Same. I'd watch every bowl game from the middle of December through the NC game, including the early bowls with mid-majors which were usually the most fun.

My interest in college football in general has taken a major nosedive to the point I've stopped giving a shit entirely. It obviously doesn't help that the UA has been teh suck, but this entire model — from the economics of coaching contacts to the portal to NIL insanity — has turned me off. Ever since the O'Bannon case, the ensuing class action ruling, and Covid, this sport has been on a path to self-destruction.

I've started following — and ultimately caring way more about — the NFL, which actually has collective bargaining and guardrails around free agency and player pay to maintain a semblance of competitive parity and not predicated on the whims of 18 year olds.

All that.  Younger me up through high school cared a lot more about the NFL and even considered late-regular season NFL to be just another part of the most wonderful time of the year along with Christmas.  And then I started caring more about college than the NFL until recently.  Now that it appears Jordan Love is capable of bringing life after Aaron Rodgers I'm starting to veer back to the NFL.

The NCAA and power conferences can try all they want to create professional college football.  It won't ever provide the same on-field product as the League.  I'll just sit back and watch college football start to fill up with records set by players who will never make as much money in the NFL as their NIL deals provide... looking at you, KJ.  At least, that's until everyone embraces the unrestricted free agency that we have now.  I'll miss Rivalry Week.

There used to be a set of parameters that set college football apart from the NFL to where they could each be enjoyable in their own respective contexts (amateurism, regional pride, historical rivalries, etc). Those lines that used to delineate college ball from the NFL no longer exist, and thus begs the question what its value prop is anymore, especially since there's no governance, structure, or foundational set of rules. It's just a godawful, shitty, disorganized mess in the wake of the class action suit after the O'Bannon case, and that genie isn't going back in the bottle.

Ed O'Bannon might've had pure intentions, but he ultimately did more damage to college athletics than anyone in the 21st century. As they say, the road to Hell is paved with good intentions.

Maybe the NCAA powers that be, for all their many faults, knew this was the slippery slope that came with name-image-likeness and pay for play.

That's exactly right. That's why they fought it so long.  Football will survive in one way or another, but the revenue stream will eventually be separated from the other sports and they all will be greatly diminished.  Even basketball and baseball will be dropped or reduced to D III status at lots of places.  Women's sport will mostly go away.

Title IX will be mostly going away.  It won't be repealed or anything.  It will still be on the books.  But it just won't apply to much anymore.  Title IX was written for an amateur and non-profit model.  It won't apply to a professional model.  If male college athletes in football (and probably basketball to a smaller degree) are to be paid professional athletes, by what legal measure can they be made to pay for and support unprofitable women's sports?

It will be interesting to see if this is correct. I personally don't see any way for a court to apply Title IX to this situation, but apparently somebody has a theory.  There is already a case pending in Oregon, I think, on this very issue.

This could be a reason that the NIL collectives don't have a direct tie to the schools.  I believe that Title IX determined that the Razorback Foundation and other similar orgs are part of the schools, and as such, scholarships have to be distributed equally.  If so, I'm all for the firewall.

Kirby Smart says "Guys that are completely healthy and cleared to play, they've all said they're going to play," in the Orange Bowl.  Texas loses against OU in the regular season - Playoff.  Georgia loses against Alabama in the SEC Championship Game - no playoff, and pissed.  Orange Bowl is looking uglier by the day.
