I wasn't impressed so much with the names, but knowing those names were attached to that specific jersey number was (or would have been) impressive.

He did just as much as Sid - scored 300+ more points and took his team to the Final Four just like Sid.

Day deserves to have his number retired for sure. 

The reason I say make it an honor for current players to get it is the number of other really good players who wore it before and after Day.  If he was the only good one to wear it, hang it in the rafters with his name on it.
