I would draft Chambliss based on 4th quarter poise and theatrics alone. That's a good measure of a QB.

I don't know why Chambliss wants to come back.

With his character and tape, I think he's prime for a high draft slot. Guy's just a winner.

Seemed like some Ole Miss ball ticklers in here.

I'm on board with the prediction that they slide back to middle.   That fanbase maxed out they credit cards and threw every bit of Taco Bell franchisee and "big camo" money they had at football the past three years.

Notably they don't have talent at basketball or baseball at the same time.

This was their one big shot and all they managed to do is pay enough young black men 6 and 7 figures that the cover charges they charge at their Skwaaayer bars to keep them mostly huwhite no longer work as intended.

They missed at least three PIs against OM the first half.  It evened out.

You sound like the jealous step child... no offense. They were there, and we haven't played in over a month. They even lost their coach and still managed to get within sniffing the trophy.

CSB.

Oh they are miles ahead of us for obvious reasons.

Kiffin also pulled out for a reason.

They peaked tonight.

They don't have the resources to maintain what they did the past three years, in spite of much bluster claiming otherwise.

Chambliss was a generational fluke of a talent.

looks like Miami is the uncrowned SEC champ

beat A&M and Ole Miss and the team that beat Georgia

In the regular season FSU beat Alabama and the team that beat Oklahoma.

That covers all of them.

A-C-C - it just means even more!
Splash 11! drop ABE track, too confusing

Yet, you and I would trade places with them right now.

Meh, we said this when they were giving out bags under Freeze and best they could do was one 10 win season with the #1 recruiting class.

I'll go a different direction.

Their fans have tasted success and were a play away from the playing for the title without a fucking coach. They got there through anteing up and pouring cash into the program. They're not going to suddenly stop. We'd better hope Golding is John L Smith and not Dabo Swinney.

Our fans need to face up to the fact that Ole Miss is a really good program now. We still crow about Petrino's two 10 win seasons from 15 damn years ago. They've had five of them in the last decade with 2 different coaches. They have a much better recruiting base and are in a talent rich state. And like it or not, they're a brand that has a shitload more relevance.

If anything, it's our fans (and Hunter) that I'm hoping learn from Ole Miss's (and Indiana's) ascent to prominence. It can be done. It's time to stop acting like it's still 1978, that paying players is "cheating" (looking at you, Mike Irwin), clinging to the Pollyanna idea of doing things "the right way", and embrace that this is a fundamentally different sport that has to be approached in a completely different way that 5 years ago.

I've said this before and I'll say it again - everyone else will stop treating us like a small time program when we stop acting like a small time program.

Piggielicious

I wouldn't trade places with them now because there is no way they keep this success up without kiffin and his offensive staff. They are on the way back down.

They deserve credit for being willing to play the game in its current form, while we were stuck in the 1980s with an incompetent AD trying to plug the hole in Hoover dam with his micropenis.

But like others have said...it's not sustainable for them.  The odds of Golding being as good as Kiffin are about as good as John L being able to sustain the Petrino momentum for us.  He did a great job keeping the team together and channeling their frustration at Lane for ditching them.  How's he going to be at building a roster, replacing the assistants who are leaving, finding a replacement for Chambliss, etc?

The first time Golding has a relatively down year they're going to pull back money on him the way our boosters did when Pittman turned into a toad, or when they themselves did it to Matt Luke.  For all his character flaws Lane knew this...that he was one portal class misevaluation (think Musselman's last class here) from 6-6 and the cash spigots being turned off.  LSU has the ability to build depth through high school recruiting AND bring in studs and/or gap fillers through the portal.  Ole Miss (and Arkansas) can only do one of those.

Based on the last week of portal recruiting it seems that Silverfield gets it.  He seems to have an infrastructure in place that doesn't rely on his own aw shucks personality resonating with a few country kids who can play.  Ole Miss (and Indiana) this season proves that we can be that one season flash in the pan that at least contends for a title.  If they can do it, we can.  It just takes the will to spend money and maybe get your hands a little dirty.

Because he can likely make more money in college than the NFL right now.

Chambliss is a much better QB than Beck. And, yes, Zorak, I am very happy OM lost. Will have to check on my son in law this morning to see if he survived. I hope Chambliss and Lacey both are denied another year. And I don't get why these guys don't go pro. Better competition? Scared? Of course, college ball is almost like the pros now. 7 and 9 year players. But, fuck OM.

I'm pretty sure Lacy is not draft eligible yet.  Freshman at Missouri last year, starter at OM this year.  He should have one more year before being draftable.

This makes three straight years where no SEC team makes it to championship game.

One has to wonder if the SEC will take some kind of action to get back to what it views as its rightful place at the top of the sport.

My guess is some sort of tightening of the transfer portal and/or NIL rules to reinstate the massive advantage schools like Alabama and Georgia used to have.  It seems like in the new era of the sport it gives have nots like Ole Miss and newcomers like aTm more of a chance to build competent rosters at the expense of the traditional powers.

It doesn't help that they usually have 2 or 4 SEC teams play each other early and knock each other out.
