I went to TCU-Baylor yesterday with my son who is a TCU student.

Stadium seats 45K, guessing they had 20K there at kickoff and 30K at peak.

Stadium is gorgeous and well designed, but game experience and fans, it wasn't half as fun as a Hog home game.

I don't understand how a program with that level of support and small time feel has been nationally competitive.

And if you had gone to the same game in Waco, the crowd would most likely have been about the same.  If I had to guess a percentage, I will bet 60-70% of college football (major college, that is) operates on that basis.  No more than the top 20% really draw big crowds on a regular basis. Gotta be tv money keeping those programs going.  And remember, Baylor was really good there for a while.

Most of the time seating increases when you renovate a stadium.

If we're doing alternate universes I like the one where Bear Bryant didn't join the merchant marine after Pearl Harbor and took the Arkansas job in 1941 where he coached for nearly 20 years before going to Bama and handing the reins to Frank Broyles, who didn't run off Lou Holtz to Minnesota, and hired Jimmy Johnson when Holtz decided to go to Notre Dame.

And of course, all of this success made us a good landing spot for Nick Saban after Miami and we're trying to win our fourteenth NC this year.
