This is the order:
1. Power 5 undefeated
2. 1 loss conference champs
3. 1 loss non champs

That leaves you with Michigan, Washington, FSU, and Texas (with the head to head tiebreaker over Bama).

Are those the 4 best teams? No, but that's why a 4 team playoff will never be the right way to determine the champion.

Bama, Georgia, and Texas are all likely undefeated if they play the other 3 undefeated teams' schedules, but schedules will never be balanced which is why a bigger playoff is needed. 12 teams will be better next year, but I'd rather see 16.

Orlovsky wants FSU punished because the QB is out.  The other 21 positions on the field stepped up and remained undefeated while holding a 30-point/game team to 6.  Wins over LSU*, Clemson, Duke, and Louisville.

I agree with Kirby Smart that UGA is one of the 4 best teams, but the committee probably knows that putting Bama and UGA in would turn into an SEC-SEC national title game again.  The SEC could be very likely to have no teams in unless they start CashApp'ing some secretaries.  Is this how the next Civil War starts?

I've long been against any more more than a 4 team playoff.

My argument has always been at no point in NCAA football history has the 5th best team been near as good as the top two and didn't deserve a shot.

This is the first year we have sufficient evidence to warrant an 8 team playoff.
