Vandy brings academics.
Kentucky brings basketball.
Missouri brings "the north" and KC/St. Louis markets.

I'd suppose it's between us and MSU and USC-E.

They are not going to kick USC-E out with NC coming in.  Same for MSU with Ole Miss.  #rivals.

Well all that applies to Mizzou too.

I agree that they would be the next closest to providing no real value to the SEC as a whole.  Question is, does our baseball and basketball success trump their football and geography?

Who knows if conferences will even exist in 10 years. I could see the SEC and Big 10 breaking off and forming their own league. Similar to the National League and American league in MLB.

If that happens, I'm sure there will probably be a few more teams added to those two leagues. UNC, Notre Dame, Florida State, Clemson, maybe Miami. Maybe Duke. That's about it.

When the talk of expansion first started a bunch of years ago, I said the SEC should have tried to pull North Carolina and Duke to make the SEC the top conference in football and basketball.

Seems like their heavy tie to Texas rivalry would be enough to move them up the pecking order. 
But, honestly I forgot about them.  That is how non relevant they are.

A promotion/relegation setup would be interesting.  40-50 teams in the major conferences and feeder conferences.  Bottom 3 from each big conference go down and promote 3 each year from the feeder conferences.  Make the mid tier bowl games playoffs to promote.

If the sec can get North Carolina - do you also take Clemson or Florida state or who - Louisville which has a strong all around program? That the Jellycats would have to play them woukd be great as it would piss them off.

If North Carolina leaves, the acc will fold in the end.

Let's not oversell their football "success.".   They have been better than us, but that's about it.

In thirteen years in the league they have been at or below .500 in seven of them, while playing one of the easier schedules possible for a SEC member each year.  Their last two seasons have been really good...again, with one of the weakest schedules in the league...but 47-50, 25-42 for the previous eight years.  That seems very Arkansas-ish. 

The fact that we've become the bitches of one of the worst programs in collegiate football history is perhaps the greatest indictment of our leadership and lack of commitment to the sport.
