I know for a fact Kane wanted the job last year. I know for a fact Yurachek met with Kane at his house in Alabama and decided to go with Silverfield instead for some stupid fucking reason. Kane would have been so much better for so many reasons.

I can't imagine having a conversation with both and coming away with a gut feeling that RS would be the better option. Not saying I think, Kane would have been a slam dunk, but I think fans would have been way more behind him even if the w/l record was the same at this point.

FNG

At his first press conference last year RS promised to improve the "controllables", i.e., things like hustle, tackling, ball security/turnovers and penalties. So far, compared to last year's stats, he seems not to have delivered on that promise.

Through 5 games:

2025 8 turnovers lost (-2 margin)
2026 7 turnovers lost (-3 margin)

2025 31 penalties (270 yds)
2026 32 penalties (260 yds)

Hustle and tackling are somewhat subjective but turnovers and penalties are not. Also, gifting A&M an eventual TD due to lining up 12 men attempting to block a FG is coaching malpractice.

I know you think it's all about money, but our roster spending is a symptom of the problem, not the cause.

We have at least twenty problems that have more to do with football being in the toilet than our supposed lack of resources.  From the useless AD, to the feckless board members, through every incompetent coach on staff.  Fix those starting at the top of the list and money woes resolve themselves.

Giving this AD and staff a blank checkbook would make things only marginally better in the short term.

How is it possible to get a job coaching and making hundreds of thousands of dollars a season, and you are so dumb to teach the shit the way we have been playing?

Oline terrible
Rb mediocre
Wr Marshall is good, everyone else Medicare
Te disappointing
QB terrible

I'm not sure we couldn't fire the entire offensive staff and hire me to do all positions and play calling and do any worse.

I never played organized football, but I can coach linemen better than they have been.

I disagree.  We simply have a coach that has no fucking clue what an SEC looks like.  He built a fucking sunbelt team.

Never said that was our only problem. I said it is the one thing that can change quickly and bring results. You give BP better talent and he's gonna win more games. You and I both know that to be true. It also shows a commitment to compete when we are looking for a new coach. The person responsible for doing that is not doing a good job of it and should be held accountable.

We stood neck and neck with TT 2 years ago and easily beat them on the field. They kept their coach, admin, etc. and put together a plan to be more competitive and they have seen results. Almost overnight. We had the opportunity to do the same and have sat on our hands. And yes, that failure lays upon our administration.

WTF does this a mean?

https://thenilstandard.com/football/teams

We have one of the top 25 NIL budgets (allegedly) in the country.

We absolutely are paying guys enough to NOT be this fucking bad.

Silverfield gets zero sympathy.  This team hasn't gotten better in any way shape or form since he took over.  And these are mostly all his guys.  Fuck him.

Give this staff an equal amount of money to the top tier teams in this conference and they will still finish at or near the bottom.

Give Sam Pittman that kind of money and you would see the same...look at 2022 and 2023, years when our player spending were on par with most of the league...as proof.

Bobby clearly would have been a better choice.  He could have done better with less, just like he did the first time.  Win a few years and the money would have flowed in.

We had quite a bit more money in player talent than Utah, who also had a first year coach, and they embarrassed us. I don't think a 3X multiplier would have been enough to close that gap.

Petrino is the best coach we've had in the last 40 years easily, but he also came in the same season we had the best in state recruiting class of all time. The teams he had in 2010 and 2011 were absolutely stacked with talent especially at the skill positions.

Barton Fink

You're making my point. Make the program uncompetitive and you are gonna attract an unproven coach. If we had better talent last year we could have at least been mediocre. I get that is not what we want but it's better than what we have. You and others claimed firing SP would lead to more NIL and a better coach. That did not happen. We have gotten worse.

I'm pretty sure whatever they are doing in practice IS being carried over into the games.

That team was loaded. Petrino needs talent (as all coaches do) but he's proven he can compete at an elite level if he has it. I do not think RS can get to the elite level even with competitive talent.

Petrino came to Fayetteville and damn near beat us with Missouri State.  Oh well.
"That's embarrassing.  Looks like Josh Duggar when his parents asked him to babysit."

For $7 mil I'll put a webcam in front of my shitter so I can answer fan questions while I drop the Longhorns off in College Station.

Petrino is 20-30 in his last 50 games as a head coach. I've never had more fun watching Arkansas football than I did in 2009, 2010, and 2011 but he's not the solution at this point. He's old, he's past his prime, he had a chance to grab this job by the balls last season and went 0-7. He would have been better than Silverfield but Silverfield is a fucking bum.

animal

Silverfield never had to do a major rebuild at Memphis as far as I recall. This is an entirely different situation even if it's the NIL era where you are flipping a roster every year. 80+ players leaves a lot of room for error. Just think that number used to be 25 to 30 was the norm and not unheard of to be under 20. The ways rosters are constructed now takes money, resources, and expertise at building rosters (quickly)...professional level adherence to knowing need positions etc. We obviously don't have that.
"I got fired for using free speech" yea imagine getting killed over it

Trigger7672

Not getting a QB in the portal this season and getting the kid from FHS for one million when we have no intention of playing him never made an ounce of sense. What the hell was that?

currently on a 0-16 streak as a p4 coach. no offers after the most coaches changes ever in any one offseason. no one knows how he would have done if he got this job, with these resources, with this talent. no one.

his best seasons were after cornrows recruits were long gone. he's in over his head right now, finding out the difference between the aac and the sec, just like the russian who a lot on here wanted hired. go read an auburn board and they are saying the same things you're seeing here. both might be massive fails or able to get at least decent, but neither is getting fired after one year.
