We drove home to Texarkana from Fayetteville yesterday. Basically one clear lane most of the way till about Clarksville (yes, we went through LR-- wasn't going to test 71). About Russellville the roads cleared up to LR;  then a little more ice till about Malvern.  I30 was clear the rest of the way.

6 hours.

A few slick spots in Jonesboro, and then some places that are still iced over that the plows couldn't cut through yet.  The Jeep handles it beautifully but like always there are dudes in pickup trucks flying around like they want to meet Dale.  Other drivers as usual are more hazardous than the ice, but I figure by tomorrow this town is going to be smooth sailing.

For $7 mil I'll put a webcam in front of my shitter so I can answer fan questions while I drop the Longhorns off in College Station.

Quote from: Hogfan58 on Jan 27, 2026, 06:45 AMRoad are going to brutal in DFW today. It "warmed" up to 34 yesterday and was sunny, so some of the snow/sleet/ice melted only to re-freeze last night. It's just ice/black ice now. Won't get above freezing until this afternoon. Then we're supposed to get freezing fog tomorrow morning.

Made the drive to the office around 9:30. Total shitshow of a drive - like hockey rink ice. It's good and slushy out now.

On Hwy 71, the way we usually go, it's usually about 4 hours and 15 minutes.  No matter how fast you try to drive, or if you think you are just taking your time, it just almost always 4 hrs, 15 minutes.

Welp, went out to try and get the foot high drift of ice out from behind my car and garage door. Slipped, broke like cheap glass. I think I pulled every muscle in the right side of my back. Fucking ice was a foot thick. Finally called someone to come clear our driveway. This shit isn't going anywhere for at least a week or more.
Well, shit...

You know it's possible to even pull the taint muscle?  Be glad it wasn't that.

Quote from: BASS on Jan 27, 2026, 09:35 AMjust don't be an idiot when there is snow or ice between your rubber and the road.

Wishful thinking bass.

Johnson has what 7 or 9 police cars (how many cops?) but judging by the roads today they don't own a shovel or have a street department.

Side roads in Springdale were rough, main roads ok.

Did see several pickups and suvs get stuck thinking they could take a snow bank.
Check your damn blood pressure!

DFW is sloppier than Theresa Prewitt's twat right now.

Tip of the cap to Illinois DOT! 12 inches of snow this weekend and all roads were clear today. I guess that's why we pay $3 per gallon for gasoline.

BASS

Damn sos. Quit hurting yourself, you're too old for that shit.  But damn do I respect the want to to get out and get shit done.

Thanks Bass. I think I have that figured out now. This is the drift just outside our garage door.

That drift is worse than mine, and I had to put the Wrangler in 4-Low just to get it backed out of the garage.

Went into town today.  Stewart was a complete shit show.  Kanjis is a sheet of ice.  Rahling is ice up to Chenal.  Chenal is one lane both directions but drivable.

I had a mostly private shopping experience at Costco.  Super nice without all the streets hitters and durkas.
