Barton Fink

Yet he states we don't stand a chance without it.

Son of Spam

I figure that only the folks from about Little Rock, north give anything. The folks from Little Rock, south probably don't give a shit and are more concerned with living and hunting than giving to a lost cause. Maybe I am wrong, but it is a thought.
Well, shit...

Quote from: mde114 on Oct 05, 2026, 03:48 PMDoesn't sound like Tyson is going to give more to football.  They give $2 million a year. Says WE need to give more and give Silverware more time.

Fuck
no, he pretty much said that everyone needs to help. nice way to say that he and a few other guys can't carry the load all by themselves. that could be directed at other big money donors and the fans. he wouldn't say the things he did about the hc if he wasn't going to continue to support the program. noticeably absent was any mention of yuracheck.

Barton Fink

His comments make me believe that regardless what we do with HY or RS, the wealthy donors have no interest in giving more. If we want to compete, it will have to come through a collective. I don't see that happening with the pulse of the program today.

Heard him mention Yurachek several times, sounded pretty friendly toward him, referred to him being a coach-friendly AD. Probably pretty important to Tyson and Cal that HY remains.

If only we had a stadium naming rights deal where we could parlay that into a professional team owner who also runs some kind of business that could buy a college football program and pimp his/her product(s) at the same time.

"I got fired for using free speech" yea imagine getting killed over it

Yep, Tyson said Southeast Arkansas is pretty much Mississippi anyway.

We need a student fee.  As someone currently paying tuition up there I wouldn't even notice a student fee.  You could charge as much as $500 a semester and it wouldn't be noticed.  You're paying paying $14k-$15k a semester a few hundred will not be noticed and is stupidly throwing away millions of dollars a year.  $200 a semester on 27,000 undergrads would be almost $11 million a year.  That could damned near pay the salaries of every coaching staff on the Hill not in football or basketball.

At this point refusal to do so is just another stupid point of pride and an indication that we really aren't serious.

Sounds reasonable except isn't NIL supposed to be a voluntary thing? I want to say when I went to college there was some kind of "athletic" booster type thing in the tuition but back then it was peanuts.

A walton could give $1 billion to create a trust that can't be broken, ua athletics can spend the interest it earns every year.

They'd never miss it, and if you're not clearing $80 million a year, fire the fund manager.

Each walton family member could do it and they'd never notice.

Fuck, jfb, why couldn't you get that family hooked on Arkansas sports? We'd be competitive in every sport.
Fuck your feelings

the athletic department wanted it, the chancellor shot it down.

Sure, but money is fungible.  Money used from one source for one thing, frees money up elsewhere for something else.

Another reason to fire him too.

Lol

One billionaire puts his money where his heart is, the other billionaire wants a patch on the uniforms for $2m a year.

Barton Fink

That's pretty damn funny.

We are still hung up on that "self-supporting " myth from the JFB days that no one else follows.
Perish peacefully in a warm environment.

Quote from: The Whyte Boar on Oct 05, 2026, 10:14 AMWe are going to have to do a lot of things differently to compete.  Firing HY would be the first signal not only to the fanbase but potential coaches and everyone else.  Does it guarantee anything?  No, but Indiana shows it can be done.  Programs with a lot less history and resources have become more than respectable.  Kansas State is a historical example and Vandy is a recent example. We can do it.
whe both 'Sippi schools are head and shoulders better than our program bodies need to drop.

Boarat

Now we're asking money to be diverted from our shitty maternal healthcare to fund these retarded athletes lol

Barton Fink

Watching the full LR Touchdown interview, it doesn't sound like the Walton's, etc. have any interest in helping the football program. He mentions they are all investing in other areas around the community (NWA). Which makes his comments about us all coming together very interesting. Almost sounds like he is looking for more support outside of NWA. He danced around Baz's question of it can be done just with donors or donors + fans.

Baz highlighted Campbell and what he did for TT and Mark Cuban investing in IU football. Tyson took it in stride but made it clear he is not providing us that kind of support.

Interview is worth the watch but be forewarned you have to fast forward through the first 30-40 mins.
