It just doesn't serve any purpose other than creating a buzz for their dozens of fans. It helps neither team in recruiting. I too wish it would have been 70-0 and it would have been except for 3 bad plays.

I was speaking specifically about Saturdays game.  

To your point though, it would take a historically bad coach for ASU to come close to winning and even then they wouldn't win.  

ASU is closer to UAPB than they are to a North Texas or Colorado State.

A not-insignificant number of our fans are small time boomers who are stuck in the 1970s and continue to treat our program as such. They talk about how it'd be "neat" to play ASU every year and how it's "tradition" to play in Little Rock.

These are the same chuds who still say paying players is cheating, talk about how we "do things the right way," and think NIL is an autoimmune disease.

For Arkansans over 50, WMS is a place that evokes memories of good games, good concerts, good crowds and good times. For those a bit older, Fair Park also brings back fond memories of trips to the zoo (with the mandatory accompanying visit to the small amusement park next door) and Traveler games at Ray Winder Field. Many Arkansans of a certain age played high school football games in WMS over the years and the stadium hosted the Arkansas High School All Star football game each summer for years, bringing fans from literally all over the state. That's why it is so hard to let go of WMS for many Hog fans.

But nostalgia is always ultimately disappointing and the Grand Lady of central Arkansas is in the terminal stages of senescence. As Thomas Wolfe warned us, you can't go home again and it is past time for the Hogs to say goodbye to War Memorial Stadium.

Exactly. Back in the day, branding/marketing sorta went hand in hand to travel and expose your team across the region. Alabama used to play in Tuscaloosa and Birmingham (Legion Field). It just makes no sense in today's world, nostalgia or not.

not to mention legion field had turned into a dump, massive renovations to bryant-denny, and improved roads connecting the two cities.

Agreed.  I am even older.  When I was in school in Fayetteville, we played 4 games a year in LR, and only 3 in Fayetteville. I saw Arkansas beat USC in LR and many other great games, like the victory over A&M that put us in the Cotton Bowl. So I understand the nostalgia part.

But it is time to move on.  Fayetteville is much easier to get to than it was in those days.  Remember, one of the reasons that Fayetteville didn't have lights for so many years is that John Barnhill and then Broyles didn't want people driving back over the mountains on HWY 71 after night games. The facilities are no longer competitive in LR. 

Sarah Sanders should have stayed out of it.  But she didn't. It will be interesting to see what happens.
