I  suspect this will be the game where our offense looks great but our defense can't stop anything.

Might be a shootout.

LSU is easily the best offense we've played this year.

It may have been that long ago,I was thinking 2021. I just remember we barely beat a really bad miss st or something that got stinkholed by another bad team team and I posted that and then we won like 8 in a row.

Anybody predict tusk'soffspring being raped midfield? No? Pity. That would have been the winner.

I did predict US to be raped midfield. And you can't spell Tusk without "us".
Well, shit...

I'd bet some Corndog has ripped down that Hawg Tuah sign and wiped his ass with it.

I believe numerically this was the closest (10).

Quote from: RPL on Oct 17, 2024, 07:51 PMHogs                 17
Bengals              38

This feels closer but it's not (11).

This one certainly best captured the spirit of the game.  It was a root.

How is 38-17 not closer than 31-17?

21 was almost the exact margin.

You're counting total points scored?

The math is how far away from each team's score (if you picked the winner).

31-17 is 3 off + 7 off = 10.
38-17 is 4 off + 7 off = 11.
(in other words their 17 was identical, but 31 is closer to LSU's 34 than 38 is).

If it was margin of victory 1,034-1,010 would be the winner.

Margin has to be weighted heavier than score, but score still counted so that your absurd example would be tossed out.

Yeah I was trying to be absurd but hypothetically, which is closer to 34-10?

33-10
37-13

37-13 gets the margin of victory exact but I think it's 33-10.

Maybe it's an art not a science.

I lean towards agreeing with TRS, but I'll take it since we would've had 17 if not for the back-to-back incredibly bad calls/no calls towards the end of the half.
Perish peacefully in a warm environment.

No question 33-10 is closer.

It is more of an art.

But mathematically, I would amend your formula like this:

Team 1 Score Differential + Team 2 Score Differential + Margin Differential = Competition Score

Using this, it would be...

The 31-17 prediction: 3 + 7 + 10 = 20
The 38-17 prediction: 4 + 7 +  3 = 14

Maybe we can get a ruling from the BCS Committee. I hear they have free time on their hands these days.
