I don't want a house without a pool.  I'm in mine at least 3-4 times per week from May - late September.  We installed a heater/chiller on it last year and it's easily added at least a month to our season.

We have six grandsons with four close by so the pool has been used extensively at our place. Heaters are a must and greatly increases the season. Fifteen years or so and I love having it. I can just go sit by it and enjoy it. Worse day of the year is closing day and the cover goes on.

For the first 9-10 years we had it, I had a company come out to winterize it and put a cover on in October and then come open it in April.  After leaving it open all winter a few years ago, I did the math and it was about the same cost to keep it open as it was to pay to have to closed and opened again.  So, I've left it open all year the past few years.  I really like the look of it if we get some snow.

That's when I really love the chiller.  When the water gets up around 92+, I can turn it on and drop the water temp a few degrees and it feels great when it's 100 outside.

I had an old 20x40 in the Park Hill area of NLR I ended up filling in.  I didn't miss it at all at the time but I would like to have a newer, smaller salt water pool now.

We put one in during Covid and usually close it on Halloween every year.  The heater/chiller really extends the season.

I'll get in ours in late March but my wife won't.
