I would think if he had 5 star talent Georgia wouldn't have let him go. He may indeed mature into a NFL hof player. So far, he looks like a bust. He certainly shouldn't be playing a lot.

He was going against a couple guys that will likely have good or great NFL careers. The margin for error is such that you can't make a footwork mistake or get caught peeking too long for the run or the guy is gonna go right by. On one play the WR had his hand up before he had ran right by our corner...that's how confident they were in being in the right play. They were seeing how we were lined up and knowing they could hold our safeties and get their guy on a 1 and 1 with Singletary. It was probably their plan all along. We got exposed...hopefully it is something that can be fixed.

Way too soon to say he's a bust. He will learn from it and get better.

I find it interesting that we "steal" Enos from Maryland and they are now 4-0 and about to be 5-0 after today.  Also, UL now 5-0 after we swipe their Strungth coach.  hmm

There are number of teams in the SEC that have early season woes with the offensive line but Arkansas thus far appears to be the worst most unprepared offense. No doubt a lot of that is the growing pains of a new offense with players that were recruited for the Briles offense. 

We are starting two young guys at tackle and maybe eventually they'll develop into decent starting quality but I don't think it's going to happen this season...maybe as the season goes on and the schedule gets softer these guys can take a breath and things will start to click. We've looked physically over matched in nearly every game this season though. I still fallback on as a coaching staff you gotta do something I'm looking at that roster and see a lot more big OLs and none of those guys play. What the fuck are we doing with recruiting and development?

The biggest one of all — Georgia has gone to another level as a program since Pittman left. And they won back to back NC's with 2 different OL coaches.

Reminds me of when SMU was ascending after Chad left, and how Wisconsin seemed to take a step forward after Bert left.

Funny how we keep drawing the short straws on these guys and persist being the ones buying high and selling low.

Also should be noted that the Tulane coach was passed on and is rolling fairly well at least for that program not saying he would have fit. He might have been a slow builder and that would not fly.

Then there is the OU coach that I think might have been interviewed when they settled on Chad though not sure of that being confirmed. If I recall another name back then was Major Applewhite... yikes

In fairness to the process there were several openings in the SEC when Sam was hired and so I can understand why those other guys passed on the gig as has been said. This is a good reason to possibly go ugly early as I don't see a lot of openings coming in the SEC barring guys resigning. If we beat Florida we may be competing with them in the job market...

A slow builder would have worked well here at the time Sam was hired.  Look at how giddy we all got over a 3-7 (really 4-6) first season.  If he'd followed that with 7-6 and then 9-4 last year instead of the other way around, he'd have a lot more leeway with things going sideways right now. That's the problem...instead of continuing to grow we plateaued and then started back down the hill.
