Barton Fink

Spunds like the old Bert second half funk is still a thing.

Thin Red Swine

Getting close enough for Bert to screw it up.

But the first two point conversion was the right thing to do. I brain farted.

Feral

The announcers said earlier that Bert considers his offense "tempo."

What about all those death certificates?

Feral

This Illinois defense is the epitome of an early 2000s Big Ten defense.

Big, fat, slow, and gets absolutely wrecked by a team with any semblance of speed.

Bert's schedule is back to baby shit soft, with Penn State and Wisconsin at home and a road trip to Iowa. The rest are middlers. He's probably destined for 6-6 though.

Hogs vs Bert in the Liberty Bowl.

You heard it here first.

This Illinois team may be hot trash.

They needed a 4th down Hail Mary and a field goal to beat Toledo at home last week.

They'll lose to Penn State next week and may lose to FAU the next to start 1-3. They still have to play Maryland, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa.

Very real chance they wind up 5-7.

That was a classic Bert game.

Get outclassed by a team you should be bigger, stronger, and faster than. Dig a hole and then crawl back into it before time runs out.

A loss that wasn't as close as the score indicated. That's Bielemaball

Game has passed Bert by. It passed him by here.

Something's never change.

some of you are way overeatimating the expectations of illinois football fans. the best record that program had in the 11 years before bert was 7-6.  if he gets to a bowl this season, it will be as many as they did during than span.

he picked the perfect program to be mediocre.

Facts are fun

Bret Bielema was 60-19 in his first six years at Wisconsin. He's gone 51-52 since.

A Bret Bielema coached team hasn't finished ranked since 2011.

That's also the last time a Bielema coached team won more than 8 games in a season.

Clearly took his cues from Barry Alvarez.

He "ran" Wisky football about like Biden "runs" the country.

I remember having an "oh shit" moment in 2014-ish when I realized everyone in the SEC had moved to a variation of the spread (including Bama) and we were still trying to play I formation bullyball.

Bert was building us like mid-2000s Big Ten team full of slow mashers, while even programs like Bama and Oklahoma were shifting towards speed and RPO mixes.

One of the biggest reasons we lost so many games in the 4th quarter under Bert was the #BodybyHerb S&C program that focused on strength and bulk over speed, agility, and endurance. He was focusing on the 'S' to the detriment of the 'C' when the latter matters late in games. To no surprise, Herbert wound up back in the Big Ten, and it's the least surprising thing ever to see Michigan running through the Big Ten schedule only to get boatraced in bowl season by southern teams (Michigan hasn't won a bowl game since 2015 and every loss has been to a team from the South).
