I think it's fairly clear we don't have a real starting caliber 3rd WR. Wilson may round into that but we're lacking something here. Mbake might have been that guy. Stephens has been a no-show. Dozier is probably a year away. Sategna isn't getting any run at WR...he's strictly a return guy for some reason. Broden was penciled in to help but hasn't really broken into the rotation as of yet.

To be fair, KJ only completed 22 passes to receivers year, and just 9 on Saturday. There just haven't been that many targets to go around yet for the WR corps.

I may be OD'ing on Kool-Aid and Hopium, but it seems like KJ is ahead of where he was last year in terms of getting in sync with the portal receivers (specifically Teslaa and Armstrong).

It seemed last year that it took KJ quite a bit of time to get in sync with Haselwood and Landers. I remember thinking early in the season that Landers was a bust because he was dropping a lot of passes that were right on target and uncontested. He turned it on quickly and ultimately became the second best receiver Pittman has had at Arkansas.

I don't know if the crowd was quiet or the broadcast was filtering out some noise or they had a mic taped to the front of the speakers, but a lot of times I could hear the music plain as day through the tv screen.

KJ did seem to be throwing the ball low most of the day Saturday.  That was the main accuracy issue I saw.  Most were still catchable. 

There's catchable and then there's accurate. Catchable means the receiver has to adjust to catch it. Accurate is putting it in the right spot. He very seldom puts it in the right spot for big plays to happen.

I love the guy, but he's always thrown behind on crossing routes. He just isn't comfortable throwing them. This year, he's had a couple of TDS that he threw in the dirt also.

If you're limiting it to crossing routes, then I agree although the sample size from his first two years is likely too small to make a judgment.  This is an area where I hope Enos can have the greatest impact.

That's where my head is.

We should have lost to Missouri State, bumblefucked our way to a loss against Liberty, and pissed away what should have been a win against Mizzou because we were lazy walking into that game.

In 2021 we fucked around and looked terrible against Rice the week before Texas came to Fayetteville (we were trailing by 10 in the 3rd quarter).

I like Pittman but he has a pretty lousy track record of having us completely unprepared to play lesser opponents and overlooking them ahead of big games. We should win this weekend, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if we fuck around and lose because we're too busy thinking about LSU.

This is where I think back to the ass chewing Mike Leach gave his last Texas Tech team about thinking they were hot shit and "too good to play Baylor" and ultimately fucking around and finding out.
