There is the possibility that some of these rumors are trial balloons to see how fans will react.  I may have to go to the Mizzou game with people who have a kid at Mizzou.  I think the beatdown will be epic.  Dorkawitz seems to have a hardon for Arkansas and Pittman and will score 70 if he can.

The early signing period has a HUGE impact on the decision to keep/fire a coach. Wait till the end of year to fire a coach and you are going to get devestated in recruiting. Not enough time to hire a new coach and give him time to recruit (existing commits and new recruits).

Here is a theory I have.  Maybe it's just a hope.  Ferret Top and Grit were right the other day when they said he was gone.  But they had been told in confidence and weren't supposed to break it because Sam was going to retire and act like it was his idea instead of more or less getting fired.  And now all these conflicting stories that he might be safe or is safe are just attempts to put a little of the toothpaste back in the tube so that he can keep a little dignity when he announces he is hanging it up.

Meh. They're not serious about having a decent football program. Other schools firing coaches in year one, or paying coaches a gazillion dollars to just away because they go 6-4 (4-3 in SEC).
