KJ doesn't have time to let the deep routes develop. He has 2 men in his face almost immediately.

I think we're all seeing why we got KJ in the first place. 

Ole Miss knew he wasn't a QB and Luke didn't offer him.  That's a tell for sure. 

He's a QB in the same style of Matt Jones.  Due to athletic ability he can extend plays and make something happen, but he will never run an NFL offense, which is what Enos is trying to do.

The head scratcher is Enos saying that he thought he was the best QB he's ever coached. 

What the hell was he seeing this off-season?  It's like everyone on the staff had no idea what they had and that gives me very little to no hope they can fix it. 

And no amount of "we're fucking Arkansaw!" will fix the technique.  I need Sam to get an action plan on my desk by the morning and drop the catch phrases.

This isn't shocking.

KJ can make some "holy shit!" plays, but he can also be the most unaware, empty-headed QB I've ever seen.

Diving for the goal line from nearly 5 yards out, never stretching for a 1st down, running out of bounds with a few more potential yards in front of him, holding the ball for an eternity, outright not seeing wide open receivers, the list goes on. He's a good athlete, but he's not a very good quarterback.

However, in his defense, he's a square peg in a round hole in this offense, and that's the fault of Enos and Sam. They have a squad full of guys tailor made for the Baylor system and they're running overly complex pro style, read heavy bullshit. Pittman and Enos committed the cardinal sin of forcing personnel to adart into their system as opposed to tailoring their system around the personnel they had. Live in the world that is as opposed to the one you think ought to be.

I've given Briles my fair share of shit for some of his cutesy playcalling over the years, but he deserves a ton of credit for running a simplistic system and getting a lot out of KJ.

I've said for two years that a lot of what was wrong with Brile's offense was KJ.  He can come out very flat in games and just be plain bad.  Two years ago he had several games like that but they would get him going and he would get better as the game went on.  Last year, there were some games where he never did come out of the funk.  This year, except for that first game where looked razor sharp, he has pretty much looked like shit for the whole season. 

Even with Briles he was to holding the ball too long, not seeing open men running down the field, and choosing the outlet man who was short of the sticks on 3rd and 4th down instead of an open receiver farther down the field.

I was just going through the other board and saw this post below.  I don't know if its true, but things seem different than usual.  The media seems to have turned.  No one is defending Sam.  If I had to say it's probably because everyone knew that Sam had a five year shelf life anyway just because or his age.  And if it isn't going to work, may as well do it now.  Pretty much zero percent chance he is here in three years no matter what happens.  Anyway, here is the post.

They all go back to wanting to play "real" football with, as Burt called it, a "goddamn fullback" and multiple tight ends.  We can't do that at Arkansas.  Hell, we couldn't do it relative to other programs in the 1960s and 70s when we were a top 5-10 program every year.  Even then we were early adopters of the forward pass and other newfangled tricks that the powerhouses thought were gimmicky.  We have to zig when the rest of the world zags, because we're always going to be undersized and outmanned. 

Art Briles offense was designed to overcome limitations in size with speed in space.  Kendal didn't always do a great job executing it, but when it works it's the great equalizer that lets schools like Baylor, Texas Tech and Arkansas compete with the likes of OU, Texas, and Alabama.  We need to always be running some form of the spread, at least until there is some innovation where tight formations and power football become the unicorn that jabs the major programs in the ass. 

You have a point that we should always be running some form of spread here for the vast majority of snaps. The whole idea behind the philosophy is creating mismatches when you are overmatched.

And we are, in the recruiting rankings and on the field.

Eh, high school recruiting is important but somewhat overrated in the portal era.

The portal is where your head coach needs to be a ringer, because that's how you turn around your program quickly and supplement where you need to.

Pittman fucked up in the portal with the crop of receivers, TEs, and OL he pulled. The transfer D-linemen haven't pissed a drop either. The lone bright spots have been the linebackers and a few of the secondary guys, and even they have been getting roasted on their fair share of snaps.

I don't think it is going to matter. Maybe Lasso Tits should have done this back in the summer.

I didn't take "goat fuck" to mean that they were extra hard.  I take that to mean a disorganized mess.  Maybe I'm wrong, but that is what I took from it.

As someone said on here this week, we should've known this team would be Charmin soft this year when Pittman had them constantly practicing indoors in August because it was too hot.
