Well the captain obvious observation is these guys are still figuring out where to go on the court and have very little team chemistry. Nelly will be the leader and Brazile is having a hard time taking instruction from the guys telling him what he needs to be doing.
Solid defense outside a couple miscommunications on switches. That will get better. Much better last 10 mins offensively.
Interesting we mostly played without Z and Aidoo at the 5 the last 10 mins.

Probably his attitude last year, but there seemed to be way too much dysfunction on the team from the top down so it's hard to blame him in hindsight.

I didn't mean to hate brazile. He's a good player that has as high a ceiling as anyone on this team and in the SEC. Guys like that take heat if they're fighting against themselves.
I agree Brazile is playing as hard as anyone out there. Good to see.
We are giving up way too many wide open, uncontested 3s. If they could hit a few this would be a different game.

You just need to finish "the weave" and make some kind of point.
Our two big men (Z and Aidoo) look slow to me.
X is going to have a lot of moving pick calls go against him this year.
Players just don't know how to use a pick or set a pick anymore.
We seem to have stopped running an offense and whoever first gets the ball past halfcourt, tries to score.

I stand corrected, he has settled down and is holding his own. He can be the garbage guy for this team, good hustle and rebounding.

Well we played pretty unremarkable but still beat a team that is projected to win its conference and go to the tournament by 16. We all know how this would have gone last year.
We will shot better than we have fronm 3. Good thing is we only took 19. You can tell we are not in synch. That will get better with time.
Hopefully we'll get the Johnelle that shot over 40% from 3.
We have a ton of athleticism.

Kind of reminded me of the opener against NDSU in 2022. Outside of the FTs for both teams, stats are similar.
we killed them in points in the paint, 54-22, and in fast break points, 23-5. while they shot a better % from the line, it was only a three point difference.
i think if cal let them loose and run, it would have been a much different margin of victory.
It's an adequate start. Cal's teams always run hot and cold at the beginning of the season, due to Some Assembly Required.
We definitely have the talent (although our big man talent doesn't seem on par with what, say, UConn and Gonzaga has had in recent years). I am very encouraged that defense can be our calling card.

Davis can drive to the basket whenever he wants to, that was impressive.
I had to keep looking at a roster to know who is who.
The fan experience was awful.
It was unreal the number of times someone came down or went down out the aisle while the ball was in play. It was like the game itself was a total after thought as selfies and beer were the priority. And instead of going out the middle section and around they choose to go the full length of the row.
Either college kids or recent graduates - no interest in waiting for a timeout or dead ball, very annoying.
Hm surprised no one talked about basketball the next day.

I'm excited to watch us play Baylor. It sucks playing it opposite football games but I understand it. Auburn-Houston is right after our game.
