Flashback to Nick Saban post-game PC, basically "our fans don't see that that's a really good football team. All they see is the record. That's a good team over there."

Am I and other woopiggers too drunk, too close to the action? Should we be appreciating what a good 2-5 team we have?

BTW this is also a comment on outside perception and there is no way in hell Pittman is not our coach in 2024.

Morris got fired less than 2 years in not only because we were losing bigly, but also because RRS was a ghost town, we weren't selling concessions or merch, and donations fell way off. There was a tangible, quantitative financial impact to him being the head coach.

Barring some unforeseen run by this team to get back to the cusp of bowl eligibility, I think we're going to see real apathy set in with Pittman.

As someone on here eloquently said after last season, "there's something very wrong with a team that lost several close games (including one to a G5 team), turned a blowout bowl game into a coin flip win, and then hemorrhaged players to the portal, and I'm not bullish on a 61 year old with FU money finding it or fixing it." Fast forward a year and we're still losing close games, still losing games we shouldn't, still seeing myriad game management mistakes, started over at both coordinator spots with disastrous results on one side of the ball, and will likely lose a shitload of players to the portal yet again, and I'm still not bullish at all on Sam Pittman fixing it.

Good programs don't lose to North Texas, Liberty, BYU, San Jose State, Western Kentucky, Colorado State, Vanderbilt.  They don't have over all losing records to Missouri and they don't lose to Alabama 17 years in a row.

Anyone who says Arkansas is a good program or a particular team in a particular season is good has sever mental issues.

Spot on synopsis. HY obviously knows this is the 100 word brief of where we are. Remains to be seen what he does about it. I think it's beyond the usual bs you might expect like sacrificing a tightends and special teams coach.

We didn't hemorrhage players to the portal. The players that left weren't going to play much here. We don't miss Simeon Blair do we? Hornsby? Jackson Woodard? Catalon?

Every team, every year will have multiple transfers...that's not just an Arkansas/Pittman thing.

I can't shake that old notion of playing for your team.  I know it is old fashioned, but I will not give it up.

Would you tell any academic student to put off an internship in their field because they will miss glee club recitals?  It's the same thing here.  Rocket is here to get to the next level, and he's got a problem to solve if he hopes to get into hiss chosen field.

Rocket has to get that knee fixed and rehabbed before the combine in March.  He has four months.  He should have stayed hurt and not returned.  I hope he fixes his knee, goes to a combine academy, and has a slam dunk combine and pro day.  In this awful market for RBs he has to do that to go on the third day. If the knee is sloppy he's a UDFA and chasing a practice squad slot somewhere.

Would probably get them the Gasparilla, Birmingham or Texas Bowl. Definitely wouldn't be jumping for joy but at least you'd have some tangible positive results to go into 2024 with and hopefully not see a mass exodus to the portal.
