Watching governor de Santis on the weather channel giving a hurricane preparation speech.

They are well prepared. My company has a contract with the company that contacts with Florida department of emergency management for post-hurricane support. I've had some hands on with that group creating real-time reports of where equipment, food, water, generators flood barriers, tents, cuts, medical equipment...is, etas of trucks, etc. pretty cool stuff.

Been in Ft. Walton since last night. So far, some wind, been raining a little all day, but no damage yet. Looks like from what we are seeing, we will get somewhere around 80-90MPH gusts sometime later. Hopefully that will be all. A lot of people where we are, are staying. Our daughter, her husband, and three of our grandchildren left around 6:00 this morning and are in Orlando now. We have beer, snacks, water, and food and have run the bathtub full in one of the bathrooms to flush with later on if needed. We are riding the storm out. Reminds me of a song....

We have group of techs that drove down yesterday ready to stage the generators we keep in Alabama so a wealth of valuable employees and equipment in harms way. We have 2 guys in Florida full time and they have been running themselves ragged.

My oldest is heading to orange beach Sunday. He said they expect him to stay two weeks. He's pumped. He's a lineman and this is his first hurricane assignment.

We are six miles inland and not in a flood zone. The people here say they aren't too worried and most are staying.

Maybe I'm wierd but I'd be pumped too. He's gonna make some money but have a lot of long days.

Me and mom get nervous but he loves being a lineman. He volunteers for call every chance he gets. He definitely gets paid, which is a plus.

Barton Fink

We saw a ton of linemen trucks on our way back yesterday

God bless him. My grandfather and 2 uncles were linemen. It takes a special breed and I thank them for it. Out into the storm and people complain about electricity

They were the toughest mf'ers I knew.

Please thank your son for his efforts. Linemen are heroes.

How is it in the panhandle this morning? Hoping it died off before hitting land.

Cell service and Internet are often out for a few days after a hurricane. Hopefully he made out ok.

We are fine. Sounded like a lot of jet engines last night and a lot of rain. Lots of limbs down and power out in a lot of places. Wind blew like hell.
