The Oline and receivers are a bigger problem. They weren't getting open at all. KJ was definitely going through his progression, but needed to bail quicker. I think our only offensive  talent is at TE. Make them the primary targets.

This is what was disappointing to me.  We couldn't run the damn ball when we needed to against an FCS team.  Ignoring Utah, WTF is Georgia going to do to us?

We don't know for sure yet how good KJ is because the OL was awful. 

I suspect KJ isn't good, but any QB would look bad with that lack of blocking.   Tyler Wilson would've gotten broken in a million pieces as slow as he was.

Petrino from the get go said Dick wasn't a bad qb. Said his footwork was all fucked up. He took an average intramural type qb and made him competitive in the sec.

Bobby isn't much different than a lot of coaches who aren't there to develop players now they are tasked with making quick fixes. You do that buy taking a free agent that's already got some game experience if not multiple years of starting. 

The issue is at Arkansas it seems we're perpetually teetering from "doing it the right way" and then pivoting to "quick fixes" and "nothing works so pay more money to NIL"..."it's the fans fault"..."not gonna be an overnight fix"...."I gotta fix it".

The coach always matters. 

It may be the difference between 5-7 and 2-10 when NIL is too low, but coaching is still the number one most important variable in college football. 

Blaming all our woes on talent all these years lets the coaching staff and more importantly those who hired them off the hook for being substandard.

We have always been at or near the bottom of the league in talent, NIL or otherwise.  Likely always will unless one of the Walton kids decides to make football their pet project.  Even then, if they buy a top five roster we won't do anything with it if we keep entrusting them to fools.  Talent without proper leadership is like bourbon without alcohol. 

This. See Coach Cal. You have to get the backing first, but that's where the AD actually has to do his job well. You get the backing and go hire the coach that can get it done. It doesn't have to be the Cal caliber of coach, but someone respectable enough to open the pockets of the big donors. Or, if you can't do that, actually go out and find a hungry coach that is trying to win instead of hiring a coach that has had mediocre success and looking for his career ending payday.  Memphis was literally trying to find a way to get rid of silverfish. The folks in charge of hiring out coaches are either just plain lazy or dumb af. If you couldn't do better than silver, you just ride with Bobby another year. Bobby got a raw deal last year with having to take over that shit show. I guess we deserve what's coming.

It was HY that made it more costly to replace Pittman with the 2nd contract's buyout

It was HY that settled on option 3,4,5 or whatever despite us having an opening earlier than the competition. He couldn't fucking sell it, which makes sense why RS is having to pick up the fundraising slack

It was HY that could have replaced Pittman when the coaching market was more favorable

And guess what, it's more expensive to hire a cheap coach in the long run when you factor in buyouts and loss of ticket sales and fan support.

I always thought Pittman was a bridge coach until you're in a better position to attract a higher level coach. We all knew he had a ceiling from day 1. But HY really thought, yeah, he belongs in the league with Saban, Kiffen, Smart, fucking Drinkwitz, Heupel

We could have done the same with Bobby, if this is the best coach we can get. At worst, you'll have a team that can still compete in the SEC. At best , well we all know and lament that's never coming back.

I didn't think anyone could have been worse than Jeff Long but here we are. The lowest the program has ever been and we're going lower. It's impossible to convince me we can't find someone better to do the job, guy has been here almost 10 years this is ridiculous. Get his ass out already.
