Quote from: DirkPiggler on Dec 05, 2025, 09:10 AMSuck is probably a strong word.  He's definitely not a guy who has a history of getting the most out of his talent.

Stats (all at teams with far better defensive talent than we've had in recent years):

2025 Florida 84th ypg, 127th 3rd down %
2024 Florida 75th ypg, 70th 3rd down %
2023 Auburn 51st ypg, 17th 3rd down %

If those stats are accurate, I don't think suck is too strong a word.

Weren't we supposed to be blown away and amazed and excited about the staff?  The best coordinators?

I have to say... I'm unimpressed.

I'm sure I'm wrong but it feels like Morris 2.0

But, he did flip some Arkansas kids last week.  Guess that is something.

Quote from: animal on Dec 05, 2025, 08:54 AMI've known many pastors in my life, my dad included and most were not overly as solid as they believed themselves to be. But I guess we could say the same for most of us.

It always bothered me watching men of the cloth essentially take advantage of their position by leaning on others to get things done. Being part of a "church family" can come at great cost in the name of the church and fellowship.
Not P&R so I will be brief.

Accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior does not rid us of our sin nature (or our desire to sin). We are incapable in human form of not sinning. The apostle Paul himself laments this fact in Romans 7:18-19 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing.

The literal Good News is that the sacrificial death, burial and resurrection of Jesus grants all who accept Him freedom from the consequences of that sin.

(And yes, there is an answer to the inevitable question of, "Well why don't Christians just have a ball and sin up a storm?" but this isn't the proper place for that answer}

the morris stuff is retarded. chad morris was and probably will be the worst coach in the history of the program. this guy hasn't coached a game yet.

HTL

Chad Morris is the worst coach in power conference football history.

Here's another thing about our nationally beloved AD:

The word at the barbershop is we didn't have money because our leadership is too lazy or self important to even go put forth any effort at all. Pittman didn't get money because he didn't work to get any.

Basically, the things I've heard is it takes more than just an email, letter or phone call from some schmuck.  There hasn't been anyone who took the time to go meet and visit eye to eye. Donors feel used and the relationships were neglected.  If I'm going to give you money, you better march into my office and ask me and act like you care.  The real issue, IMO, is Pittman and Yurachek didn't want to do that part of the job, they'd rather do it the "old fashioned way" and bitch about NIL.

A culture of laziness.  The BEST thing about Silverfield so far, and there's been a lot, and the reason I think he's going to win here, is he's already making an impact with showing our money people they matter. He will go visit them all.  In person.

The money will come.  He will go get it himself.  And that's, lady and gentlemen, exactly what we haven't had.

I'm on board.

we were the #121 worst defense in the country this season. at this point i'd give a woopigga a chance.

I will reserve any Morris comparisons until we see a few games, because Chad's worst quality as a coach was in-game decision making.

Coupled with poor preparation and an awful non-motivating, non-connecting personality, and we ended up with what we ended up with.

Literally the only comparison so far is that the coach is younger and came from a school one level down where he didn't win at a high clip.

The young guy from Memphis doesn't have a long list of potential coordinators? I'm shocked.

Several consecutive years of mediocrity would be an upgrade over anything else we've gotten in HY's tenure as AD. Just stop losing games we should have won.

Morris hand't coached a game for the Hogs before becoming the worst coach in the history of the program.  With that said, I see red flags that have similarities with Morris.  I'm sure I'm wrong and our future really is bright.

I know he got fired at Baylor, but how did he end up from Auburn to FL so fast?

His record at SMU when we hired him was 14-22. 2 losing seasons and a high water mark of 7-5.  Unbelievable now when you think about it.

Silverfield has never had a losing season, has beaten multiple P4 teams, and is 50-24, including 4-1 in bowl games.

I understand the trauma, but this hire is nothing, and I mean nothing, like the Chad hire, which is the worst hire of all time.
