steal of the transfer portal looks like he might be coming off the bench.

Davis had a rough night but there may not be a better 3 guard combo than Davis, Fland, and Wagner. Really need all 3 to stay healthy.

What I came away most impressed with is this team is physically tough. When KU hit a couple shots in a row, we amped up the pressure on D and got a couple TOs.

This team is gonna be fun to watch.

Would we have beaten Kansas with Hunter Dickinson (I always want to say Hunter Mikkelson, lol) and their other main dude? Who knows. But Aidoo would have helped us too.

We have a three guard combo that is salty af. They can hound the ball and turn you over repeatedly, they did it in the "crucial" possessions when Kansas was trying to make a little comeback in the fourth quarter. As crucial as an exhibition game can be.

We'll be right there in the mix for everything if we stay healthy and Cal keeps the guys together and not with their eyes on the next level.

This was a scrimmage so we have to remind ourselves of that before sucking each others peckers. In the late going KU started guarding with a lot more on ball pressure and our guards struggled a bit more with that but still didn't look lost as fuck...they adjusted and ended up getting some late scores. Muss guards of late looked lost in that situation.

Just going by the eye test I'd say this looked like a pretty dang good group. Fland looks like a Derrick Rose type talent but probably not as athletic. Fland looks like what a One & Done is supposed to look like at least at first look for me.

Boogie Fland got some quicks. I'd rate his speed level at sudden, the way he made some of those cuts. We definitely have some talent and they look pretty organized already.

Post game speech on Hogs+, Cal sounded like he knows he has a really good team while also issuing the warning you better play his way or you will not be playing

I'm getting the impression Cal is taking a harder line with these guys because they are paid athletes and should be treated as such. We don't have guys that love that helmet on this team. These guys are here because they got paid and want to win under Cal. That's it and not to say these guys won't fall in love with the place. We hope they do.

I didn't catch the question that was asked of him but he went on some ramble about full court pressure teams don't win championships. Mentioned UNLV as a lone exception. That was the 1990 Final Four that had Arkansas as a full court team along with UNLV. Was Michigan the other team? Ok it was Georgia Tech. Duke played UNLV for the champ. I think the point he was attempting to make is his way is a more tried and true method but acknowledged that styles come and go. I did notice Bob seemed to be pushed back in the rotation in the presser. I think maybe there were some national guys asking the initial questions.

Oh I don't consider the 94 team a pressure team...don't think Nolan would either. The 97 Kentucky team? Maybe.

I get a feeling that Cal will not like Arkansas media. He cuts off their questions constantly and always repeats himself. Or maybe he just doesn't like doing media stuff and it's not specific to Arkansas media. I could see that.

After the shitshow of the football team and the collapse last year of the baseball team, let me enjoy last night and dream of winning the SEC, at least for a week or 2

He said he took a covid test before SEC media days hoping it would be positive so he wouldn't have to go. I think he's probably just tired of dealing with media in general.

He'll murder someone about the third time he hears "John, some say the point difference plays a huge role in losing tonight's game. What do you think about that?"

arkansas media are pros at repeating the same questions over and over.

after being asked "whadda ya think about..." a dozen times, you probably want to say "didn't you hear me the first time mothfucker?".
