The coach always matters. 

It may be the difference between 5-7 and 2-10 when NIL is too low, but coaching is still the number one most important variable in college football. 

Blaming all our woes on talent all these years lets the coaching staff and more importantly those who hired them off the hook for being substandard.

We have always been at or near the bottom of the league in talent, NIL or otherwise.  Likely always will unless one of the Walton kids decides to make football their pet project.  Even then, if they buy a top five roster we won't do anything with it if we keep entrusting them to fools.  Talent without proper leadership is like bourbon without alcohol.

I think if we had a Tyler Wilson or Brandon Allen under center, this would be a completely different team.  We gambled that we had a guy who was good enough and we brought in the Memphis kid and didn't go try to buy a starter.  Unless we see significant improvement that is going to prove a costly mistake.

And we are paying a QB half a mill in nil (2 yeat/1mill allegedly) to graduate early and not play this year then hope he doesn't bounce when the portal opens.

It's too early to give up on KJ Jackson which why we didn't go to the backup in this game. I think we gotta give the kid a few games barring some minor injury where they decide to go with AJ. 

More likely they'll run him more against Utah unless Silverfield doesn't run his QBs except for those rare 4th and 11 QB runs designed to truck 400lb DTs

Well we'd still need receivers that could get separation and actually catch the balls right in their hands too. So there's that, too. Or were the receivers on the out routes just not running hard because they know our qb can't get them the ball downfield?

Yeah, well...but the point is when the QB is bad, it's kind of hard to judge how bad everything else is.  Are the receivers not getting separation or is the QB not throwing them open?  Is the line terrible, or do we have a guy afraid to pull the trigger and/or take off.

This is what was disappointing to me.  We couldn't run the damn ball when we needed to against an FCS team.  Ignoring Utah, WTF is Georgia going to do to us?

It doesn't matter who the coach is until we can compete in the NIL space, we are going to be where we are. We are 15th in the SEC in NIL for football.

People want to know that their money is being spent wisely.  No one wanted to give Pittman money, because he was a dumb ass. Silverfield is already getting more, mainly because he did the work.  If he can show a favorable ROI, he'll get more.  Can't see another 2-10 season instilling confidence.
