Quote from: bogeyfree on Dec 17, 2025, 01:01 PMI think if you don't pay your QB 1MM+(probably much more than that) you're way behind the market.
All we really know is what we are told. The numbers tossed around on On3 and other sites is probably pulled right out of their asses.

The only way that will ever change is if there is open and ongoing disclosure on each student athlete that receives NIL money.

I do strongly believe you are correct though. Even KJ will probably get some under handed offers that may be enticing enough to portal if he's not taken care of sooner rather than later
"I got fired for using free speech" yea imagine getting killed over it

Well I know what a middle tiered Big 10 QB is getting paid and it's definitely significantly more than 1MM.  The whole system is so whacky, I have no idea how this is sustainable.

It all feels very much like a laundry mat level of economics.

The College Football Enquirer podcast addressed this the other day. They said schools are much quicker to "process" QBs now, even the big names like Lagway and Raiola because they're not living up to the money. They're telling them to take less money or hit the bricks. The market is slowly sorting itself out.

Edit: That's why I asked about Mendoza earlier in the thread. Evaluation is as important as anything else. Indiana is the #1 team with a portal class ranked 10 spots behind Arkansas.
The Lord wants you to put your foot on their balls and believe in it. 'Cuz that's what wins football games. Not jumping offsides like a bunch of wimps and faggots. I don't care what those pinkos over in Russia say. You want to be a loser? You go live in Russia. I'm a winner. I'm an American.

Without looking I'm going to guess their standard recruiting classes were behind ours as well.

Pavia wasn't exactly highly sought after when he signed with Vanderbilt last year either.  Dude just finds a way to win.

Mendoza made $2M last season.

Per 60 Minutes.

That's a hell of an hourly rate.

Got a good DL coach I think
"That's embarrassing.  Looks like Josh Duggar the first time his parents asked him to babysit."

For $7 mil I'll put a webcam in front of my shitter so I can answer fan questions while I drop the Longhorns off in College Station.

Once authored a post that critics claimed, "Was notaslibro level."

Quote from: BASS on Dec 17, 2025, 08:33 AM$24 mil to go to 85 players...i'm sure they aren't all getting a piece, but i think a mil for one guy is too much.  the market economics may tell me i'm wrong.  hard to know without the data.

but for the love of all that is fucking holy, spend some money on the offensive and defensive lines, get a decent rb, lb or two, and some db's.  i think wr and te are a dime a dozen; lots of guys can be good at those positions.  i'd bet our receiving corp this year cost a lot less than alabama's and i'm not sure theirs was any better, although williams is a beast.

I think it's all over the place. I know from a reliable source that Cam Coleman at Auburn is at $100k per month, for example.

But if you just take a simple average then $280k per player should result in a pretty solid roster.

Reminds of of when Bielema was gonna hire the best staff in the nation then just hired his former Wisconsin staff.

if morgan turner's salary is the same as he made this past season, the total assistant salary pool will be a little over $8.4 million.

as of fight now that's 5th in the sec. it was next to last in 2025 ($6.4M).

seems boosters didn't want to put their money behind sam and the AD couldn't read the room.

that was one guy's opinion, not 'espn'. he also has billy napier, some guy at kent st (above matt campbell), and a few 1st time coaches ranked higher.

Are you saying that you aren't happy with a top 25 coaching hire?

Sus-Scrofa

I thought we all agreed there's a pretty large wait and see element to this hire?

I'm not shocked by that ranking at all.
