I would have liked to see Georgia and FSU play with all of FSU's players playing. Georgia would have probably still won, but I think it would definitely been a better game. Even the Georgia coach pointed that out. Georgia definitely got screwed. And fuck Bama. I told my wife when Bama was #10 that they would somehow make the playoffs. I, along with everyone else, is tired of these cheating fucks getting in every year no matter what. I hope they get rolled. But, the official's won't let that happen.

Alabama has a great coaching staff and the best talent in the country.  I don't get the "but they cheat!" angle.   

They are capable of doing things that no other program is able to do on the recruiting front?

If everyone is tired of seeing them, why would they receive preferential treatment from the PTB?   

I don't see them getting away with penalties in-game that every team doesn't get away with.  

I get the jealousy but I like Saban.  He wins.  15 years from now Arkansas fans will be saying the same thing about Kirby and Georgia.

The penalties thing...I mean, there was a time when they could go GAMES without a holding penalty while it looked they were having a rodeo on the other team's DL.  BLATANT holds not called.  Then late hits and PI not called as well. 

They've been called for at least 10-15% of their holds this season. I think the defensive non-calls are more egregious, and more prevalent because Saban is the defensive guru.

To add to this, last night was Craig Bohl's last game as a football coach. With a last second field goal to beat Toledo, Bohl's 10 year record at Wyoming ended at 61-60, putting him over .500 winning percentage.

Obviously, he is well known for his NDSU run, but I thought it was pretty cool his last game before retirement would go down that way.

Alabama's offensive line to start the season was absolutely horrendous. I will allow that with great coaching and great talent they no doubt got better but did they get so much better that they get to the playoffs? Really both Bama and Georgia looked like they slept walked most of the season. 

I'm betting what they got better at was holding like mofos but also the staff made adjustments. The QB certainly improved with game action to but lets not take warm showers together just yet. The kid is still not as good as what they normally have. His improvement was in part Saban making adjustments to TAKE ADVANTAGE of his skill set where as their OC wanted to make him into a straight laced pro style QB.

I keep hearing people say that the bowl games no longer matter.  Danny Kannel excused Florida States monumental loss as a "the game didn't matter".  

When have 99.9% of the bowl games ever mattered?  Why were guys not opting out 20 years ago?

This is what I have been wondering. It's like a mass psychosis. When somebody does something, others can follow. Maybe Shawn Andrews was ahead of his time.

Seniors and talented underclassmen went pro 20 years ago. All of them were making millions of dollars, then. All of them are risking those millions of dollars, by playing in a bowl game. Why play in the bowl game then, but not now?

As others have said, and I commented last year during the same time, it's only a very small step from skipping a meaningless bowl game, to skipping meaningless regular season games. I see no difference whatsoever. The way to reign it in during the pay for play era is no play, no pay.

The 12 team playoff will create more meaning and fewer opt outs on the top end at least. The rest of the bowl games will be glorified spring games.

Why not 20 years ago? This is a combination of things really. There is more/better information on the damage this game causes to your body. When you have a realistic chance of making a living doing something you know WILL negatively impact your body why would you do it for just the love of the game? Some do and many don't now probably at the advisement of the same people that are looking for school closures 2 day in advance of a snow storm that never comes. People are conditioned to fear porn now days and that falls right into the same thing with football players.

I think the bowl games mean something to seniors that aren't going pro and underclassmen coming back next year. So, maybe just make everyone going pro opt out to make the games more even. Something needs to be done. This is what NIL has done to college football.
