Beamer is one of those interesting guys that seems like he could never get over the hump into the "good" coach category. Probably would have been a decent coach pre-NIL (akin to guy at Kentucky) but now that it's a pay day for everyone the mentality of how you build teams and develop them has changed dramatically. I don't know what the winning formula looks like, but it probably isn't taking a wait and see development approach. Win now or get fucked seems to be the order of the day.

Hiring people that inspires literally nobody is not really the way to go. I think you need someone cerebral but also understands you need to bring substance not excuses. Someone that commands respect thru obvious competence not someone that explains there's a plan in place...YOU'LL SEE!!!. Players want to get paid certainly but the really good teams undoubtedly come to those places because they believe the coaches and overall support staff are going to get them an opportunity to play professionally. Nobody is coming to Arkansas basketball because of Arkansas basketball anymore...they are coming here to play for Cal. The football players that came here under the new staff some of which came here to play in the SEC but also came here because of the better pay than they'd get in the Big 12 or AAC. That's the bottom line.
