Grant Cook does postgame O line tape review on 4th & Five. After North Alabama he was very unhappy with pad level and technique which he said were basics taught since peewee football; however, he said it was easy to "clean up" and he didn't expect it to be a problem against Utah.

His review of the Utah game was released yesterday and he said pad level was still horrible, basic technique was even worse and situational awareness seemed non-existent. His quote was, "Either it's not being coached or these guys refuse to learn it and neither option is good." DJ asked him what he thinks will happen in the O line room this week and he said he didn't know but it should be something along the lines of, there are five positions open right now and I'll put five walk-ons out there if they can show me better practice tape than I've seen in games from the starters so far.

Quote from: Barton Fink on Sep 16, 2026, 09:31 AMIf we lose to Tulsa, it's hard to imagine the team not giving up. 1-11 with a series of blowouts is most likely. Fans will be livid even if HY is canned. Never thought we would dip below the Morris days but it's on the tanle.

I mean I get why some feel like he needs two years, but how much damage would that do to the program to have another year of dead man walking?

I guess, my whole life I've heard why we can't do this and why se can't do that. What would ESPN say about us and so on and so forth. And with a few exceptions it seems Arkansas has mostly gone the extra mile to not offend and be conservative.  Meanwhile we've seen nearly every fanbase at every other school do some crazy shit.  And here we sit with Top 10 facilities, Top 25 money (despite the mantra about us being poor), Top 5 college town, and a growing university with a passionate and loyal fanbase that is used to success in practically every other sport, and have the worst team BY FAR in any of the major conferences.

I don't expect natties, but these results should get everyone fired immediately.

Quote from: Show-Me Hog on Sep 16, 2026, 09:17 AMThis is the worst part and the part he can't escape. Even with bad teams I will watch for SOMETHING. Even when I know we are going to lose.

To see how the offense is developing.
To watch the defense.
To watch a particular guy run the ball.
Or throw the ball.

On this team, there is literally nothing to watch. They're ugly. Every aspect of this team is a 1.5 in a conference of 8s, 9s, and 10s.

That kind of hopelessness is a hard hole to dig out of.

Truth. They're not good at any aspect of the game. Stolen from Danny West:

What exactly are they good at? There are 16 teams in the SEC. Through the first two miserable games, Arkansas ranks 16th in scoring, 16th in rushing, 16th in sacks allowed, 16th in passing plays of 30+, 16th in tackles for loss, 15th in scoring defense, 15th in turnovers, 15th in sacks, tied for 15th (last) in rushing plays of 20+, and they're 14th in total yards, 14th in passes defended, and 14th in long-scrimmage plays of 30+.

They're also 11th in penalties and tackles for loss allowed.
The Lord wants you to put your foot on their balls and believe in it. 'Cuz that's what wins football games. Not jumping offsides like a bunch of wimps and faggots. I don't care what those pinkos over in Russia say. You want to be a loser? You go live in Russia. I'm a winner. I'm an American.

Show-Me Hog

Is it better to be 1-11 than 4-8? I think in a way it is. It's SOMETHING. It's an identity. We're the ABSOLUTE WORST. We get Josh Pate doing sad pieces about us and the rest of the conference and NCAA basically paying attention to my gosh have you seen the disaster in Fayetteville.

At 4-8 with one SEC win there is the glimmer of false hope inside the walls, and absolutely nobody is even paying attention outside the walls. We're just another bad football team in the bad football team hopper.

But as the absolute worst....it reminds me of this great movie quote,

I mean, say what you want about the tenets of National Socialism, Dude, at least it's an ethos.

Barton Fink

We don't do anything even mediocre. That is hard to fathom.

Yeah, exactly.  Just nothing.  No hope.  Nothing on which to build.  Next year it's 70 new players and the same damned thing.  Except for money, absolutely no reason to keep that guy around.  It would be unprecedented in bad football at Arkansas.

We gotten used to being pretty bad at Arkansas, but we've never been the worst.  Even when bad, we've been competitive.  There have been arguments that a break here and there...slight improvement in this area or that...and we would be miles better.

This is just unprecedented futility.

OK but where do our wing flapping or first down celebrations rank?

The only reason not to fire him at 1-11 is as I said above, to keep Yurachek from making the hire or worse, for having to hire someone without an AD in place.  If the board did what they should and fired Yurachek at noon today (sooner if possible), then had his replacement on board by November, then yes you cut bait and move on to someone else.  Preferably you hire an AD who already has a head coach he can bring with him, or someone he trusts committed to taking the job.

No,I agree.  At any other school in the conference, the governor would be involved by now and the AD packing his bags.  At Arkansas HY will probably be allowed to retire next year.

This situation reminds me of a guy I play golf with.  He is the worst bunker player I have ever seen.

Couple of years ago, he told us his new years resolution:

This year I want to go from an atrocious bunker player to a less than average bunker player.

Our leadership has the habit of squeezing nickels at the expense of dollars.

They wouldn't allow Pittman to be fired after 2023 because of the buyout.  I guarantee the value of our program has decreased far more than the difference between what that would have cost and what we ended up paying Sam, not to mention when you add in the fact that Silverfield is going to need a nice golden parachute when he gets canned, whether it be this year or next.  The cost to dig out of the hole that keeping Pittman put us in is going to be far more expensive than what it would have cost to stop digging when it was clearly time.

IF BMFP was held to the standard of needing to win a game or two, then the new coach should be held to the same standard too.

RS has had a lot more control of his situaiton than BP did last year.  He brought in 80+ new guys and built his team.  And they somehow have gotten worse.  BP brought in key offensive guys and had one of the better offenses in the country that was improving.

I dare say BP's leadership showed slight improvement after SP was fired.  RS's team is remarkedly worse aftre firing BP.

Burn the entire thing down.  Bury it.  Never resurrect it.

It would be interesting to see who makes us their bitch first, Louisiana Tech or Missouri State.

Where do we think we would finish in that conference?  Middle of the pack?

FIU Panthers (Florida International)
Jacksonville State Gamecocks
Kennesaw State Owls
Liberty Flames
Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders
Missouri State Bears
New Mexico State Aggies
Sam Houston Bearkats
UTEP Miners
Western Kentucky Hilltoppers
Louisiana Tech Bulldogs

To put it in context to how bad it is...Bert's donut teams would have butt sex with these guys. Last year's 2-10 team would beat these guys by 30.

44 flys around on defense.   He should get more snaps. Haven't seen anyone else really stand out in the limited action I've watched
